- The Morris Minor is one of the most recognisable cars of all time, which is hardly surprising given that it was designed by the same man who penned the Mini.
But for Alec Issignosis, the Minor was a pet project, a way to get noticed rather than work to a commercial brief. How much influence the Minor had on the Mini, we don't fully know.
What we do know, though is that the Minor uses a similar A Series engine, and has about as much charm as Issignosis' little front wheel drive wonder.

In 1960s my late father had this car. The only Morris Minor at that moment in our village in Perak, Malaysia.
Do love the minor. Didnt realise they all made that noise, thought it was just ours!

You describe the Morris 1000 so well, and with enthusiasm! :-) I've often noticed & always liked the raspy sound from the exhaust during gear changes :-) there are a number of Minor enthusiasts who mention it! I had a Morris 1000 saloon for a while; a 1970, very old original model! It had the 1098 cc engine. As you said your one has the 948cc engine, I was surprised it featured a later speedometer, like the one in my car, with the black face. I thought they weren't a standard feature till 1964 when all 1000s' had been uprated to the 1098cc engine?

I love morris minor
Hold on a minute, that looks like the Morris Minor that I drove on one the Great Escape tours to the Morgan car factory. If it is the one, it felt like a death trap. The Jaguar XJS and 1990's Bentley were both so much more entertaining. The Minor is a great car as is the cars that wer ment to replace it, The Riley 1.5 and Wolsley 1500. I had a four door Minor 1000 and a Wolsley with twin SU's.

My grandpa doesn't want me to get a Morris minor he wants me to get a ford anglia 105e but the minor is cheaper to but more readily Avalanche parts and cheaper to insure so tough. I mean he has never even driven one
a wrx has a very unique sound granted more noticeable with an aftermarket muffler
