    Quality shooting, that sound on the hits is awesome 😁

    Lets be fair, with those bands and 11mm lead, even that second shot that missed would still be a dead rabbit/pheasant.

      Exactly that mate, that’s why I use the heavier set-ups. You can be a little bit off, and still make a clean kill.

    Powerful shooting that Wayne, Im having a spot of bother shooting 11nm steel with the goblet evo. I've noticed that with certain animals i previously wasn't killing them with body shots with steel ammo so i am under the impression that the issue is i needed to max out my bands a tad more. Today ive been shooting 0.85 great white (i think it might be the 0.80 stuff) with them fully maxed out but the hand slap is proving very sore and disappointing when shooting at my makeshift catchbox. I do see a far better speed and i feel this is exactly how i ought to be shooting 11mm for effective kills head or body for longer ranges. Could you do a video please Wayne on this problem on how you counteract the hand slap. I have been trying to throw my hand forward with the momentum like a half second after i know the ball has passed through the forks to change the course of the return of the bands so i don't get slapped. Is this the only way this issue can be avoided in your opinion?

    • @CattyShackHunter
      @CattyShackHunter  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello mate. Forget body shots, it’s really head and neck shots only. Hand slap is a really individual thing, it can be caused by several things. Too much power being used, for the size of the ball being used, or your bands are too long. If your bands are completely maxed out, I would say go back to how they were and focus on practicing accuracy for head and neck shots only. It doesn’t matter the power you use with 11mm steel, body shots will never be reliable or humane in most instances.

    Literally can't understand how you're that accurate! Do you do any instinctive bow shooting?

    • @CattyShackHunter
      @CattyShackHunter  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you mate. No none at all, but this isn’t really instinctive shooting, you can aim a catapult…to a certain extent.

    • @joshwilkinson947
      @joshwilkinson947 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CattyShackHunter I reckon you'd be a natural! It's mostly about constancy with your technique, and using the tip as reference, so there is some 'aiming' involved. I expect a lot of your gained technique would pass over nicely, ie, you're elbow positioning, smooth release etc👍 How's your lurcher getting on?

    • @CattyShackHunter

It's not just yours, mine don't like how pigeon feathers seem to fall off in their mouth. The greyhound cross will do it, but regrets it after! Hopefully I'll get more this year with my Goblet Evo, hoping to upgrade to the metal one by the end of the season 👍

    What caliber of ammunition do you use?

  • @jaredjerabek9312

    Hi Wayne, quick question, should one expect skin penetration with a 9.5mm steel or lead on a squirrel (body shot)? I have been getting successful kill shots on small American red squirrels hitting the vital zone but wondering if I'm doing something wrong since there is usually no entry wound.. thanks for any expert advice !!

    • @CattyShackHunter
      @CattyShackHunter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it’s very rare to pierce the fur layer of a Squirrel on the body (piercing on the head is normal) What usually happens is the ball creates a hole in the skin layer, underneath the outer fur layer of the animal, as if the ball had passed through…but it hasn’t. Mass internal damage, but seemingly nothing from the exterior.

    • @jaredjerabek9312
      @jaredjerabek9312 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CattyShackHunter Great thanks Wayne, I was about to give up hunting them as I didn't think they were ethical clean kills without penetration (although they died in short order). Now that makes sense since when I clean them they have massive blood and damage to the vitals in spite of no entry wound. Thanks again!
