I felt the opposite. It felt more cramped and smaller, the steering was stiffer, the controls felt more intuitive. Honda provided more features for less. And then there’s the legendary Honda reliability compared to KIA’s. In the end, even my kids liked the Honda more.
It has nothing to do with popularity and everything to do with production numbers. Hyundai/Kia were producing significantly less and that has since been increased but still not to the level of VW and Toyota. The waiting lists and price gouging speak more to popularity than the sales numbers.
Not gonna pay $50k+ for cheap plastic interior. Honda and Toyota have always failed to deliver in terms of interior finish and quality. The prices of their vehicles went up with time but the level of luxury went down the rabbit hole.
I’m confused wether to get this or the new Grand Highlander. On one hand I like the v6 but the Toyota hybrid mpg is unbeatable. The question comes to 2.4 turbo vs v6, which one holds up in the Long term?
It all depends on how cheap or expensive gas is in your neck of the woods. Both are much better quality/long-term reliability than the KIA Boyz Korean junk.
If grand highlander fully loaded 2.5 L hybrid is 56 to 57K(which I expect it to be 56-57K price range), the fuel saving is gonna take long time before it makes up for the cost of the vehicle compared to 52K on the Pilot Elite.
4 cylinder Hybrid doesn't perform well on highway. There is not a big difference on highway mpg of v6 vs hybrid i4. If you going to ride in town buy hybrid. Hybrid get noisy on highway.
That Toyota 4cly turbo is going to be a high rpm engine and run hotter than Hondas naturally aspirated v6. Turbos are very expensive to replace, ask me how I know.
Only older models that still use a key instead of a push button start can be stolen easily. How is the dealership like a used car lot? Looks are subjective. It depends on the model but some of their products look great. Same with any brand.
a) older and base models that use a standard ignition key instead of push button start are the only ones that get stolen using that usb plug method. b) All my local dealerships, including Honda, have looked like used car lots because of inventory shortages for a long time now. Or just empty. c) at least they are trying to be original, pushing the envelope, and not be generic. Having said all that, I wouldn’t buy their products because of the bad stories I read about poor after sales service and lacklustre corporate response when things go really wrong 🫤
this black edtion cost 65k in Canada before tax. with that price you can get a MDX or a QX60, way more comfortable and better quality product. the rival offer highest trim under 60k like nissan pathfinder and hyundai palisade, with good 3rd row space, likely V6 and AT transmission, way nicer interior and better NVH. with quite enough carbin, wtf you need that carbin talk. on the lower trim lv, all the rivals offer more function less cost and lower interest. Honda just got surprisingly self-confidence to offer such less and charge such more. its not gonna be a game changer, its gonna be a doom for honda.

This - the space makes the difference
@@SamCarLegion Appreciate the feedback. Last question and my guess is a harder one…this black edition pilot or the Kia telluride x-line SX Prestige?
Might wanna wait for the 2023 toyota grand highlander if youre shopping for a brand new car
I was actually very disappointed with this Pilot after seeing it in person. I'd actually pick the Telluride over it, and looking forward to checking out the Grand Highlander once it hits the streets.
I felt the opposite. It felt more cramped and smaller, the steering was stiffer, the controls felt more intuitive. Honda provided more features for less. And then there’s the legendary Honda reliability compared to KIA’s. In the end, even my kids liked the Honda more.
Why does telluride have to be shut down, right? There's still a market for it, right?
Where's the info bro
Great Review!
I don't see the availability for the Black Edition in the U.S. Any insight on that?
Not in the USA
Grand Highlander is the king now imo!! Kia/Hyundai will be back next year with much longer wheelbase. Hopefully with 2.5t hybrid
You mean the 3rd Row Rav4. LOL! KIA is about to release their EV9 electric SUV!
The palisade and Telluride aren’t even that popular in Canada I see way more VW Atlas and Toyota Highlanders
It has nothing to do with popularity and everything to do with production numbers. Hyundai/Kia were producing significantly less and that has since been increased but still not to the level of VW and Toyota. The waiting lists and price gouging speak more to popularity than the sales numbers.
Been waiting for this review for the black edition canadian version...love this design for 2023 honda Pilot.Great family SUV...Nice review as well...
