    Props for getting that ground rod in! I think more ground rods are installed with a sawzall than an SDS hammer drill. 🤫 The prices for EG4 gear sure seems tempting for our future build, but I keep leaning towards Victron. (Using EG4 Batteries) Hope Signature Solar gets you up and running!

      @@ironwoodvalley Thank you. I think if we didn’t have such hard clay, the sds would have pushed it in. We installed all Victron in the Rv (with EG4 batteries) and have loved it. It’s worked perfectly with no problems. We have a Multiplus II and all the components go along with that inverter. The problem with Victron is it’s pricey and load. Also everything is separate, like the mppt controllers and with a system as big as ours, we would need quite a few. At least 2 Multiplus II to get split phase (240 v) for the house. And at least 3 large mppt charge controllers to handle the 3 arrays we have. Signature Solar is a great company to work with. Their customer service is the best I’ve ever seen and I would totally go through them again. They are sending us out a brand new inverter on warranty. 10 year warranty through Signature Solar is amazing!

    I have dealt with signature solar off warranty work with an inverter i purchased from them. They like lots of pics, info, and tests so they can make informed decisions on what they want to do. Seems kinda drawn out. But in the end i sent it back and within a day or 2 of them receiving it the shipped a replacement. I have also called them on a few questions ive had and they answered questions.
    So i don't think youll have any issues with them.
    I run 2 different systems without battery coms and dont have issues. But i have pieced things together as i had funds so different makes of batteries. I just use the bms in the battery to do what the battery needs.
    Your system looks good and am sure all will work out.

      Thank you so much for your comment. I have had amazing customer service from them this far. I actually called them for a question I had with the WiFi dongle on the inverter after a talked with them on the communication cable for the batteries. After a couple rings I just hung up and decided to just talk with them when I received the cable in a week. They actually called me back in an hour, just to make sure I didn’t have a problems. Pretty cool. Fingers crossed on the inverter.🤞

    Nice work on your Solar system. I find using a propane torch or heat gun to soften the PVC pipe for bends makes a much cleaner & continuous look than using all that coupling. Saves money on parts as well. Also, if you can't find a ferrule for the bigger guage wire you might consider tinning the ends with solder. Looking forward to your next drop...

    • @Benthitchfarm
      @Benthitchfarm  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you. I do like to use a heat gun on pvc. I used it on the conduit outside to go around the water lines running it from the solar arrays to the barn. I didn’t really have much luck bending in and have it look nice, so I just used fittings. Definitely would look better without all of those. 👍

    What a bummer! After all that work and brain power - there's a big problem. So often tech nowadays have cheap components inside (but costly for the unit) that fail quickly which drives me mad. I sure hope you get a brand new inverter from the company as I wouldn't trust the one you have now, even after they go through the troubleshooting. Anyway, best of luck to you - and hello!

    G’dye Levi, When you ran earth /ground wire thru wall did you insulate it? Otherwise the metal wall might affect the system.
    Here in Australia ,state of Victoria earth/ground would be fully insulated to the ground rod.

      Hello. Hope you are enjoying the summer. Here in Idaho, we use a bare copper wire for the earth ground rod. Never thought about it touching the metal container as it goes through to the rod? 🤔

    • @Benthitchfarm
      @Benthitchfarm  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      @@Mariekennedy7478 You definitely could run the wires out of those 2” holes but the wires would be just hanging out of the cabinet. Could be dangerous or a trip hazard and would have to be secured to the cabinet somehow. I really need the wires to come out of the back so if we get another battery bank, we can just push the 2 together into that corner. We are trying to set this system up so we can add to it down the road! 👍~L

      @ yep there are 2” knockouts on 4 corners on both sides. The only problem is I want to be able to push the cabinets into the corner and be able to get another cabinet next to it. They have to be push tight together to fit in that space, which is why I wanted to have the wires come out of the back of the cabinet. 👍

    • @Benthitchfarm
      @Benthitchfarm  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yeah not sure it’s a bucketful but we are having some problems with it. I did say for the price it’s the best out there in reference to the battery bank. This inverter has some great reviews but we are having issues. The place I got this setup from walked me through using it without the cable they forgot to send. It isn’t supposed to have that hum sound at all, so I think it had some problems to begin with. Let’s hope they stand behind it.

    Nice system except for the cheap, high frequency, transformerless inverter. You'll be lucky to get even two years of use from it. You'll be even luckier if it doesn't fry your home's appliances without an output transformer to provide galvanic isolation.

    • @Benthitchfarm

      @@quickquote1568 Thank you for the comment. I am not an expert in any way on solar and have learned a lot in the last few years installing my 2 systems. The first was a single phase Victron system that has worked flawlessly for 3 years now. This EG4 system was the best we could afford and does have a 10 year warranty. Time will tell if going with the less expensive more efficient option(transformerless) will holdup to our needs. Out of curiosity, what inverter do you have and recommend? ~L
