Sgb is pegged to gold prices...so yes...and best part is, if you wait for 8 yrs ie., til maturity...you don't have to pay taxes on the profit which is the amount of price increase of the bond...if you sell it before that maturity period (which in itself is difficult to do in india)...you'll have to pay taxes on the profit...

@@priya_95 there is something called soverign gold bond...baaically instead buying gold...you buy a gold bond in the range of 1g to 4kg...you buy and current price, government pays you back that amount 8 years later based on the current price then...so gold price now is 5200 and you buy 1 g, gold price 8 yrs later is 7k which you get from the gov...and this extra amt is not taxed at capital gains...you also get 2.5% interest every year...
On top of that no gst, making charges or wastage charges...so just google soverign gold bond...
