"Somebody's Out There" OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO TRIUMPH A NIGHT OF TRIUMPH METRO CENTRE ARENA - HALIFAX, NS January 6, 1987 Visit the new TRIUMPH Website: www.TriumphMusic.com
As of 2019 I do not believe Triumph is in the u.s. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame which is a shame because in 2019 they put in Janice Jackson but not Triumph the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a f****** joke you can fax check it but I'm pretty sure Triumph is not in there along with a lot of other great rock and roll bands that should be
Rush was more integrated into my life, for a very long time. But I loved Triumph too. I was just mesmerized with tunes like Xanadu. My wife's first concert was Triumph and she hates Rush.
I've always said the same thing! Rush are good but Triumph was so much better in my opinion and so underrated compared to Rush..Triumph is and always was my favorite Canadian band
There are moments in our lives that a song connected personally....but for me Triumph did this again and again over the years. Incredible talent, energy, messages that have and continue to weigh on my rock and roll soul. Thank youfrom my heart for this incredible ongoing journey....
Man takes you back...those faces in the crowd could have been any one of me and my friends. The guileless, innocent joy of youth. Wonderful how a song or video unlocks that door in your heart. God bless us all ❤
I wish these guys could put their differences aside and do a reunion tour these guys were so awesome they made such great music made millions of people feel Good with their music music I Wish they would come back
I hear you... Triumph literally kept my head afloat in dark times. But I saw an interview with Rik and I got to give him credit for honesty. He basically said he's too old and his voice simply wouldn't cut it. All these late 80's singers with the super high voices simply can't do that any more... mores the pity. But we have their music. And that will hopefully outlive all of us. Peace!!
@David Lake, don't forget Honeymoon Suite, Harlequin, April Wine, Chilliwack, Glass Tiger, Platinum Blond, Loverboy, Toronto, Cowboy Junkies, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, Five Man Electrical Band, Corey Hart, Lighhtouse, Gordon Lightfoot, Blood Sweat and Tears, Foot In Cold Water, Bruce Cockburn, Pat Travers, FM, Klaatu, Trooper, Prism, Goddo, Ian Thomas, The Kings, Streetheart, Offenbach, Sweeny Todd/Nick Gilder, Rough Trade, Teenage Head, Tom Cochrane/Red Rider, K D Lang, and yes Andy Kim, Gino Vanelli, Celine Dion and Anne Murray. So damn the 70/80's were good to us. I am sure I missed some like the one hit wonders Vehicle and Deja Vu etc.
That stage would still impress even today. Incredible. Saw them in Ottawa JAN 10, 1987 (Quiet Riot opened) Setlist: Tears in the Rain Somebody's Out There Allied Forces Lay It on the Line Midsummer's Daydream Follow Your Heart Drum Solo Take a Stand Magic Power Rock & Roll Machine Guitar Solo Spellbound Encore: Rocky Mountain Way (Joe Walsh cover) Fight the Good Fight
Triumph (the 1980's line---up or band mates or band members) is:The legendary Rick Emmett---lead vocals and lead guitar the incredible Mike Levine---bass guitar and the gifted Gil Moore---drums and percussion
This is the first Triumph song I ever heard in 1987 when i was in high school. And i became their fans ever since. Really glad to hear this song ini 2021 Thx for the video
They are different bands, guys. They always were. I doubt Bubbles will be filling on Rush's drums since Neil Peart died. It's been over 4 years now. Surely we would have heard. The whole of it is, the topic was old and tired 20 years ago. Do we carve band allegiance on our tombstones now?
Love this song Triumph - please come back Awesome band and great players all - listen to the albums and it takes me back, still sounds wonderful and thankful for their recordings What a natural guitar player Ric is Fantastic
I love Triumph, but saying they rocked harder than Rush is a bit of hyperbole. Rush kicked ass for over 40 years. Triumph managed 13 years before Rik left. Not quite the same thing.
Had to be closer to 50 years. I just checked an album of theirs I used when I needed to get away from "the fam" - 2112. It says 1976 and their 4th album on the site. I thought we lived in the same or adjacent boroughs in Toronto but didn't investigate.
What Rik Emmett was playing at the 3:02 mark. Really cool sounding lick. First time through: (first lick) Pick downward on the 17th fret of the high E string and pull off to the 14th fret. Then, pick upwards on the 15th fret of the B string. Repeat three more times. (second lick) Pick downward on the 17th fret of the high E string and pull off to the 12th fret. Then, pick upwards on the 14th fret of the B string. Repeat three more times. (third lick) Pick downward on the 15th fret of the high E string and pull off to the 12th fret. Then, pick upwards on the 13th fret of the B string. Repeat three more times. (fourth lick) Pick downward on the 15th fret of the high E string and pull off to the 10th fret. Then, pick upwards on the 12th fret of the B string. Repeat three more times. So... in summary, the E string notes descend down the neck from 17 to 14, 17 to 12, 15 to 12, and lastly 15 to 10. The B string notes descend down the neck from 15 to 14 to 13 and lastly to 12. Second time through: (first lick) Pick downward on the 17th fret of the high E string and pull off to the 14th fret. Then, pick upwards on the 15th fret of the B string. Repeat three more times. (second lick) Pick downward on the 21st fret of the high E string and pull off to the 17th fret. Then, pick upwards on the 17th fret of the B string. Repeat three more times. (third lick) Pick downward on the 20th fret of the high E string and pull off to the 15th fret. Then, pick upwards on the 17th fret of the B string. Repeat three more times. (fourth lick) Pick downward on the 19th fret of the high E string and pull off to the 15th fret. Then, pick upwards on the 15th fret of the B string. Repeat three more times.
Exc point. He absolutely DOES do that. After owning every studio and live album and having seen them countless times live, I can attest to that. I also don't care. Great performances live. Gil sometimes changes his octaves when he sings live; compared to studio tracks. Again, I couldn't care less. Gil is LOUD! The way TRIUMPH should be! And Rik...no need to describe Riks' vocals. His vocals themselves speak to his perfection as an alto.
Haha! You can tell the Rush fans from the Triumph fans. The Triumph fans who aren't Rush fans say Triumph are better and the Rush fans who are also Triumph fans know the real story. The longevity and accomplishments of both bands say it all. But I love Triumph as well. Sport of King's and Surveilance are brilliant albums!
Canada has some of the greatest talent in Rock.......Triumph are fantastic!! Awesome! Rush, my favorite all time band, incredibly talented, and matched by almost no other band! Rush is still making albums and selling out concerts everywhere they go!! Real staying power!! Sadly Triumph went their separate ways, and only Ric Emmett tours solo doing Triumph songs...not the same though without the original lineup. Rush, still together, still the top Canadian Rock Band ever!!!

