Yeah, I'm gonna wait for the rubber bridge pedal while secretly hoping that it's not still a thing by then.

Here's a weird thing, I recently bought an acoustic guitar cheap at a pawn shop, the reason I bought it was because it had a speaker in the sound hole connected to a jack. Being a tech I had to see what it would do if plugged in like a normal guitar. I plugged it in and I couldn't hear the strings that well, I said "well this doesn't work" but it amplified what I said like it was a microphone.

Flat wound strings are simply wrapped in a ribbon of wire instead of a round wire. Ground wound use a round wire to wrap and they grind the top half of the round wire off to make it flat.

that sounds like someone practicing guitar upstairs 3am while you staring at your ceiling, that's why it sounds sad

I play a classical guitar, every time I try an acoustic guitar, the neck is too thin and the sound is twingi..I have not yet found an acoustic that comes close to the warmth and full sound of a classical guitar..it's not supposed to do that, but it is really hard for me to connect. Anyone else feel this way?

I began with a steel-string acoustic archtop, but I appreciate the different sounds one gets from nylon strings and from the amplified steel strings on an electric guitar. Variety is good!

Maybe try flatwound strings if the sound is too brittle for your taste

I have a '72 Takamine classical that I love the warmth and tone of. It's in need of some repair and TLC.
It has its role in my musical world. Most of the time I use a steel-string (phosphor bronze strings) dreadnought or parlor for writing and recording.

I can see that, yes. But classical and steel acoustic are two different animals and generally for different styles. I'm the opposite when it comes to sound and feel, but it's only because that's my personal taste for playing. When I occasionally pick up my classical, I feel the neck is like grabbing a 2x4. When I play my electric, it feels too thin. My favorite and what I play 95% and am most comfortable and in love with is my Martin steel string.

I don't think "no sustain" is accurate. Certainly the ring time is shorter, but it doesn't immediately stop, like a hand mute.
I think the main effect is the loss of high frequencies.

I can see where this would have its place in certain styles or songs, but I'm not a fan of it just hearing it played by itself.

It's moreso a tool in a mix if you need a pizzicato sound. It doesn't sound "good" on its own because it is usually used in conjunction with other instruments/sounds in production.
