Happy Birthday my friend! Great result despite passing through a bout of unwell phase. Onwards & forwards now champion! Your dog closed it off with the best possible way! Animals are the absolute best & a man's best friend
Great job! You’ve come way further along than the 6w the grade gave you credit for. When I first started watching this channel you were under 500 subscribers. You’ll be at 2k before the end of the year. No FTP can match that growth. Keep up the great work.
Happy birthday Adam! Your FTP was great when you have been sick so much with only a little workouts after sickness. Your max HR should be 184 and doing beyond it is possible. Mine max HR is 174 but recently did 179 so it can beyond your age 220-age! Doing it to often probably not healthy but on the other hand you are just working max effort
Happy Birthday :-) can you tell me how your heart rate zones have changed due to your illness? I got a little sick at the beginning of november. I had a cold (or more likely covid) and took a week off. The following week I noticed that my heart rate is higher for very low intensity efforts (even walking) so i took another week off. in the third week i started with low intensity training. in the fourth week i took some blood tests to see if im ready for full training again. the bloodwork showed no problems. but even now, after the second week in december, my heart rate zones are slightly off when compared to the power levels. not much anymore, but its still not as good as before. i expect another couple of weeks to really get back to my october level (which was peak for me). how are you doing? have you lots of heart rate data from before your sickness that you can check? is it different to now? i think you are around 75kg, 36 yrs you say and your heart rate at < 100 watts is close to 120. is that normal for you or do you still have an elevated heart rate due to your covid? if so, i would be cautious to put yourself at your max heart rate (which is probably close to 195).
@@99cya thank you! Yup, my HR is surely somewhat higher at the same power than before the Covid, but I would guess that is the effect of detraining (as I almost reached my max hr during this test). That being said, my Covid was the last of a series of setbacks that were preventing me from doing any meaningful structured training. I wouldn't expect major detraining after a week off. It sounds like you weren't completely ok when you resumed your training (thus the higher HR). In the next two weeks when you were cautious (correctly so) you detrained a little. But those are just my guesses.
@@RoadtoA yeah i guess so too. last weekend after 2 weeks training (first easy, second closer to normal) i made an intensity test going up alpe du zwift. as i managed to arrive sub 60 with a perceived exertion of 8 of 10 i think im fine again. that said, i think people underestimate greatly the impact sickness has on the cardiovascular system. if i hadnt known my heart rate zones, i wouldnt have spotted the elevation as i felt fine. but it shows that the body needs couple weeks more after feeling fine again until it reaches 100% again. im no heart expert obviously but i can only imagine how hard a high intensity training must be for the body after just recovered from long lasting issues. take it slow and keep healthy 🙂
@@99cya Yup, the heart doesn't lie. It's hard to distinguish between when there is a problem and when you just detrained, though. Usually I use the elevated HR as a guide only during days when I expect it to be normal (and it isn't).
Happy birthday man! Great way to celebrate 😂😂 came across your channel the other day, I did mine today… held 322 for 15 minutes and it came out as 288 I need to stop eating chocolate 😅😅😅 85kg over here! What’s your weight if you don’t mind me asking!
Your FTP test is only 15min. You need 5 more min for the 20min ftp test. So cleary your not able to do 5 more mins at that power. the ftp you get is wrong. it's to high.
Why would he? That 220-age BS needs to die already, everyone should know by now that it is a a pure statistical average and cannot be taken as anything but a lucky guess of individual max HR. My max HR is now around 194 at 48 years old. In my twenties I was maxing out around 220, and there is nothing remotely special about that, plenty people around with similar numbers.

Congrats mate. But tell me why got only a 250W value for your FTP? Your avg power is 287watt, minus 5% equals 270W? Whats wrong here?
@@ThomasAmstad-y4i it calculates the FTP from Grade test differently. I'd say this result was about right for me!
