I like playing Alexander. Philosophical and Aggressive Phalanxes are fun and couple fairly well I think. Shaka, Khmer, Ragnar. Kind of a tough neighborhood. And Saladin is a hard one to destroy early as well.
I'm enjoying this so far Lain. :) 1) It's a WB save and I think you forgot to add techs to the barbs at the start of the game. If so, the barb city was only defended by warriors and was easy meat for Shaka. 2) Shaka won't talk because you backstabbed him the turn after signing a cease fire. ;) The AI will refuse to talk for a long time after that.
1) For these NC games I have someone on the forums who adds the barb techs and then sends me the save, so I can avoid opening world builder and spoilering myself. So the barbs had archers, Shaka must have spammed enough Impis to defeat them though ;).
is phalanx rush best in this type of game? or you just wanted to play dynamically? isn't playing normal better? expanding, gifting a city to shaka,,,things like that. (im just a random immortal player, need deity players professional advice)
Don't know if it's the best approach objectively, I just wanted to try the Phalanx pretty much. But it's probably good to hit someone before bribing (Alphabet, technology trading) becomes a thing. It's a bit annoying with the Khmer so close aswell. Construction attack might still be better (maybe bulb Mathematics).
with copper and being Greece, I think it is too tempting to not try Phalanx rush. Also, even though the land is pretty good to play normally, the neighbors are really bad. It is hard to peace farm when Shaka and Khmer surround you. It makes sense to me to at least kill one of them at the early phase of the game.
"With this kind of neighbourhood, it's not like I'm going to sit back" - Hehe
quick comeback!
strangest thing is that first city that you took from him is always build on the rice.
Finally I see what phalanx is for! Thank you
Action packed :D
Back for more after the slog of Mao, nice
If you kill someone while they are building the Pyramids do you get the fail gold? Guessing no.
Could you chop out some wonders or Shaka would have attacked you?

Damn, city 2 could have had stone AND marble.
When you declared(42m30s) his city count went from 4 down to 3. Why is that?
Cities that you don't have sight on are hidden from the count during wartime.
1K subs soon!
Wow that was such bad luck. If you had had your capital adjacent to stone, marble and gold you would have had better advantage!
