I love that very simple recipe of Impossible Cheeseburger Pie from the back of the Bisquick box. So many compliments every time I've ever made it. Bisquick has a whole category of Impossible Pies on their website from desserts to savory.
I’ve made this dish for over thirty years. Had seen it on the back of the Bisquick box back when I was a newly wed. I always slice tomatoes and bake them on top of it. It’s always been well liked at our house. 😋

Colleen, this is the second video I watched today from Portland, Oregon. I remember that back in the 1970's, the Bisquick package would show these wonderful Impossible Pie recipes. I made several, and they were very, very good. In later years, I could not find these recipes on the Bisquick box, and sadly, I could not find the ones I cut from the Bisquick box. Oh boy, I saved this video long before you were done! Up until the other day I had everything to make it, now I used my ground beef in American Chop Suey (or Goulash, as we always called it). That's so wonderful that you have those spoons so carefully carved by your dear father. I am using my mother's wooden spoons still, some go back to the 1940s. My dad used to carve also; he carved propellers. (He was a frustrated pilot and while he was in the Air Corps during WW2 -- Greatest Generation -- he was a top turret gunner, and never managed to achieve his dream I of being a pilot. I miss him so much. He was a GREAT cook and would have loved your channel.) I am watching from Connecticut.

We love the original Bisquick recipe where you cook 1 lb. hamburger with 1.5 cups chopped onions; drain. Blend 1.5 cups milk, 3/4 cup Bisquick, 3 eggs, 1/2 t. salt, 1/4 t. black pepper. Bake @ 400 degrees F in a greased 10" pie plate for 25 min. Top with 2 tomatoes (sliced) and 1 cup grated cheddar cheese. Bake until knife inserted in center comes clean, 5-8 minutes longer. We serve it with torn lettuce topped with mayo, plus dill pickles, mustard & ketchup on the side. It's simple & tastes like a burger. These recipes were developed for busy mothers who needed a quick inexpensive meal to serve their families.
