Another video from www.sewingrepai... I liked your tip on the interfacing pieces to hold lining/hem together. Thank you for your professional video lessons.
Honestly, I didn't watch the entire video but scanned through a majority of it. It truly helps me understand why my tailor charges me what he charges for all types of alterations that he is doing. Truly, it's an art form. I won't complain about the costs anymore this point forward.

Many thanks Ravi for your comment.

I used this as a guide to shortening the sleeves on a pea coat. Thanks to this video, the sleeves came out perfectly, it looks like a professional did them. Thank you!
Loved the tutorial. I have sewn all my life, but never really got to involved in alterations. My 84 year young Mom needed a jacket sleeve shortened, I found your video. You showed things I had never thought of. Thanks for sharing such wonderful steps. I now want to watch all your videos, if you have more. Thanks, thanks, thanks....
Masterful class !! I always had problems shortening sleeves , you taught me a lot. Thanks !!! So glad I found you.
You are so welcome!
I am an experienced seamstress but alas not a tailor. Yesterday my daughter's friend asked me to shorten the sleeves of a tuxedo jacket for her 13 year old son. I agreed but when I got it home, I realized I had no idea how to work with a "man's" tailored jacket. I watched your video - bless your heart!!! I could not have done it without your excellent presentation. The jacket sleeve looks so professional!! (and it saved my daughter's friend quite a bit of money)
I cannot say anything but love you, before watch your vid I almost ruined my hubby's jacket and I was crying all over. But you helped me so much.
Thanks and love you!
That was an extremely clear explanation. You sir, are a natural teacher. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks from Canada!
Your videos are so detailed. This one helped me figure out how to reduce the puckering of the hem after it is shortened. I never thought of regrading the seam. Thanks so much for this video.
OMG, I'm am so very glad I found your video. A friend asked me to shorten the sleeves of a new suit jacket because the last jacket he had altered "by a professional" was messed up. I have been sewing my whole life but always shied away from alterations but I wanted to help this friend so I did a search and after watching your video felt confident enough to take on the challenge. It came out perfect and my friend was very pleased with the result. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and for making learning a new skill so pleasant.

My first attempt at this ever - and it worked very well!! Thanks! Your explaination of why is very good - made it easier to understand!
THANK YOU! My hubby just bought a new suit for his mother's funeral. I had to shorten the pants 2" which was no big deal. The sleeves needed to be shortened 3". The sleeves had vents which I cut off due to time constraints. Your tutorial is wonderful! Took me a long time to do the first sleeve. The second one was a breeze. I started working on the jacket yesterday afternoon and finished it today. He didn't give me much time, as the wake is late this afternoon.
I love this video!! I needed to shorten a family member's jacket sleeve and had no idea how to go about it. This video was concise, speedy and told you everything you need to know about shortening sleeves. The other ones on youtube don't show you the detail or don't speak at all. This video is the best! Thanks so much!

Wow, this is so professional! Now I need to buy a sewing machine!
Decided to redo my jacket was not great the first time. One sleeve down one to go.
I said it once before have to say it again. YOU ARE THE GREATEST. Every teacher
should take a teaching lesson from you. You teach, you do not show us how great you are which you are. Thank you once again one more sleeve to go.
Excellent thank you I'm useless with sewing but following you video i have managed just about to do it, and looking at it you wouldn't know it took me nearly 8 hours to do
Thank you! Like a 3D puzzle explained in detail. It worked and that cheap jacket I bought and have never worn is now 3.5" shorter in the sleeve and ready to wear for a friend's wedding. Thank you again.
Very simple and professional. May the blessings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ continue to be with you. Thank you!
Just finished my suit sleeve came okay for the first time. I watch many sewing

Well I just finished doing this on a cheap suit I had laying around. First sleeve took around 6 hours and the second sleeve 2 hours. I must admit the majority of that time was spent trying to get my head around how things worked. Thanks for the video!
WOW, respect for being able to stay on it that long
keep practicing, you'll be as good as the teacher one day
Thank you very much. I have successfully managed to turn up the cuffs of my woollen coat with your guidance.
Fabulous video! I just sucessfully shortened suit jacket sleeves THE RIGHT WAY. They came out beautifully!

