I dreamed yesterday that my high school class went to a DOWN concert, and after the concert everybody had to do an essay of the message of every song and also there was a press conference with Philip aswell. AWESOME; he shook my hand and I almost pooped my pants. I mean, the dream seemed so long, I can remember the concert hall and every song they played. That dream was so awesome.
Ive watched DOWN & Metallica in Kansas City,MO Phil's voice was mind blowing as it was an indoor concert .. you could literally feel the echo of Phil's Deep voice ...
Was that the year that they toured with megadeth and heaven and hell? Because that was the year I saw them and Phils voice was still great at that point. Their energy was incredible!!!! Did they ever get the crowd moving.
It is undeniable that Phil seems pretty burnt out , but you have to admit that he has tremendous courage to still put himself out there. He is still a human being like the rest of us, with all of his flaws and his strengths, who has made music that speaks volumes in terms of its impact on heavy music. To all those who delight in his dysfunction, I say shame on you. I respect him for making the attempt to cope with life and convey some fragment of how he views the world with us. RESPECT
Great post. I always thought that Phil never got as much cred for his lyrics that he deserves. When I see him I think of him as he was as teenager, like 15 years old. He must have had a hell in school, and probably made school a hell for others as well, but still, there you have him: a smart, thoughtful, sensitive person. hey guys im going to metallica concert on nov. 9th in ohio. down is with em but i never have followed down. loved pantera, so my question is does down do any pantera songs at their concerts? or any tribute songs to dimebag? cant wait to see em, just realized phil even had another band. guess i been lost.
from what i read in an interview he denied ever using heroine and he said that he was hooked on pain medication that he received after a back injury which led to the demise of his relations with pantera. he also stated that he was breaking that addiction and was goin to try and remain sober from those meds.
Damn, seems phil has grown a lot more introspective and deep man over the years haha and everything he says is so true, like the fact he's over the "rage" lyrics aspect, in over the under he doesnt even use the F word anymore, cool for him!
