Hawaii's Most Haunted: Kaimuki Kasha House

  • It is perhaps one of the most well-known urban legends of Hawaii. Its story has permeated decades. Every generation, the hauntings at this place resurface and become an urban legend all over again. On this episode of Hawaii’s Most Haunted, we bring you the mythical truth of the Kasha of Kaimuki.
On August 13, 1942, an article appeared in our Honolulu Star-Bulletin that described a haunting incident that they blamed on the “evil” doings of Kahuna. Answering a call at 1:25am, Police Sergeant Moseley Cummins and Patrolman Robert Anseth found a 10-year-old Hawaiian boy and his to sisters, ages 18 and 20, on their living room sofa, shrieking in fear. The mother -- also shrieking -- was waving ti leaves and sprinkling Hawaiian salt to ward off ghosts. The mother stated that at 10pm, her 10-year-old son detected the odor of a ghost in their Kaimuki home. And apparently, angry at being found out, the spirits attacked him and, subsequently, his two sisters, repeatedly attempting to strangle them.
“My husband, who left me, is to blame,” the mother added.
After a struggle that lasted for a good hour and a half, the police yielded the troubled home to a Kahuna and took the woman to her sister’s home for safety around 3am. The Hawaiian woman’s earlier use of Ti leaf, water, and salt to ward off the harmful spirit proved to be fruitless as she now pointed out to the one police officer's arm, “Look, you’re covered with goose pimples!”
Fast forward to an October 31, 1972, Halloween editorial about local ghost stories that describes a call to HPD regarding a haunted house. Whether it’s the same house from the previous story from 1942 is unknown, because no address was given for either location.
What is known is that the urgent call comes from three girls who are sharing a house which the neighborhood considered haunted. The girls heard strange noises in the house like someone was moving around and talking. One of the girls said she felt unusual physical sensations of someone resting their hand on her arm. Consequently, their call to HPD involved a request for the officers to follow the girls to Papakolea where one of them lived. The girls got into their car and the officer got into his car and they drove down Waialae Avenue. Suddenly, the girl driving pulled the car into the Oasis Cafe parking lot... where the public storage on Waialae & Kapahulu is now.
According to the report that the police officer would later file, the girl sitting in the middle of the front seat began fighting off something that was strangling her, however, there was nothing there. The officer left his car and reached into the girls’ car to assist, but said that he was grabbed by a big calloused hand that was not there. It was completely invisible but it twisted his arm; that’s when he ran back to his squad car and radioed for assistance.
The officer then put the hysterical girl in his car and urged her friends to follow him but the squad car wouldn’t start. The second he placed the girl back in her own car, the other officer tried the motor and it immediately started. The two cars drove about five yards and suddenly, the door of the girls’ car flew open and the same girl fell out onto the road. She was tearing at her throat as if someone was choking her. Together, the two policemen were not strong enough to pull her hands away.
The Hawaiian sergeant ran into the Oasis cafe and came out with a handful of Hawaiian salt and a glass of water, which he sprayed on everybody. Calm was immediately restored.

In this series, Lopaka brings you some of Hawaii's Most Haunted places.
Master storyteller, Lopaka Kapanui, brings to life the feared Nightmarchers, the goddess Pele, Menehune, e‘epa, mo‘o and more. But… Hawaiian deities and spirits aren’t the only things residing in this island paradise. Here is also where the Japanese dog demons, the inugami, are sent to ruin the lives of unsuspecting families. Here is where the Filipino vampire-like creature, the aswang, roams in search of her next victim. And here is where the Portuguese witch, the feiteceira, spins her spells and curses at her whim. Rich in culture and traditions, these islands are overflowing with stories of ghosts and hauntings, creatures and curses. Lopaka is the keeper of these stories.

My late father was HPD, and he would always tell me the 2nd story, claiming he was one of the officers involved. I know it was bullshit (pfft, he would still be a minor in 1972 lol), but I just loved how he told it. Scared the shit out of me. Now, I actually have passed that story down to my son, telling him "this happened to your grandfather..." :)

I spent one summer with my sister in a house on 13th avenue and that place had creepy stuff going on in that house. It had a beautiful child’s room and a patio.. but things would disappear and reappear. It had a strange echo when you spoke, a shadowy figure would go down the halls and one time I swear I saw the walls breathing. And a bunch of other weird stuff. I think most of Kaimuki is haunted.

I've had a few ghostly encounters when I lived in an old house in Lanikai in the 90s. A hand shaking me awake x 3. Scaring my daughter. I finally sat up and said "Leave us alone now!" I waited, laid back down with her. It left us alone.

2nd avenue? Well, that explains the first story. But I live a block away from the 8th Ave house. I remember in intermediate when a haole family (I'm not sure if they were mainland implant or born and raised here, but they were Caucasian) moved in and a few months later, they were gone. I remember clearly asking my friend who lived a few houses away what happened. He said, the house is haunted.

here the real story. its called the worldwide Mud Flood and the Tartarian buildings everywhere. Lets start with Iolani Palace and why its buried 12 feet in the mud. its much older than they tell us try 400-500 years old. I believe it to be built by the old world civilization. Many bust of Phoenicians inside also the Royal Hawaiian Hotel has a hard to see Phoenician crest up on the top east side with a Griffin on it. Very heavy rain erosion on many mountains here like Koko Head and Punch bowl mountain? volcano? mud volcano? or giant tree stump? cause theres no lava beds around them. no graves before 1850 really ? no trees older than the Banyan Tree in Maui planted in 1850 lol. not a forest here with 1000 year old trees in the best weather in the world. All the old trees and graves got covered with the mud when the rains happened 1811-1813 worldwide earthquakes and 7 comets.

