Easily my favourite weapon. The base form is fast, and the tricked form has reach. The tricked form is also great for hitting multiple targets, and it's serrated. Both forms also leave your off hand free for other weapons.

And the Souls games are ultimately really unintuiive for newbies. They explain nothing but the very bare minimum, and just pressing buttons is a good way to accidentally waste all your items - like what happened when he did try that.
