At the very end I forgot to edit the final scores from the previous vs. just listen to what I’m saying and use your deductive reasonings my friends. My bad on that. Busy day.
I think you did this at purpose, you couldn't make yourself to show the scoreboard with XTB wining over FT so you "accidentally" left the previous score in!! :D Just kidding man, great video as usual and props for making these vs comparisons as objective as they can possibly be. There is so much personal preference involved in our bots selection but with these videos everybody can get all the information about the figure to make decision for themselves. :) Both looks excellent and although I know FT is better quality figure, since I don't transform my bots often (or at all) $100+ price difference was not worth it as for that money I can get another slot in my collection filled.
Its really great that you take a few moments to raise awareness to help people out in the community who are facing life threatening struggles and circumstances. Bravo Bobby.
I could of gotten both but I really loved the accessories XTB came with. Also that $100 savings is $100 towards another bot. They are pretty much tied for a bot that sits on my shelves.
This felt like a pretty unbiased versus. I really dont think you can go wrong with either, yes there seems to be quality issues with xtb but thats more or less a headache that i feel like can be resolved, but it is a pain, but if you dont want that headache then spend some extra change and go FT. Personally i bought xtb because i like the look, paint, and colors better but thats me. Again great versus, great video!
True. I think the problem areas are mostly mitigated if you can exercise more care and caution to move those parts around. Or it's a non issue if you don't transform or pose it as much. One has to decide if those areas are worth a $100 additional cost to get the FT version and lose out on the other things they might like about Janssen.
Been collecting for about 2 and a half years now. Tesla 2.0 is my first Fanstoys piece. I watch reviews of just about everything and always wanted a Fanstoys but missed out due to price or me being late to pre-order. I have multiple Xtransbots like their Trailbreaker, Windcharger, Cliffjumper and their dreaded Wheelie. All I have to say is, I now know why people freak over Fantoys. Tesla is absolute perfection. Out of my small 66 peice collection this is the best. Solid as a rock and the pest paint in my collection. This made me a Fanstoys fanboy instantly.
Great video. I was not shocked by the results, just that BadCube Snuck in and tied out FansToys out of no where. LOL. I kept thinking I was okay with my FT Tesla then I saw XTB out and I was shocked at how good it looked. I was then considering it and I really wanted the accessories. Then I watched your review and you broke pieces of it and that kind of solidified my thoughts. The fact I wanted a figure because of accessories is kind of crazy like buying a car because I liked the Hood ornament or tires I guess? I feel this review was very objective as much as possible. I am happy with my FT version, but I must admit they need to rethink their pricing structure and production numbers as I feel like that now hurts them in staying on top. I have a feeling there will be some sort of kit that can convert the FT barrel to a working microscope, which I feel is something they should have done. I may be in the minority here, but I think it would be cool to see a Tesla 1.0 vs. 2.0 to see how much they have improved and how much the MP line has changed from Stylized to Toon accuracy.
THANK U, THANK U, THANK U for this vs video ..as I've b even saying, FT is the better figure but XTB isn't a trash figure...as u said, FT has the build & materials but at $100+ more it absolutely should...what I hope is XTB continues getting better at their price point to force FT to provide more at theirs similar to how they threw in all those heads at the last min...I feel like at a higher price point we should be getting the better figure & also equal articulation & comparable accessories...now personally, I got a great copy of Jassen & as a bot display collector his thighs are a none issue because his weight keeps them closed...but even I can see Tesla 2.0 is a more solid figure so collectors can have choices which forces all companies on their toes...
Now if XTB continues to get better the entire community will benefit from that. I stand with Janssen for this, for me it's the better figure even if not perfect
Great Comparison Bobby and you are Spot on...When XTB can hang with FTs than the Win must go to XTB. This battles comes down to 1 thing and that is Premium Quality. XTB will work for 70% of the Collectors, but for the other 30% of us...It has to be the More Premium Product and that is FTs. Overall Though, well Derserved WIN XTB.
