The title misrepresents what actually happened on the day - especially in that second half. The Blues win wasnt inspired by Judd. Watch the replay. This mentality sums up the Blues's woes over the past 2 decades. Silver bullet theories in recruitment. Impatient with coaches and also making wrong coaching appointments. Not being able to hold onto players which was never an issue at the club in the past. Poor second rate leadership setting the tone for younger players to follow. The worst talent development programs at the club that often see young players stagnate and even go backwards. Still, this game was a classic come back by the blues in a final. But what i remember the most about the 2013 finals was the performance of the blues in the following week against an undermanned Swans. Totally embarrassing. You only need to look at one statistic - the tackle count of less than 40 tackles for the entire team - the understand how low the work ethic was and how poor the attitude was in that final. The club has under performed for 2 decades because it refuses to properly and honestly deal with its weak points and scars that dont seem to heal. And if you dont do that as an organisation the results will be totally predictable - mediocrity and repetition of the same failures. (incidentally, it was a team inspired performance in this final. If you were to mention one player for inspiring his team mates, I suggest you look at Nick Duigan's game. Not the most skillful player in the team, but nailed 4 clutch goals when needed. Mick Malthouse's choice for leadership duties at the club when he was first appointed. At Collingwood Mick was criticised for backing Nick Maxwell as captain. I recall many Collingwood fans saying Maxwell wasn't even in the best 22. Nobody can deny his leadership skills).
