Do not get rid of the car, our channels are not big enough to fund getting additional cars if you can't afford it without relying on TH-cam. I've been told by many youtubers, do not start relying on TH-cam to pay your car payment until you're making twice the car payment. You're one of the few channels featuring a 718, keep it. Ride it out for awhile. Especially if you're putting all this money into it MOD wise. Bring more track content, learn how to track your car on the "cheaper" Cayman S. So you can get the feel for what the platform is like. Need more 718 versus GT350 content😎 can't wait to win that giveaway! 🙌
718 v. GT350 comparison: me and my wife choose my 19’ 718 GTS every time over her 18’ GT350. Her GT350 is a sledgehammer and she loves slamming gears in her morning commute. I always make sure she gets into the R’s at least once a day, and she makes sure to get on it. We both prefer the Bruce Lee knife fighter 718 GTS for weeknight rips and weekend drives! We haven’t touched her GT350 (sans PPF), no mods required. I’ve put a Soul Performance 200cell down pipe on the 718 and REALLY want the APR Stg1 tune badly! I AX regularly and have HPDE’d the 718 at Barber/NCM. Wheel/tire upgrade soon.
I’ve driven AB’s garage GT350 and I absolutely love it, one of the purest and rawest cars I’ve ever driven. I agree with you though, I just love love love the 718 platform!
Everyone is saying to keep it so I might just do that and really explore how far I can take this car. Definitely going to be adding something else to the garage soon if I keep it though, maybe a Miata 🤭
@@DriveMore718 I have to be careful in my mods, because Momma loves the ride and I don't want to ruin that. I'm looking at a DSC Suspension Controller, 6-pot Big Brake Kit (Suncoast Porsche), and APR Stg1 Tune. I highly recommend staying with a cat on our exhaust choice. I have the PSE and will wait on an exhaust, but it's my opinion APR has the best option for modularity. I was on the 718 GT4 wait list when the 718 GTS MT showed up. I cancelled my GT4 wait list spot with one test drive! I'm confident I'll be even happier, if that's possible, with the APR tune from your review. I know I'd be a bit disappointed waiting on the power to overcome the tall gearing on the NA GT4. My plan is to make my car a baby GT4 with my GTS mods, but still keep some streetability (Momma comfort).
@@Banshee19MTP I'm the exact opposite. I would enjoy the 718 for the daily use and for road course, track days or weekend fun would take the gt350.... it is an absolute ANIMAL on track... especially stock for stock against the Cayman. We will be doing a tuned Cayman 718 versus GT350 I think very soon
Best evolutionary path fir your channel is to do mods, document and present them. I was gonna suggest mods for downpipe and exhaust, and then you mentioned it. APR does exhaust
You’ve got an awesome build. I’d keep going with it. I’ve got a 2020 GT4, actually been thinking about adding a base 718 to the collection to get back into the fun of tuning. As far as things to see in future vids, I think you’ve got a great topic (modding a 718 flat-4) compared to most other channels which just deal with stock 718’s. If you get a GT4, the nature of your channel will change. Way more viewers out there that have/can afford the base or S 718 versions and that’s where your subscribers will be. Plus more to do on the 4-cylinder models as the GT4 is pretty amazing out of the box. As more 718s come out of warranty, more people will be interested in tuning/mods. The 718 flat-4 platform is awesome, I run with them at Sebring on track days and they are QUICK. I think in the next few years these cars will be highly sought after in the same way that 90’s Supras are, I think people will be very surprised how much power the motor and tranny can handle and more companies will come out with more mods as the aftermarket demand grows. BTW, the car looks sick lowered! Love it.

Why do all those mods if you're planning on selling it? Keep it! With the tune it's already faster than a GT4.
Basically for content, once I’m done building the car hopefully I can bring it back to stock and sell the parts. I do absolutely love the car though so it’s going to be tough to sell it. I might keep it longer than I think.

Your channel has the winning recipe: a not so common sports car, that is evolving through best-bang-for-the-buck mods. Downpipe and cat back exhaust is defined your next step. Check out APR, Fabspeed and SoulPerformance. A 200# race cat is good, but catless is better. In FL it’s easier to get by with catlesss. Greetings from London, I was in the market for an F82 M4 but I will be getting a Cayman S instead.
PS. When you had the HR springs fitted you should have also added a pair of camber plates or GT3 race Lower Control Arms. Those and the APR stage 1 will let you beat a stock GT4 hands down

That’s great! You won’t regret it, these cayman’s are amazing. In my option even the best BMW’s don’t feel as good as these to drive.

I agree with the folks on here who are saying to keep going with this build. I started following you about 5 weeks ago, three weeks before purchasing my 2019 CGTS. Not many folks on YT doing what you’re doing with the 4banger and people like me appreciate this content. There’s waaay too much content out there on the GT4, trust. Stay the course and keep doing what you’re doing. Good stuff for sure.