I have to go with the Fanstoys because of their choice of red, that red is beautiful and it presents better because of it in my opinion. X-Transbots has the better blue though.
"...ehh, what are we talking about here?" Don't think I could agree more, and apparently the autofill echoed the same sentiment as I was typing that statement.
It really comes down to price. Preceptor is such a generic bot aesthetically. And that’s one of the big reasons why they are so close. That, and they are shooting for the same thing. I would love to see Takaras take on the character.
Main impression from this is that you are a great dad for all your daughters! Very respectful, kind, and it is obvious they are the "apples of your eye!" ♥Heartwarming! That aside, I watched your previous review of X-Transbots Janssen and I went to my BBTS order, cancelled my Janssen order and bought Fanstoys Tesla. It arrived Thursday and I love it and I am so glad I bought Tesla. It is inexcusable to have such fragility in a figure that you are paying so much for, I am glad I dodged the bullet on that one! To me, if something breaks it can never win a comparison battle. Thanks for being a great dad, the world needs more great dads.
I've rewatched this as I purchased XTB's and on the first transformation, the little hinge that holds the arm the scope sites on, the blue part right where it attaches to the back slider piece snapped. I was considering having them send me the part to replace the break, but I know it'll snap again because it's just not dense enough to withstand the little bit of pressure needed to put it in the chest cavity. I just ordered Tesla 2.0 at a steal for $150 and free shipping. And now I wonder if the XTB's accessories will fit with FT's? I'll see in less than a week or so, unless someone can comment that knows this. 😊
Kinda interesting to see the chipping paint on the Fans Toys. FT has some hollows under its feet. I think this was a pretty interesting watch. I appreciate your explanation of each of your calls that you had to make that may be considered subjective opinions.
If the figure can't stay together especially in all modes that's a mondo problem. The FAAAAANNNNSSSSTTOOOOYYYSSSSS is a brick in every mode. FT FOR THE WIN!!!!
Awesome versus, I to had an issue with XTB thigh, but after securing it tightly, i dont have that issue anymore. I don't have the standing issues as you have in the video, however that XTB is super heavy and I can see it being an issue later on down the road. Lastly my only true issu as of now, is I think the head on XTB was too small. This go round I didn't chose or purchase FTs because I wanted those minibots accessories. Hopefully XTB holds up for the long haul
I agree with you here. The XTB might take the win for a little more articulation and accessories, but the overall look and design of the Fanstoys is better imo. Yes the XTB is also cheaper, but if it breaks upon transforming, what's the point then? You'd have get another or just live with it. For me, spend a bit more to get what I really want.
Fanstoys for me is overall a bit better figure than XTB, but since price is also a big factor for me, and those 2 figures are so close, I cant justify FT price point and so I went with XTB, and I am happy enought with it, as long as I don't mess with it much, it looks spectacular in my display.
I had a family member that went through a similar thing. Couldn't imagine a child with it though. My heart goes out to that family. So much more important than a divisive toy, of course.
In my opinion: Accessories- XTB Gimmicks- XTB Build and Materials- FT Hardware- Tie Sculpt & Paint- FT Articulation- XTB Scale- FT Transformation- FT Alt mode- XTB Accuracy- FT Presence- FT Price- XTB FT- 6 XTB- 5 Even though we mostly agreed on the objective parts of the comparison we disagreed on the subjective ones. The funny thing is that at the end we agreed on which one we're keeping and displaying. Thanks for the comparison Mr. Skullface.
I went with Fans Toys simply because I liked the colors more. Plus, I guess because FT wasn't selling as well so I got him for a really good price, $145. I don't have XTB so I can't really compare them. All I know is I like the darker red of FT and I'm not a fan of the toon look of XTB as I'm not a fan of the pudgy proportions of it.
