    Nice snow moving video, Dennis and Dorsey! Up in the mountains and blizzard conditions with a lot of drifting cold snow here in Sweden the only thing you can do to not get ice on windshield is to have it cold in cab. AC recirculation as well as temp just so high you barely can see your breath otherwise you have ice on inside instead. Survival pack includes a Helly-Hansen coverall, winter gloves, furhat and snow boots for long shifts! ;D

    Must be so tough on the frozen asphalt with the Ag tires, lucky enough that we get so much snow that we are able to run winter tires on our loader and grader plows. I know our Parks Dept runs winters on their MF and Kubota tractors as well. Amazing how much of a difference it makes but for occasional use chains are probably still a lot cheaper, set of 4 winters go for about $15,000-20,000 CDN for a industrial loader. Many folks do not appreciate the hard work put in by plow operator to keep the roads open during a storm. Keep 'er between the ditches. 👍

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment Dave! Yeah that’s just too much money to put in tires for a couple snows a year. HLA wanted $6600 for a new cutting edge for the blade that only lasts about 30 or 40 hours of road use we went a different route on that too.

    We ended up having about 18 inches. Out of curiosity we're putting our 6430 on with vdot. Would you recommend the wing blade on a frame or something like the 4000 blade you have on the loader? Have people say it would be to much for the loader but I'm not so sure I believe them.

    • @davecass485
      @davecass485 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Canadian speaking here that deals with lots of snow. Our loaders have the wings attached to the same quick attach frame as the blade, but the boom arms are VERY heavy duty. One major the thing to remember is that when you add the side wing as it puts A LOT of twisting force on the attachment when plowing and may damage the loader boom if not strong enough. Just something else to take into consideration. Should clarify as well, when I say loader I am speaking of industrial loaders like Cat, Doosan, Komatsu, etc..❄

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave is right the wing plow puts a lot of stress on things. I’m running a 10ft 4000 on my 6110r without issue but I’m not sure I would be comfortable putting the wing version on there. Maybe a 11 or 12 foot would work ok but the 4200w can go 16 feet wide that’s a lot.

  • @sunshaker01
    @sunshaker01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Corn Stalk Bales are not in the best place to prevent drifting from blowing snow. As a Canadian that grew up in a rural area every year the county and township would put up snow fences in the farmers fields to reduce drifting, but the snow fences were always 50 to 100 feet away from the road. This is because the snow drifts would start right at the fence, by having them out in the field the drift forms well away from the road making it safer and easier to plow.
