    Gensler really does a good job of allowing everyone in the room to grow and be. He is the ringleader, but he doesnt have a problem sharing the spotlight. I also want to hear more about his father.

    CENTRAL AUTHORITY - Certificate authority is what people use everyday to view internet page. Every website has public key and private key. The certificate authority signs the public key allowing for entry to such website. All part of blockchain technology, internet is secured on TSL & SSL, so when you download a website you access their secret key which is verified against the public key from the certificate authority. Digital signatures can be assayed so that you can check authentication on private key and public key. How blockchain would can this authority's process, I don't know.

    Notice when it comes to talking about Aadhaar he goes all fast and loose. No one died due to losing their Aadhar. The deaths he is talking perhaps relates to the demonetisation exercise. He is conflating the two. And you know how the mainstream media blows things up. When it comes to the US, a few million credit card data lost is just because of 'mistakes' by a few merchants, but a billion user project is 'mismanaged' by the Indian govt.

    Excellent conversations on identity. I am wondering if biometrics are hashed then there must be some level of accuracy for the iris or fingerprint to be initially stored. And any small change to the input (cut on finger or dilation of eyes will generate a different hash. Won't this cause high level of false negatives (legitimate people failing the hashed biometric validation after the initial capture)?

    • @micwallace
      @micwallace 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely, I would also consider that existing biometrics would not be good enough for this alone. I recon a combination of DNA plus other individually hashed attributes like fingerprints would be the go. That way indentical twins are covered and you can for instance lose one or all of your fingerprints and still be able to verify. Apart from fingerprint I can't think of any others that are unique for identical twins. Ideas?

    • @andso7068

      I work at a bank and one of security metrics for identifying customers is by having them answer 4 out 5 random identifiers correctly. Maybe this could be incorporated in the process if say, the hash is slightly altered,

  • @entwist_
    @entwist_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    To those who have made it this far, congratulations.
    28:50 when speaking on Satoshi Nakamoto, he uses the term she insinuating that Satoshi was a women. I'm not against this, but I just wonder how he came to that conclusion, given in the earlier lectures all of the suspected people were men. it's ok if Satoshi was a woman, but I would love to know why Gary thinks that. Even if it's just a philosophical reason.

      @@TheDogsSide its a literal question about an unknown person. It's not so much about gender but rather thought process. Go find somewhere else to get offended keyboard warrior. Because obviously you didn't real the whole comment if you think Satoshi being a female is a problem.

    • @otislescribe8018
      @otislescribe8018 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@entwist_ Most likely they simply had a off-camera talk at some point earlier during the course and decided that it's irrelevant to call Satoshi a "he", maybe a student said that we shouldn't assume Satoshi's gender or smthing, and he said "she" in that one instance. The same way he purposefully stopped using the word "ledger" (or what is "blockchain"?) in an earlier course. Not that big of a deal, imo.
      (Or he knows who Satoshi is and he exposed himself on camera for the world to see :o)

    • @entwist_
      @entwist_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@otislescribe8018 it was just interesting because I went through the whole course and that was the first time I heard Gary use a gender when referring to Nakamoto. Its more of a philosophical aspect than anything, because it would be ironic that males created the modern monetary and power system and a female came along and perfected it. Or at the very least, improved and made a more transparent playing ground.
      In other words, taking equality by the horns and creating change through an anonymous and equal opportunity platform that doesn't discriminate on any basis. Creating a system, that now 10+ years in the future, even she couldn't change.