I would have scored it similar, giving XTB the win. I do prefer the red on XTB, and something about those skinny arms on the Fanstoys just didn't seem right. He looks too humanoid, like a slim swimmer body build. I was fortunate to get a good copy of Janssen, I don't have the gap in the thighs. But I do understand that it's an issue. Competition is good, I have both Fanstoys and XTB figures in my collection. I believe due to the competition it forced Fanstoys to provide more accessories. What I would like to see moving forward is XTB take a stab at a Blur, and Fanstoys take a stab at a Wheelie (but they need to drop that Blitzwing first). Great content as always, take care
I’ve been looking forward to this versus forever!! It’s kinda refreshing to see another third party company go toe to toe with fanstoys.. I for one went with janssen on this one.
This is the best VS ever. Your daughter cracking us up was amazing. Very fair points on both figures. Even though I own the Xtransbots. I have to agree the Fanstoys looks more appropriate. And then in the end having Bad Cube come out of nowhere and completely erase Xtransbots for a tie with Fanstoys was so dramatic and I totally didn’t see that coming. LoL. I’m just messing with you on that one but everything was great. Bravo Bobby. This was awesome.
the review from your kids was funny. Your daughter was like look at his eyes its like he's coming for you. Which is funny because we fans know Perceptor and that's not who he is, but from someone from outside the fan base I can see what she's talking about. made me laugh. Great review keep up the good work.
Thanks for the content Bobby! 😊 Spot on! I'm not sure but maybe you didn't know you can move the abbs up and out of the way on the fans toys to use a deeper abb crunch to almost 90 degrees. Not saying it influences your video, just thought you might like to know. 👌
Thanks for the nice review, when you say X-Transbots has a working microscope, does it actually magnify? That's the deciding factor for me as to which one i'm going to buy. thanks so much
LOL Badcube's like "My brand is so good we not only scored points in a Perceptor vs. video, but we tied it out, too...AND WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A PERCEPTOR!"
Let's be fair, no matter what you think off the xtb perceptor it's pretty amazing that they are this close/beating ft for about 100 bucks less. For me the video still does not help me in deciding which to get. There are things in both that I like and dislike, might just get them both. Great vid again.
As someone who owns both figures. I feel this was a really fair comparison. I agree with all your points on both as I myself made the same type of comparisons. I do find the Xtb to feel as the more toon accurate so i display the FT one with the idw head
With a 3% off code I managed to get Fans Toys Tesla 2 for 135 on TFSafari on sale. I am glad I waited this is one of my absolute favorite characters and I got a good price on my favorite version. Other characters I would not have waited so long but I am glad I did for Perceptor.
while i think the fanstoys looks better overall in the bot mode, it’s a slight edge and definitely not worth the extra hundred+ bucks, so overall i’d say xtb did it better
You have to ask yourself, if money wasn’t an issue which would you chose. Now I’m sure having bought the XTB already, the law of confirmation bias states that you will still most likely choose XTB. What I can say to this point, is out of everyone I know that got both, there is a clear winner, and it is NOT the XTB.
@@mikehock5285 Quite probably! However, are those who bought both merely forgetting how expensive FT is? Do they consider FT worth the extra price? I'm asking genuinely, BTW. I don't want to dig through all the agressive fanboy/hater posts ;-)
@@TransformsIntoAGuitar I am admittedly a fanboy. Why is that though? The term fanboy gets lost into why? Why do people pay the extra money and purchase a product? I damn sure wouldn’t like it if I bought a substandard product at a premium price point right? So, am I a fanboy because of the consistent solid releases that look exactly like the ideal for that character? I mean quality is an objective term. I can say one looks better than the other, but that’s nothing more than an opinion. But quality, material usage, those are completely objective things that in the end justify the increased price imo. All I can say, is if Fanstoys put out 10 products, and 6 of them were questionable quality and build, they would have no fanboys.
