- mspaint.exe's data directly visualized.
Program Homepage: github.com/nimaid/binary-wate...
My Remix: • Microsoft Paint Remix
Inspiration Video: • The sounds of Microsof...
I was inspired by a video where someone visualized the mspaint.exe binary file using audio and video. I thought the effect was cool, but the original tutorial's process was tedious and held together by willpower alone. I recreated the effect using a Python 3 program that takes care of all of the steps in one simple command. Then I ran it on the same mspaint.exe file as that video, but with different settings. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน

It's Vargskelethoer Joel not Vargskelethor Joel
@@Blaze_DadyYou’re stupid

@@Blaze_Dady nope it’s vargskelethor
A fellow fecal funny enjoyer ( or fecal female)
The fact that this actually sounds somewhat musical is just unfathomable
Because they have patterns that are understandable to us, the same noise looks like noise to us, but the visual data is quite regular and similar to music
Man you'd love Breakcore
@@destroy1440Yeah. The noise is basically just recreating white noise.
Every colour is a diff note, and so the pixels in each line act as members of a harmonic series.
0:43 this is when banger starts 🔥🔥
That’s what I said
ryoji ikeda type beat
0:31 ms paint jumpscare
0:49 microsoft unintentionally making bangers
1:01 when the shapes start flowing the beat starts beatin.
fed to the rules and I hit the ground running
But it didn't make sense not to live for fun
your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
so much to do so much to see so what's wrong with taking the backstreets
no rhyme no fime, allday all night. no rhyme, no fame, gonna hit the gym, nobody gonna rive with me
0:32 sick beat
0:00 code
0:18 some kind of data
0:30 icon data
0:32 code
0:33 logo
0:36 more icon data
0:40 idk
0:43 idk again
0:49 drawing types
1:01 shapes
1:10 cursors
1:19 code
2:05 more icons
3:08 same as 0:43
3:10 back to the icons
3:27 mysterious data
I think 0:43 and 3:08 are brush/line thickness.
It seems like half of Paint is just icons
if the order is similar to how resource hacker loads the data (it should), i might be able to find out what the other data is
If you slow 0:30 to 0.25x.. wait for it... there's tiny sprites!
One looked like 🙏
the bitmaps make such funky noises
3:08 music to my ears :]
Reminds me of the sound of loading games on the ZX Spectrum from audio cassette.
from a technical standpoint that basically exactly what it is

3:01 Sounds like a MBR masterpiece
1:18 looks like a broken tv
what any computer sees and hears when you open a .exe file

now i want dialup
now i have the sudden urge to open ms paint a lot just to give my computer a banger ass tune
1:10 why does this sound like a fart orchestra
1:00 another sick beat
3:11 amiga sounding for some reason
2:19 that "saved" detune makes the printer's intune so unexpected
Honestly it sounded like DOOM E1M1 instrument
ehh i don't really know much about DOOM@@DiamondNoobie
Hopefully it goes on Spotify some day... under the title "FNF Music"
Tbh the static parts actually sound like a waterfall, and move just like one too!
And it can also sound more like waterfalls by moving your head or speaker at different angles or positions, which is really cool.
This proves that we are living in a simulation!@@rldboi
AHHHHH ROOMS FAN AHHH AGHHHHH
When the speaker plays HDMI audio when connected.
OHHHH THE SOUND IS ICONS!
So you are telling me that sounds like in 0:49 are basically the code showing the icons, images etc.? Thats cool.
no, those literally ARE the icons
@XENON2028 depends on your perspective on life really
They are the BMPs in the exe file
@@thomasgamer4000 wdym ???
those are the selected .ico files for the exe icon, executables have a property on windows that allow them to have custom icons, thank windows for its greatness
I share the same sentiment about the original tutorial; got pretty close with ffmpeg but this nails it for sure!
Every icon has it's own theme.
Never thought listening to shapes would be so cool
Love the little program you made by the way! Live preview of that ffmpeg command essentially :D
WE MAKIN IT OUTA SYSTEM 32 WITH THIS ONE
no bot or bot?
0:50 this is where the breakore starts!!
This is outstanding! Thanks for building a program to do it, as well as making it open source. Now I want to look into trying to build it as well.
Like a tape that never ends, that's what I imagine data looks like in my dreams...
Also is it just me or it feels like there are some patterns like lines crawling up the stream in the big chunks of code like 1:19 ?
Well, it could be caused by there being separate lines of long coding. (I didn’t know how to explain it, so it’s ok if you didn’t understand)
@@rldboi Could you be any more patronising?

Thank you, now I can imagine in full SD!
I find it interesting that the icons included within the executable are nearly completely untouched
Because it's not code

what a banger
i love how every now and then some icons pop up
thank u bro, i installed mspaint in my brains
damn those are some sick beats ngl
this is so cool
2:04 sick gangster beat
I lowkey like it
2:05 sounds like Brazilian Phonk
the image data parts are my favorite
All of the image data & stuff is last because that is naturally how EXE files are structured
thanks now i can paint in my brain
Ahhh finaly nereid moon sounds
3:01 actually sounds good
Me trying to remember the blueprints in my Castle projects:
Thanks now mspaint.exe is installed to my brain 10/10 download no virus 😊 ❤ 👍
hell yeah i love merzbow
0:18 is similar to undertales sans voice file
this is what movement 3 of silent orchestra is
2:04 every brazilian music ever
I didn't know that the binary itself contains the logo image you see on the taskbar!
that ending though
autechre been real silent since this dropped
this is like when I scream like that when I see a nfsw channel
i finally installed ms paint in my brain
Yes interprétions!
i wonder what would happen if someone downloaded the audio, recorded it onto a cassette, and tried to load the data from the cassette
3:27 not the x 💀
when i had this app, i thinked of a idea where i inserted BW into BW.
BW - Binary Waterfall
dont ask what happended
2:47 yeahh baby
oo you can see the icons
THEY GOT THEM PICTURES IN THERE

I Half expect Pulseman to pop out of the screen!

Really? The fourth line at 1:43 looks like that? I always thought it went red-brown-red-green-blue-brown-purple-brown-red-yellow-white-green-green-green-white-blue-black . Thanks for the correction!
i love the part where it repeats e minor
yay! e minor! all right!
@@solinus7131 yes that is my reaction
2:02 sounds like it's bouta have a bass drop
1:04 rhythm games be like
If anyone wants to try it, on Linux you can call `aplay` or `paplay` and force it to play arbitrary data as PCM from files or streams. I know this because of the Bytebeat community
Or you can run `pip3 install binary-waterfall` then `binary-waterfall`. ;D
@@EllaJameson Thanks for the recommendation! That's more cross-platform
I saw a soul within the file.
So when the pixels go past the bottom they are played?
Or is it when they HIT the bottom
When they hit it. You can notice this in the parts where a sudden change occurs
0:32 that was not the phobos sound
asmr
0:30 Ask for genuine Microsoft Software with mspaint icons
So it just puts every single line of code, data, and texture into sound.
this does mean u can make mspaint using audio
