You are the best with this information - and trusted. everything you have shown in these videos is amazing. Like others, OEM features are the best and I upgraded to a PCM 3.1 - all the electrical and parts were interesting to add. I also added the cable from the PCM to the dash for the on-screen nav. I now need to add the codes to enable the new functions (with the proper Code) and wanted to know if you have a video of adding codes for Nav, bluetooth, Chrono, usb/aux.
It's not something I have experience with as I don't need to upgrade. It might be as easy as simply setting the option at the top level and allowing the system to code these, but others like sports chrono aren't possible from what I've read. I'd be scouring the forums for info on what you need to code.
Wow fascinating Jeff ,, you have explained this very well ,, fantastic ,, I have a PIWIS 2 and no clue what to do with it, apart from diagnostics and erasing errors, I so want to program options like Comfort on the PCM 2.1 to run daylight driving lights , sports chrono, heated steering wheel , dipped side mirrors when reversing, but first I’ll try rain sensors….. thanks 😊 for explaining how to use the PIWIS ll so brilliantly I can’t wait to see more marvelous things from you that I can do with this tool…. MORE PIWIS PLEASE…
Hi Jeff, have you been able to code the Electronic Power Steering to GT3 calibration? Forums have lauded the much improved steering "feel" of the 981 after EPS recalibration.
Great video, thanks a lot! Do you know if it is possible to activate on a 981 the rear lights whenever the daytime running lights are on? And maybe also that the car always starts in Sport+?
Oh nooooooooo I’m only seeing your menu for the 991 and 982 981 , NOT on the 987 and 997 the I’m only seeing under additional menu 3 things VEHICLE ANALYSIS LOG (VAL) , CAMPAIGN & VEHICLE HANDOVER …….. 😢are you seeing the same on your PIWIS for the 997 under SIMULATION MODE ,,, I’ll plug in tomorrow and see but I don’t remember seeing maintenance of vehicle data when playing in the car ,,,, I’ve just seen you video on development mode RAIN ☔️ sensor activation, I will give it a go thanks again, you are the man JEFF well done …
Great info. Really irritating, I asked several Porche dealerships and an independant P specialist and none of them seemed to how to activate the rain sensor or kept themselves unknowing as none could or wanted to do it. Same for the start-stop, the dealerships told they didn't know how to, but even if they did, are prohibited by the importer to change it..
From my experience with dealerships, it's not a case of them keeping information from you unless it's an option you would need to pay for, like the rain sensor. I do suspect they wouldn't know, as I've struck this on numerous subjects like this for different car makes. Unless it's 'in the book' and they can 'follow the recipe', they are generally don't know it exists. They aren't interested in poking around the software like we are as it serves little purpose to them, and the risk to cocking something up and being unable to fix it is high.
Wow! I only just discovered your channel whilst having breakfast. Does this mean, I can activate rain sensing wipers in my 987.2 base Cayman? Thanks and all the best Roland Sydney
Sorry, but is there a list of options that be addressed and changed via PIWIS along with a list the requires a purchased activation code? Thanks for this!
Have a look at this video. It has a bunch of stuff including changing the customer specific settings. Initial explanation here th-cam.com/video/hBj5q1TFKf8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XIxXODbt_kPBuk6Y&t=395 and the roof/key stuff here th-cam.com/video/hBj5q1TFKf8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-L2khRP7_EXeyP6d&t=643
so Automatic coding will reset to stock values? I enabled Traffic sign recognition and remove it because it says error with front camera. But now the front camera error still persist. I hope I will not have to do a calibration ...
You mentioned that if programming these options, it resets any developer mode programming. Does this programming done here also reset previous programming done the same way? If for example, you apply one change like auto stop/start and program it, and then apply say rain sensors and program it. Does the second programming clear the first one? Or can you keep adding them one by one over time if need be? Thanks!
Once set in 'maintenance of vehicle data' it is there forever. It becomes an option that is set to the car permanently unless you deliberately remove it. You can do the individual items one at a time if you like, but it's just simpler to do them together.

I wouldn't take too much notice of what is in Sim mode. Far better to connect to the car and see what is available.
Agree - I have a 2005 987 Boxster. After Sales Mode: Additional Menu only has: Vehicle analysis log, Campaign, Vehicle handover
Cool feature 👏

Jeff, can PIWIS programme the soft top roof to open with the key fob as in the UK. My Canadian 2013BS does not work with the key. Thank you.

Is the rainsensor installed from factory always, so it needs only programming?
Correct
@@jeffrichardsoncardiy I did it and it works! thanks Jeff
@@torstend.9591 Great news. Enjoy.
How much will it cost to get piwis !?
An interface is about US$500. Software is free. Link here to all the details.