Worldwide earthquakes and 7 comets where did u get that.
If u look at this earth and how much intelligence had to be present in what created everything u see,
There is something no one with a brain can deny is some kind of entity created this earth and humans.
We didn't just spontaneously come into existence, there's to much perfect details when you analyze how things work harmoniously together.
There are spirits, anyone who doesn't believe or never experienced, that doesn't mean they don't exist because there's too many people that have experienced them and they are written in history in every civilization in every region of this earth.
Plus the elites all worship them and they admit it, they are open about masonry including the big 5 was deep into it.
God exists and he wouldn't let anything that he did not want to happen and happen for a reason happen by accident, no asteroid is gonna wipe out this earth, Mankind is not gonna nuke thus entire earth or destroy beyond repair, and the rich will not elimate all the people on the earth and make conditions base on the info on united n a t I o no website returning population to under a billion, the spirits on this earth are the fallen angels and their offspring when they created nephlems, there is a reason things have to happen the way they are but this crazy way of life that mankind has put all of in, barely covering the cost of living while the rich get richer,
If u believe their is a God, don't u think he is far more intelligent than all of us, so don't you think his plan for us is something far better than you or me could imagine, this complex earth and the creation of humans aren't just here and that's all there is, everyone wondering if there aliens and if we will live on Mars one day lol
Why would we live on Mars when this earth is fine the way it is and Mars is never gonna be a place anyone wants to live,
Mankind cannot solve its problems that is more than clear to everyone , we cannot trust other humans to rule fairly over other humans, there us only one that has the right to rule and ots the only things will be set in order, it's the only way the evil will be eliminated and the only way things will be made right and everyone has what they need and have their own land and home and food, God is the only one that is going to make things right for the Hawaiians, the people that deserve to live after judgment day will be the ones still here all the rest that just bring ruin to everything and take and take, they will be no more, and the land will be more than enough for everyone to have their own especially after 2/3 of the population is eliminate as foretold, and the ones that deserve to be brought back will be, and the island will go to its rightful owners
And all these big bang theory and asteroids and Mars and all these dumb theory 🙄won't have to be heard ever again, they never made sense and never will. There is nothing in the Bible that does not correlate to our written history nothing in the Bible has been disproven and none if the prophecies have been in accurate and what many don't know is the final prophecies are going on right now, the one world religion, that is not a small thing, gonna unite all the world's religions basically all the religions that use symbols and idols and use statues in worship, all the pagan false gods the Bible warned about including the pagan version of Christianity that is run by filthy rich old child molesters, look it up the catholic church is the harlot riding upon the beast drunk in its wine/ blood , when u see the disgusting thing in the high place, any religion u see gathered at any government organization you should know my kingdom is no part of this earth, gods people do not mingle with world leaders and back world wars or dress in funny looking robes that have pagan symbols all over, that look more like a pagan magician of the old days.
When Constantine was ruler he merged paganism and Christianity around 300 years after Jesus death that is why so called Christians celebrate pagan holidays
Easter is a pagan holiday and so is Christmas and Halloween
Look it up or watch a TH-cam video explaining it

I saw on TH-cam someone's video. A shadow figure can be seen. If you go traveling, Honolulu Airport has a lot of ghosts. I've seen a mist form into a man and walk through the wall. Also I turn off all the lights, except the office. I've seen a man walk behind me. Shadow people, ghosts that call your name, chairs move (Gate 6-according to the Janitors) I personally haven't seen anything. Bottom floor United Airlines Employee's used to see Shadow people running around. 3rd floor of Gate 6, Janitors say they can hear scratching in the walls. People see and hear Baby Crying. (Hawaiian Airline court yard-ocean side walk to the mountain) In the middle of the Airport there's the fish pond. Employee's say they hear like someone is running on the water. (that IDK, can be the fish) Just don't challenge the ghosts, by saying if you're real to show yourself. And say to the ghosts; not to follow you home.

I lived right up the street from this house next to Epiphany School for over 50 years. Don't remember any supernatural or spooky occurrences happening. Walked past that house hundreds of times to go to school (St. Patrick's) during my lifetime but, don't remember any of the things this guy is talking about. In fact. the house no longer exists, was demolished several years ago to build a care home facility. As a child the house Makai of this house across the street was spookier 👻 was like the Adam Family house. Good ghost story but not to factual when you live next door and know the truth.

In the video, I actually say that if you take careful note of the Kasha story in Glen Grant's book, the exact location of the house is never mentioned. Neither is it mentioned in the two newspaper articles, which were printed thirty years apart from one another. I use the picture of the 8th & Harding house simply because that is the house that seems to be generally referred to as "The Kasha House." Glen stated himself that it's not the actual house from his story but gave out a fake address to a caller one day. While we may know the truth, that fake address seems to have been taken for fact and then turned into legend as it was spread far and wide as the most haunted house on Oahu.

Then it really doesn't matter then...2 fake address equals 1 fake contrived story. Why even mention anything if the location(s) are unknown and cannot be confirmed. The Waialae Drive-In ghost lady was more believable. Click bait personified. I'll give this video a 👎just for its wokeness.

I don't say any of these stories are "fact" and I don't try to force anyone to believe or convince anyone of anything. The first sentence of this video is, "It is perhaps one of the most well-known urban legends of Hawaii." Urban legend. Your thumbs down for "wokeness" won't make a difference in anything.
