P51 has always been my favorite plane my dad and i use to be big in model planes and I have a VQ red dago 40, we ended up putting super Tigre 51 in it and that plane would flat get up and go. This makes me want to go get it out and restore it.
So here is a little known fact about the P-51 that will make you go wow!!! At the end of the war we were producing aircraft at a still crazy pace because we wanted to make sure we were covered no matter what. We finally called off the production pace once it was sure the war was actually over, but by then we had a pretty huge surplus of aircraft one of which being the P-51. The war department started selling off these aircraft for $500.00 per plane. They were advertised as "These planes are gassed up and ready to go. You must be capable of flying the plane from the airport they can not be delivered." Talk about wishing you could be a time traveler!!!

Hi folks! Just a tip for a good warbird landing…keep throttle until touchdown like a jet 👍🏻 you want to touch main wheels first with tail up so you may need 20/30% throttle to land a warbird 🤓

Just put in a huge order to Arrows RC, really nice looking mustang, great flight even with the little roller coaster effect, maybe cut down your throw rate but still add some expo. And as always Abby does a great job on the camera.....

It's pretty much a standard setting for me anymore to program in some expo. I really do prefer that feeling of finer control towards center stick, with the higher deflection farther out if I need it.

Nice Mustang. I have never flown a plane with Expo...sounds like I need to experience it. The only quibble would be...the Main Gear retracts look/work great...but unless my eyes deceive me, the tall wheel (and doors) stay down all the time (which kinda ruins the look in the sky). Hope you all are having a great week.
one of my faves, i love the mustang and the f4u corsair. great size too. id not put the extra stuff on for flying but would keep them on for display purposes

I can understand a model flying better without external fuel tanks and/or ordinance but I much prefer to see the flight videos with everything hung on the warbird.
Curious why you didn't land the plane to check the control horn and put in expo. I don't think it would have at all hurt the video to have seen that. Anyway, it'd be nice to see the plane flown again without the elevator twitchiness.

Nate...I set 100% rates 0 expo and then add 80% with 25% expo and 71% with 30% expo..I do that just in case on my first flight something is to sensitive I hope one of the other modes will help me with control till I can land and make some adjustments after I see how it flys. This is some plane I may have to buy it! God bless

Nice, it has the D-Day Invasion stripes on it. Google tells me that it is modelled after the 1/48 Tamiya P-51D model painted by Bill Weber. Definitely needs some adjustment on the elevator, be it expo, or push rod adjustment..

Expo is sort of hard to explain in comments, but it basically “softens” the controls. Makes movements on the stick less noticeable near the “center stick” position. Helps with landings a good bit. I hope this helps! 👍😁😎⚓️
I heated up a piece of sheet metal and melted a little bit of the battery compartment and fly mine on 4s. It's torque roll on take offs it touchy. Easy on the throttle and no flaps used on take off. I fly mine on a seven channel rx and even use crow on full flaps. I've crashed her a few times and she still keeps flying. Glue & go. Awesome little bird. Flying it old school is a blast. No AS3X just expo. Not good for grass 😕 but other then that , Awesome war plane

It is living up to a "warbird" expectation - can't be a novice and fly this. Definitely need to be able to fly more than a trainer to fly this. Really glad you didn't plant that in the ground when doing a pass.

How ya figure? The 1.2m E-flite is $320, and is the closest equivalent to this plane. I believe you're comparing to the 1.5m, of which is not a fair comparison. So, it's $90. At that point you'd have to compare actual features between the two and decide if the $90 is worth it. The Arrows doesn't include a receiver at that $230 price. The ESC also doesn't support telemetry. And the E-flite is slightly larger.

For you 'newbies' just starting the hobby, EXPO, short for exponential, is literally the DUMBING DOWN of your control arms for rudder, elevator, etc. It is about the same as manually selecting which hole in the usually metal/plastic horns fitted onto the control surfacesthe. The push rods connect to tiny servo motors controlled by the transmitter. Instead of MANUALLY selecting a hole on the horn, it is done electronically; think camera with stabilization for the image, smoothing things out a bit. And you get to sort of DIAL IN the amount of dampenning needed_ way cool! OR, if you are coming from mostly flying 'quads' or such, think of the switch that make the swash plates travel a bit less for smoother flights... more so for true helies.

Normally only larger 1.5m foam or much larger balsa warbirds have a retract at the rear.

Can you put a servo slower on the retracts. They are just to fast. I put one on my large Augusta helicopter and it was a lot better..
No, they are purely on-off, you cant control the speed.

This one is just under 200 £/$, which you need to add a transmitter and receiver, a battery and a charger so for all that including the plane it will be about 300 to 350
Forget the expo and just cut the % down

If I can be helpful Expo is used to isolate control surfaces, so each person Expo settings will be different. To set up Expo put your plane on a stand and with the motor cutoff switch on move your aileron stick and see if any other control surfaces move, if other control surfaces move then add more Expo until the control surfaces isolate, do this with each control surface until all the control surfaces are isolated that is your Expo. Your Expo could change with caffeine because your hands get more jittery, hope that is helpful to you.

Ok , I just watched this plane from another TH-camr .
It's really tail heavy making it really hard to fly.
He end up going with a 4s pack ,no stabilization and it flew perfect afterwards.
Eleven Hobby version as half the price.
Do me a favor. Put 50% expo on elevator with no other change then tell us if you hate it!

I thought the tail wheel was supposed to retract.
Not on this model, which is just a little over $200. This is fairly common on RC planes in this size for the tail to remain there. Just keeps cost down and smaller moving parts. Good point though 👍😎⚓️
I cant think of any warbird in this 11-1200 size thats has a retractable tailwheel, you need to step up to the 14-1500 size to get that. My FMS 1400 Mustang has both retractable tailwheel and wheel well doors, so does the E-Flite of the same size. And they cost roughly twice of what this model cost. A tip is to cut of the doors, it makes it less noticable in the air.
Its tail heavy, expo won’t fix that lol move that battery forward.
Porpoising without input is usually indictive of the CG being off, but if you watched the video he said the elevator was sensitive meaning he either has too much control set in the radio which could be adjusted via the rates or adding expo which will lower the senstivity. Essentially it was only porpoising because he was over controlling the elevator.
@@FlailinMonkey i’ve been doing this a long time, no matter how sensitive the elevator is it’s not going to porpoise like that that is nine times out of 10 tail heavy. Or incidents being off from the wing to elevator but I would say tail heavy. Nine times out of 10 everybody flies warbirds either dead level or slightly tail heavy and that is a true tale sign right there.