I agree that the weight of each criteria shouldn’t weight more than another ie. the price of the figure. A lot of the time, that price means better sculpt, materials and aesthetics however (and that’s kinda a big however) when you are getting something so similar, so tied, so equal, you gotta wonder if price should weight a little bit more…not in the unbiased review of the figure, but in everyone’s minds. The only real aspect of presence the fanstoys has over the txb is the paint however since both of then are going for extreme cartoon accuracy, you could make the argument that txb’s paint is better. if they were the same priceI I personally would still go for the xtb however the fact the fanstoys could be double just makes it an instant win.
What I find sad... is this is FT 2.0. Imagine if XTB did a 2.0 and fixed the thigh, tabs, and shoulders(tolerance on transformation) . I really like the paint and sculpt of the XTB, but knowing how fragile it is in transformation. due to the engineering, I want to smash it against the wall. They both look great but a few things they could both have done to have that clear choice win.
I actually prefer the Original G1 toy, looks just about the same and isn't complicated on purpose! it's one of the best G1 toys to be honest with the most articulation for it's time. Why can't any of those companies just take a hint and quit with the unnecessary complications?! it just makes their figures less fun to play with and more fragile!
Great comparison as always. Like most, I wanted a clear cut winner. Some may believe that there is one. Personally, I’m split. To me, the XTB is more show accurate and has better articulation while the FansToys quality is superior. If Takara ever tackles Perceptor, it will probably be the definitive one.
In terms of the sculpt....the two analogies I can use to describe them are: 1. The FT one looks like a good looking person who is cosplaying Perceptor. Like, you know out of the costume the guy plays sports, has a likeable and sociable attitude, and probably works as a contractor or something. The XTB Perceptor cosplayer that has a more nerdier look to him. He's wider and more goofy looking in the face. He doesn't have the athletic build as FT so his legs appear shorter and the shoulders are lower. 2. The FT Perceptor is fanart done by a really good artist with really good art program to color it in. He's got a look that matches the artist's style and not really going for 100% accuracy. The XTB one is also fanart but this artist colors his work differently, and wants to try to make it as accurate to the source as possible but can't quite get it there yet. Maybe some people might agree or disagree, but there's no real right or wrong on here if one were to go by these analogies, imo, in terms of how these two look.
A small screwdriver does wonders for the stability of Xtransbots. I tightened the leg screws and this took care of the thighs. They hold together with no gap and don't separate unless I want them to.
It's a shame X-Transbots couldn't tighten up their QC just a bit more (and add latches to the thighs), because it would have made the already-close competition even closer. Still, if they do a Magnificus repaint, I might get that and end up with both moulds anyway.
Great Vs again Bobby. XTB squeaks out a win vs the big dog. I agree with it all, and I’d love to see the blue of the XTB w the FT red. The price point is huge for most, but it make me wonder what we’d get if XTB put another $25 - $50 worth into the figure…it would still be cheaper and maybe could address some build issues.
Excellent vs. Overall, I do think FTs is a better figure, but in light of never having a problem with Tesla1.0, I grabbed the XTB, mostly because I like the accessories. I also don't like Preceptor enough to pay the FTs price, which is double what I paid for Tesla 1.0. This is one character that I would even consider a non transforming figure because I don't care about the alt mode, and will never transform him anyway. I have never felt the need to transform Tesla 1.0. None of my displays need a oversized microscope. Thanks Bobby.
I think it's pretty telling that throughout this video in almost every closeup of both toys there are clear paint chips. I've stopped buying these deluxe third party and also some first party figures due to the paint chipping.
5:42 I cant unsee that black square piece thats sitting on top of each of Tesla's shoulders. They are supposed to be centered and tabbed in. Just like the XTB version.
At the very end I forgot to edit the final scores from the previous vs. just listen to what I’m saying and use your deductive reasonings my friends. My bad on that. Busy day.