I dont understand how Honda put out a great next gen Pilot yet screwed up so badly on the next gen 2023 Accord 🤦♂️
Telluride all the way, baby. This Honda's back is like a bee's belly
I think the only area Pilot can beat Telluride is just the number of cup holders!
At 14:43 did he say with launch control?
Meaning launching it
is thi sblack edition available in the states? I haven't seen it
need more light when you are to show inside, thanks
How where you able to build the new redesign with black edition? What country are you from?
Canada
@@SamCarLegion damn lol. Do you have any clue if that black edition will hit united States?
No idea
I can't afford $4-$6 gallon gas + city driving! It's 2023 - why isn't this available as a hybrid?!
That's not a city car.
6:30 Sam getting out from 3rd ... didn't rip his pants ...you all ... must be beginners luck 🤣🤣 try it again lol
😜😜😜
Why isn’t Honda giving us a better warranty like KIA that makes the telluride a better buy 🎯💯
Not gonna pay $50k+ for cheap plastic interior. Honda and Toyota have always failed to deliver in terms of interior finish and quality. The prices of their vehicles went up with time but the level of luxury went down the rabbit hole.
No arm rest when you take the the middle section out.
Good point there
When is the US going to get the new Black Edition??
No idea
Chevy Traverse meets Jeep Cherokee
I’m confused wether to get this or the new Grand Highlander. On one hand I like the v6 but the Toyota hybrid mpg is unbeatable. The question comes to 2.4 turbo vs v6, which one holds up in the Long term?
Grand Highlander
I would not buy a kia / Hyundai a. They can be easily stolen b. Their dealership resemble a used car lot and c. Their styling seems to try too hard.
d. (Not sure if this still a thing)... 15k dealer market adjustment
@@KJ-ib4mh isn’t that every brand right now?
Only Kias or Hyundais from 2021 and before 2022 and 2023 models are exempt from this because they were built completely different
RIP Telluride may be a stretch!!!!
Kia sucks. So overrated.
Yeah, plenty of suckers still believe that Korean junk is good.
This new Pilot is the word "blah" in automotive shape.
mmm that engine actually is new if you do your research you'll see they redesigned it
Hi Sam, I've heard that the Pilot is quieter than the Telluride. Your thoughts?
Slightly
this black edtion cost 65k in Canada before tax. with that price you can get a MDX or a QX60, way more comfortable and better quality product. the rival offer highest trim under 60k like nissan pathfinder and hyundai palisade, with good 3rd row space, likely V6 and AT transmission, way nicer interior and better NVH. with quite enough carbin, wtf you need that carbin talk. on the lower trim lv, all the rivals offer more function less cost and lower interest. Honda just got surprisingly self-confidence to offer such less and charge such more. its not gonna be a game changer, its gonna be a doom for honda.
It reminds me of the earlier 2000's Honda Passport
If this pilot was the last gen then the new gen in 2023 would’ve been revolutionary… it’s not bad. It’s great but late to the party and more strain for buyers due to markups and shortages.
More concerned about Mark ups, as for availability, even if it takes 6 months, it will arrive and we all drive something so we can wait
Honda sensing safety feature is still far behind of hyundai kia’s Highway driving assist
For weekend trips - This or a used Lexus GX? Or LX for the same price?
This
@@SamCarLegion and why ? Those Lexus products have some seriously comfortable interiors.
RIP E-honda. I never seem any Pilot.
Still sticking with the Telluride or Pallisade
Why is everyone so obsessed with having a fricking big screen tv for a dash? I cant ignore the actual substance of a car in which honda DESTROYS kia in my opinion.
Good old v6. No hybrid options. This new car is already part of the past
If I were to buy a Pilot, I’ll probably wait for the refresh design.
I’m still happy with my FWD 2019 6spd Pilot, got the transmission cooler installed , S-VCM
Not happy with my 2014 Accord v6 and the starter issues tho
which daelership had the black edition available? i live by the area you drove by lol
This is from Honda Canada
@@SamCarLegion ok cool. I have one on pre order so waiting for official view of black edition since website has very few pictures 😂
@@SamCarLegion if you put black edition in the video title you'll get like x5 more views since your video is first look of this trim in the world 😂
