Excellent post....lovely seeing not just the game, but the interviews and Greavsie/Newbon punditry.....I just hope one day someone will find footage of 2nd Division Villa's FA Cup win over 1st Division Arsenal in 74....I certainly remember ATV showing replay highlights, back in the day!
Villa Boy, Thanks for this very enjoyable derby match-great result for Villa against very committed Birmingham side! Good performances by Worthington and Gemmill for Blues and Allan Evans for Villa.
Looking back at our very own Eammon Deacy playing with the villa boys i had great pleasure of being on the same pitch with Eamonn back in Ireland playing a charity match when he was in retirement R I P to Eamonn and Gary ❤
@@steve9542000 well, it wasn’t quite so friendly when about 200 Spurs infiltrated the seats in the Railway in 1983...they kicked off but were soon kicked out...
Football highlights how they should be! Nowadays it's a rushed 7-8 minutes of goals, celebrations, shots of the managers and endless replays with 10 minutes of boring analysis by unpopular ex-players.
Alun Evans certainly wouldn't be in my top list....he struggled a bit in the Second Division, since Liverpool let him go,not the best striker ever.....Allan Evans however,he was the real deal, top defender!!
Used to love watching this on a Sunday..14 at the time...especially the mighty Villa
40 years ago today. I remember it clearly. Christ that makes me feel old!

I’ve just gone back to being 7 years old again. The theme music just takes me back to Sunday dinner times. Thanks for the upload 👍
Greavesie knew we were on to something that season!

I'm a avid Blues fan but thank you for the great memories villa Boy ❤️
Cracking match, hell of a Villa team that was and some great players in Brum's side...Frank still had his summer tan on too!

LIKE FROM ME. BAKU. AZE. I ENJOYED. MANY THANKS.
GREETINGS TO ENGLAND
Shows how times have changed .. Villa and Blues sitting together behind the goal ....
Your right mate, up till about 85 the seats were considered pretty neutral at most grounds and for supporters who wanted to actually enjoy the match.

These programmes were shown on a Saturday night in 1980-81 as MOTD was shown on a Sunday
Great memories, thanks for posting.
Alun Evans would be nailed on in my all-time Villa 11. Top defender and always could get you a goal

Frequently quoted stat.....Allan Evans scored 6 in a reserve match that Villa won 10-0
Villa’s kit was simplistic but perfect
I was probably at this match, my memory doesn't go that far back with any accuracy though!
2:28 there is a n4zi flag
Despite the result I love it lol
Ron Saunders looked a lot like Henry Fonda there.
Yeeeees ! K.r.o # b.c.f.c remember this on Sunday lunchtimes ..star soccer