I have to go with the Fanstoys because of their choice of red, that red is beautiful and it presents better because of it in my opinion. X-Transbots has the better blue though.

hey bobby you might want to edit this again you got what I'm assuming is Huffer's score cause you got Fanstoys 4, Badcube 4.
The score card say 4 all FT VS badcube and not 5 - 4 for XTB VS FT, Bobby!
If you can afford get both, make your own decision, sell the extra or put on movie shelf. I went FT because I am a closet defander.
XTB just put Fans Toys on notice, with this figure anyway.
@@AgtWashingtub made the decision just now to get the ft one first and pick up the xtb one at a later date. Indeed for different shelves.
@@jonathanb1987 indeed as far as I am concerned. Which is good, more options for us fans
As someone who owns both figures. I feel this was a really fair comparison. I agree with all your points on both as I myself made the same type of comparisons. I do find the Xtb to feel as the more toon accurate so i display the FT one with the idw head
Janssen has cool accessories
That laugh man... Too bad I didn't quite caught what your daughter said. Something about "he's coming to get you"?
With a 3% off code I managed to get Fans Toys Tesla 2 for 135 on TFSafari on sale. I am glad I waited this is one of my absolute favorite characters and I got a good price on my favorite version. Other characters I would not have waited so long but I am glad I did for Perceptor.
"He's coming for you" I had the same response to that as you did Uncle Skully
Badcube 4??
while i think the fanstoys looks better overall in the bot mode, it’s a slight edge and definitely not worth the extra hundred+ bucks, so overall i’d say xtb did it better
Same, thats why i got xtb
@@kup98ss49 I got XTB because I missed the FT preorder. I'm glad, actually. I saved quite a bit of money and got something with more poseability.
They may seem a little tall compared to the carbots, but the carbots are all a head too short. Kind of wish we got new ones.
What's with all the paint defects on various parts on Tesla? Did those occur during transformation or were they there from the factory?
Butterfly gives XTB the shoulders.
Proof that you are fair. Great video!
I know which way this is going to go even before the video starts
Colour me surprised
So if price is no object.... they're a tie lol :)
Haha. 4 to 4 Fanstoys to Badcube. 🙂
I was going to go with X-Transbots, but once I started seeing their figure easily fall, or have the leg become loose so easily, I went with FansToys.
Great and surprising vs. You have a very infectious laugh, too. Watch out for Perceptor ... he's coming to get you!
Nice bro
Am going to have to buy them both! As always amazing review!🐱🚀
I agree you win with either one they are both good for different reasons. Which ever one fits your collection best.
They forgot put the autobot Sign😠
Bobby "loves Keith and is now doing the XTB boxart" Face!
Thx that was really helpful!
I actually prefer the Original G1 toy, looks just about the same and isn't complicated on purpose! it's one of the best G1 toys to be honest with the most articulation for it's time. Why can't any of those companies just take a hint and quit with the unnecessary complications?! it just makes their figures less fun to play with and more fragile!
xtb and badcubes are sister companies?
XTB and KFC are sister companies. Badcube is separate and basically dead.

In terms of the sculpt....the two analogies I can use to describe them are:
Good morning everyone
A small screwdriver does wonders for the stability of Xtransbots. I tightened the leg screws and this took care of the thighs. They hold together with no gap and don't separate unless I want them to.
Bloody fair review there.
I fundamentally disagree with the conclusion but can see how you can get there. Thanks for the video.
I think it's pretty telling that throughout this video in almost every closeup of both toys there are clear paint chips. I've stopped buying these deluxe third party and also some first party figures due to the paint chipping.
Yeah, I noticed that too. A shame, for sure.
Didn’t like Tesla 1.0 face at all glad they came out with 2.0
The only rich country in the world that needs a go fund me for Healthcare, very sad.
5:42 I cant unsee that black square piece thats sitting on top of each of Tesla's shoulders. They are supposed to be centered and tabbed in. Just like the XTB version.