If you read APR's verbiage on the 718 tune they mentioned that modifying the exhaust yields zero extra performance. My GTS Boxster is so loud with the sports exhaust it's hard to talk over even at idle lol.
A base 992 will be more interesting mod/vid wise than a GT4 which is pretty much perfect as it is. Your 718 will look a lot better in a different color so looking forward to seeing it wrapped!
I agree! 992 would make more much better content. The wrap is coming soon, hopefully everyone likes the color... its a bit out there lol
I'd like to see you racing it at PCA events. It'd would be interesting to see you pass any 911 GT3 or Cayman GT4. Does the APR tune have enough to pass these cars on track? I'd definitely like to see.

I think that's my plan for now. I'm going to try to make more content with other cars. Definitely going to do more track day's too!

The other day, I was trying to get around some slow pokes on the highway in my 981 Cayman S and so I floored it and was barely able to get around them due to the lack of torque. Made me seriously consider trading it for a 718S. Then it dawned on me that a 718 S with tune and bolt ons would be faster than a 981 or 718 GT4. Sure the flat 6 sounds amazing but damn it's nice to have some torque!
The torque even when it’s stock is amazing. I’ve driven the 981 and it is an AMAZING car but the 718s is just so fast in comparison. You definitely won’t regret getting one. If you tune it then you’ll love it even more!
@@DriveMore718 that's what I'm sayin brotha! Everybody makes a big idea over it having a 4cyl but it's simply a better car in every way. Steering, road feel, power, fuel economy, chassis, etc. I'm heading to Porsche to go test drive one right now. They've got a used 2018 S on the lot. I'll report back 😁

I sold my 718 last week (needed something with a back seat). I personally think a base 911 would be a great build to watch. I also am looking at a 2021 IS350. Beautiful car and lots of mod potential down the road. With the IS500 coming out this fall, there should be lots of interest around the IS models.
Yeah a base 911 would be a great car to build and make content with. I actually had an IS350, I love those cars.
Try a Fabspeed. Have it on my 2018 718 base manual, and it make it sound like a small block V8. I constantly get compliments from people of all ages. For the price, you can’t go wrong.

I had a spyder 2021 and it was beautiful but it just didn't have enough power for me. I almost purchased a gt4 but just like the spyder it was too slow imo. I had a 991.1 gt3 rs and it felt powerful to me and I have owned 2 991 turbos BUT the 718's with the flat 6 just don't do it for me. The Cayman/Boxster with the apr tune is so much more performance than a gt4.
Stick with the turbo and more content on the APR on actual roads
Checkout Rennsport Dragon Rally which is a three day all Porsche event based around the Tail of the Dragon. Last fall we had 220 cars! There is also Smoky Mountain Drives that is a one day event and welcomes all brands. These events are both done by the same guy....Josh Vandergriff.
I’ve heard of the Rennsport dragon rally, it’s definitely something I want to do. Have you attended any of those events?
@@DriveMore718 my first event was last fall as a navigator. I live in the area and I had sold my Boxster and was wanting on my Cayman GTS 4.0 Cayman order. Unfortunately I had to reorder again due to bad connection rods in my car. I will once again be a navigator next weekend 🤬 Keep an eye out for registration to open for the fall event. It really is a great way to experience many different roads in the area other than just the dragon.
Hopefully for the next one your not a navigator, did they say how long till your order came in? I know they’re running really behind on customer orders right now. I will definitely keep an eye out for the next registration, I would really like to do that event!
@@DriveMore718 The dealership is saying July 23-30. I will be very surprised if the car is here by then. At this point, I just hope to get a car before the snow starts flying again here in TN!!

Hell no! Base cayman is much better as a daily driver. Better value proposition in every respect and your going to take a depreciation hit. Just enjoy your blessings.
I agree, that GT4 is just such a dream though. Maybe in the future I can have it as a second car!
Actually too many people on U Tube are buying GT4s. It’s been done and it’s boring content now. Actually you should do something differently like you’re doing now. Maybe go “cheaper” with a base Boxster or Cayman. Talk about how great this is and more affordable. Or wait and buy a new Z by.Nissan? A Supra with a manual of that happens!
I've been looking at 987 cayman's and possibly doing a track build with one of those. I agree, it would make for good content.
@@DriveMore718 - The 2007 gen 987 Cayman S is incredible to drive! It’s got the flat six and hydraulic steering. Plus very reasonable cost wise. Challenging to find a clean low mileage one but worth the effort!😊

No C8 for this channel anytime soon, maybe once the Z06 comes I’ll consider one. It would have to be a second car though, I can’t not have a Porsche in the garage.
