Yes he can ! That was an amazing night .. Johnny had dinner the night before with me and my friends in Asbury Park . The next night was the taping for PBS... I was with him hanging out until it was his turn to perform... he had to sing it 3 times in a row .. the first time the camera crew screwed something up , the. 2nd time the bass player blew the ending of the song and then the 3rd time was the clip posted here .. Johnny knocked it out of the park all 3 times ! He is still absolutely amazing
I just learned that his maternal grandfather was an opera singer, and he didn't know he had a singing voice until he was 6 years old in a Boston Church Choir!
Johnny, you still have the magic! You are still one of the top of the tenors in the business! You, Roy O. and Johnny Meastro. They are gone now, but you all have left us music to enjoy. Thanks for the memories!...........
Always love this song by him. Couldn't quite hit some of the higher notes this time around, but that's to be expected. He still did a fantastic job. What a voice. Great memory.
The four who sang backup are a the Modern Gentlemen , they also sing backup with Frankie Valli .. The other guy Asa , had performed earlier on the show , doing the same song . It was a PBS DOO WOP show