Thank you for your video! I'm so glad I watched before trying to take my coat apart. The bit where you trim the sleeve at an angle to make sure it aligns was really helpful! I had to watch the part where you pull the end through the hole in the lining a couple of times. Thank you for a great tutorial! Another petite person rejoices this day!!!

Thank you for excellent video, just shortened sleeves on my mums coat using similar principles, she had messily turned over sleeves before, she has just bought a new coat, so practiced on old one first, but your instructions and video was so easy to follow I think I could of done the new coat straight off anyway. Brilliant tutorial.

You are welcome Amjad, thanks for the comment
thank you so much for this video. It was tremendously helpful and I can now shorten jacket sleeves in about 20 minutes.
Some great tips, but what about the vent that was there?
minor details 😆
This was brilliant - if one is dealing with sleeves without vents. I was. Being by no means a sewing expert - far from it, I have nonetheless just managed to shorten the sleeves of my new woolen coat by following your instructions, having been unable to find quality alterations nearby. I was somewhat concerned that I could end up cutting off too much so that part took me some time, as I hesitated, measured and remeasured, but got it right eventually and in time for the now colder weather, so a big thank you! :)

Glad it was helpful!
This was an excellent tutorial .. visuals were nice and clear and I really learned a lot. looking forward to more information from you -
I am working on a sleeve alteration for a gentleman who is missing part of one hand. He still has use of a thumb and partial finger, but requested that on sleeve be shorter to accommodate him. It is very strange to intentionally make different length sleeves. I feel like I need to defend myself when hearing your lecture on making sure to cut the same amount off. Love the video - it was a great help.
Thank you Slcrow82. I am glad I was of help to you. Good luck with all of your sewing projects.
Super professional I love it

Loved the video. I have a bridal alterations shop. And I do suit alterations as well. I've seen that trimming the sleeve to match up the difference before. I've always just let out the facing to allow for the difference. I'm never brave enough to slim the sleeve. The 😬

Excellent video and instruction, thank you so much for filming and most of all, sharing at no charge!
This was very helpful, and easy to follow along. Thank you for sharing! Would love to see the alteration with the vent too. I'm working on one as we speak, and I'm a little intimidated by it.
Thank you so much for this video! I refer to it often! The only thing I’m a little confused about is how you cut the sleeves to make the new hem fit. I tried doing that on a practice suit and ended up with too small at the cuff hem. Could you do a video or further explanation showing how you taper the sleeves to fit the new hem?

What brand of steam iron are you using. It looks great.
Very nice. Have you posted a video on how to tailor a jacket that's slightly too large?
Hello Micheal, I'm Loving your Website Sewing Guru it's Fantastic x I have learned so much already and I'm working my way through Ladies Tailored Jacket at the minute, so much to learn but I write stuff down and make notes and Love the way you can go back x I was up to Attaching the Sleeves to the Main Body, have done this loads of times, I made a Tiny Tweed Suit for one of my Bear's, I make Mohair Bear's - but had never heard of or seen before, Sleeve Header? I thought eh? watched the video and thought brilliant yeah that makes sense, I always usually sew the sleeve cap straight onto the Jacket part inside, the same way but without the header stuff, so I then today went to my local shop that I get a lot of sewing stuff from and the Women had never heard of it and didn't know what it was and I had to explain to them and they were Baffled haha, but I found some on Amazon, can't wait to do my sleeves with it the proper way haha x I have pictures I'm posting of it being made on my Instagram, ilovetosewandsew I have an original pattern from the 60's of a Coat I'm making from Boucle, I made the Toile first, thanks for your Brilliant video's, Love from Suzanne in Hull, Uk :-) x
Thank you Suzanne for the lovely comment
Hi that seems like a great iron can you tell me what kind it is?
