"Dipinto" is more specificic, it means is something literally painted (in oil, watercolors, etc..). "Quadro" is more generic, it refers to something that has been framed and hung, which could be painted or also printed.

I just learned the word painting today but I'm a little confused because there's dipinto and quadro so i wasn't sure which one too use
