Great video, I mix both itb and hybride on an analog console with outboard gear. My hybrid mixes have a different sound than my itb mixes. I see them both as very useful tools and there isn’t one better than the other. Also I like to quote Andrew Scheps who said that we don’t mix for forensic analysis but for music to listen too. What sounds good and works well for one engineer could be a bad idea for another engineer. Same as monitoring speakers, some love Barefoots, some love ATC’s, others like NS10’s. There is no good or bad, there are tools and some can work for your preference and some don’t. 😊
I’d love for you to compare the 500 series SSL bus comp to DIYRE’s g bus comp (19 inch rack version). I’m saving up to buy one of the DIYRE units as I really liked how you can dial in some “vintage” color with it. Maybe you can get Peterson to send you one to review :)
Interesting stuff, thanks. I checked out the Link Audio stuff as I'm looking for a Drum bus EQ and it looks great. I was thinking about a pair of SSL 500 E series EQ's, but the Link Audio stuff made me think. There's not much difference in price between the SSL's and the Link Audio SSL type EQ's. BTW I think the problem with Waves stuff, other than it being a bit dated, is that they are a horrible, duplicitous and mendacious company and just mentioning Waves leaves a bad taste in people's mouths/ ears. Just my opinion of course.
Hi there, Iike your content, its interesting and informative and your accents reminds me on my days touring Australia in the 90 ies ... keep up the good work. Toni
I'm thinking of switching to a 500 series signal chain. I'm currently using a Shure SM7B that's connected to a cloud lifter that is going into a DBX 286s, which then plugs into a DBX 131s. Is it worth switching? I'm using it for voice only.
That's a clean setup. I'd say get all you can out of them before you switch. You'd be surprised what you can do with affordable gear and great technique.

The Camden Harmonic EQ should get you where you need to be EQ wise. I'm saving for two of those right now.

Been super interested in Z&H. I do find RND to be extremely clean. Their incredible units, and ooze refinement. I find they love organic instruments
Theyre great, I just dropped a video on the v250's as a sound demo. You should check it out! They sound very good!
