ITN news report on Arsenal against Aston Villa on the final day of the season in 1980-81, with Villa seeking to become First Division champions. Includes an interview with Villa boss Ron Saunders.
@@edmundpower1250 We were, then crash! At least we came home from Holland with a nice bit of silverware for our efforts. Thing is I expected the treble back then! I was only 12.......
I love Ron Saunders in this interview. You just know he’s hard as fuck and proper old skool. Drops his guard to see a funny side as well. Godbless him. UTV
I was there that day. I have never seen Highbury so packed.
I was there along with 20,000 others. Still have the ticket, never to be forgotten.
Wow did you see how many villa fans were crammed in that end..
Yep, one of the biggest away turnouts Highbury ever saw. Mind you, considering the circumstances you were entitled to bring them numbers in fairness.
Shut your noise. Villa mug.

Ron's response about the best day in his life was perfect.
Ron was delighted......
I was there in the North Bank. I remember Pele doing a lap of honour. I was at Ipswich a few days before this . Arsenal beat them 2.0 as well.
Ipswich threw it away losing 6 of the last 8
@@edmundpower1250 Yes we did........40 years ago and it still hurts. Winning the UEFA Cup was a wonderful consolation though.
@@marksims3904 it should have been a marvellous treble... That Ipswich team were brilliant up to April

I need the longer version of this. I was there that day front row of the schoolboys near north bank corner flag holding a white football.
Mad, good old days. I was only 10… Villa brough half of Birmingham down!
26, 000 villa in the clock end.
T'old Ron, eh? He'd grumble about winning the jackpot on the lottery!

I was there. Biggest away contingent I've ever seen. A big thanks to Ipswich.
How exactly could Ron Saunders have done somersaults when his eldest brother was born?
Eldest boy, i think he said.
