    I wanted to drive across the border and o2j shift box & tower swap this so bad. I'm interested why the mk3 set up went in. When the mk4 set up is 100% better.

      Hahahaha i knew someone was going to chime in on that at some point, because i thought the same thing the whole time i was installing it in! Moral of the story is... the owner bought the whole mk3 swap and ended up sinking quite a bit of quid into a full rebuild after going in for a chains refresh, and a lot of other goodies along the way, more than im sure was anticipated and as we all know its hard to stop and say enough is enough.... So with that being said, I'm just trying to get the setup in, and up and running for him, so he can enjoy it for now. Its an easy upgrade in the future once hes sure the build operates as planned, runs, drives, etc... and he gets some smiles. i know he has more planned down the road so im sure the 02J can be added to the list.
      Speaking of which, American residence can come north now, my door is always open my man, on the colab we discussed! Wish the reverse was true (sad face), borders still closed heading down... Those reading this that would love us to do something together... drop a reply on what you may want to see! Id suggest a mk1 vs mk2 battle but we all know who would win that one! Ask Jeremy... im sure he would agree lol! Jokes!!
      Cheers!!! Appreciate the support!! and good luck with the WAFFLE, i want dibs on the winning ticket!!

      @@MysteryGarage I'd LOVE a Mystery Garage/Rawson collab! Maybe a battle of the VR-powered cars, with Jakes 24v and you're 12v 'charged car?

    Dude, I am SO STOKED about this series! I'm amassing parts right now for a 24v swap into my Mk2!!!! It's getting closer everyday! (Pulled the complete harness yesterday, along with the radiator, etc, from my 2003 Jetta Gli donor car)
    Keep up the great work!!!!

    Top notch install and your attention to detail is the reason why I keep coming back to the Mystery Garage every Wednesday. The owner JR must be pumped to see this all coming together. Keep up the great work R!

    Gl on building a O2A now. I’m building mine completely, and there is nothing out there anymore. Was lucky to find a reverse float gear from Portugal oem, and an oem new 1st, 2 and synchronization hub from Romina . Vr6 pinion shafts are non existent now new. Hold on to these 02As, they are going the way of the dinosaurs

    Wow I didnt even know there was a way to use the Mk2 Subframe. All the Mk2 VR swaps I have done I used a VR6 Subframe etc from a Corrado.

    • @jasonb9629
      @jasonb9629 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah if anyone is looking to do things the easiest way just get a VR6 Corrado or Passat donor car. That way you get all the proper stuff like the bigger brakes, wide track suspension etc. The only real customizing to do is in the braking/clutch department. Usually I dont bother with the ABS swap as I like it better without it but I have done the full swap on one car. If your not going to use the ABS then you just take the mounting bracket that goes against the firewall and cut the part off for the hydraulic clutch. Then you mount the hydraulic clutch and get a small reservoir for it. If your going to do the full ABS swap then you can just swap the whole master cylinder over from donor. Its easiest to just swap the entire car wiring harness and fusebox. If you do it slow and take your time and keep things neat it will turn out looking identical as if you were looking under hood of a VR Corrado. Its a big job though! Also if you use the Corrado subframe you need to clearance a small section of the body on the passenger side so the crank pulley doesnt rub. Just heat with a torch and hammer it in. Just a little dont go nuts and weaken the structure! You will see what I mean once you look at the pulley. One last thing and this is important for safety! If you install the wide track front end then at very least space rear wheels out the same amount! If not when you corner hard the ass end will kick out and handle very unpredictably. Best method is to just swap the whole rear axle assembly! Good luck!

    Great job mystery your up to the cardboard list part of the build! Funny you bring up the power steering. I have been thinking of retrofitting an electric MR2 or Benz A Class pump to the stock Mk1 rack. We'll see how it goes anything to take load off my little 16V! Can't wait for the next video!

    You'll want to space up the P/S reservoir bracket or it'll run into the front-top bracket for the trans. That's the only real thing that gets interfered with in the swap. Or mount the MK3 one how you want. Good work. I like those kits; I just can't seem to justify spending the cash on them for these swaps. Also, that intake pipe is unobtanium. Even the Ford part you used to be able to get from EU-based cars isn't available any more.

    • @MysteryGarage
      @MysteryGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya ill sort that out. He doesn't have the bracket currently for the mount so i might use a mk1 unit i have which can be universally mounted! Ill show you what i mean when i get there! #mk1partsallthethings Appreciate the support as always!! Thanks for watching!! Cheers!!

    I'm from Portugal, I want to change to a vr6 engine in the mk2, but I don't know which supports and front bar to use, or measurements to manufacture.
    Can you help me?

I would want to no what too look out for when buying an engine second hand. how do i no if a 2H,KR or VR6 is good for going around the moon and back with out needing a rebuild.