Yes somewhat underrated, nevertheless a singer on par with Steve Perry, guitar playing on par with Neal Schon and songwriting on par with the best. God Bless Triumph !
Keyboard/guitarist is Rick Santers. Great! This song was the latest single so it had to be in the show. Almost didn't make it. Tony Wannamaker did the stedicam. He wore it longer than any camera person has ever worn a stedicam to this day. We didn't know the rules back then. Had to re-shoot audience shots in Detroit. I know 'cause i directed this. Interesting story. somewhere.
One of the most underrated and best bands from the 70’s/‘80s. Tight sound. Great music. Phenomenal live performances.
Agreed without a doubt.
Triumph needs to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame now! NOW!
They are inducted in both U S and Canadian hall of fame
As of 2019 I do not believe Triumph is in the u.s. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame which is a shame because in 2019 they put in Janice Jackson but not Triumph the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a f****** joke you can fax check it but I'm pretty sure Triumph is not in there along with a lot of other great rock and roll bands that should be
there already there dumb ass!!
Mark Luckenbaugh They’re in the Canadian Hall Of Fame I’m pretty sure, but not the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
agreed
Triumph's music always just makes ya feel better! Uplifting stuff.
Absolutely!
I like Rush, but they never hit home with me as much as Triumph did. Their music is interwoven into my adolescent years, never to be removed.
Me too. Love Rush, but they didnt quite speak to me like Triumph did.
Rush was more integrated into my life, for a very long time. But I loved Triumph too. I was just mesmerized with tunes like Xanadu. My wife's first concert was Triumph and she hates Rush.
Definitely!!!
Definitely!!!💞
I've always said the same thing! Rush are good but Triumph was so much better in my opinion and so underrated compared to Rush..Triumph is and always was my favorite Canadian band

I remember discovering Triumph in the late 80s. Soooooooooo good. Phenomenal riffs and fills and nothing but positive lyrics.
I've been a Triumph fan since Allied Forces. Rik is brilliant.
There are moments in our lives that a song connected personally....but for me Triumph did this again and again over the years. Incredible talent, energy, messages that have and continue to weigh on my rock and roll soul. Thank youfrom my heart for this incredible ongoing journey....

Record companies didnt help any!
Gotdamn. Hit those high notes live while playing the guitar. Standing ovation.
I remember the days when Triumph played in bars. I am such a fan of so many bands out of Canada. This is when rock music was very good.
If you get that time machine up and running, bring me to one of those bar gigs! :)
@David Lake, don't forget Honeymoon Suite, Harlequin, April Wine, Chilliwack, Glass Tiger, Platinum Blond, Loverboy, Toronto, Cowboy Junkies, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, Five Man Electrical Band, Corey Hart, Lighhtouse, Gordon Lightfoot, Blood Sweat and Tears, Foot In Cold Water, Bruce Cockburn, Pat Travers, FM, Klaatu, Trooper, Prism, Goddo, Ian Thomas, The Kings, Streetheart, Offenbach, Sweeny Todd/Nick Gilder, Rough Trade, Teenage Head, Tom Cochrane/Red Rider, K D Lang, and yes Andy Kim, Gino Vanelli, Celine Dion and Anne Murray. RUSH and TRIUMPH are on the same level
As much as I like Triumph, no...no they aren’t.

What a natural guitar player Ric is
Fantastic
What a great song! I think it's their BEST!
I love watching these old 1980's Rock videos where the girls mullet hairdo's rivals the boy's mullet hairdo's
Love those Canadian bands.
Triumph is a great talent 👍👍😛😛
Triumph is the best

I love Ric Emmett.❤🇨🇦
Moi aussi je l'adore. Coucou de France 🇨🇦🎸
One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands!
Halifax always a cool rock and roll city. Saw Pat Travers there at a club size venue May 1989.
Thank you guys.because. you guys never workout.and for that you got my respect.
I love RUSH but these guys rocked alot harder and were so underated. They always put 100% into there shows.
I love Triumph, but saying they rocked harder than Rush is a bit of hyperbole. Rush kicked ass for over 40 years. Triumph managed 13 years before Rik left. Not quite the same thing.

Frickin Ric can sing like an angel. What a great band
What Rik Emmett was playing at the 3:02 mark. Really cool sounding lick.

(first lick) Pick downward on the 17th fret of the high E string and pull off to the 14th fret. Then, pick upwards on the 15th fret of the B string. Repeat three more times.

Gotta love the man and his band
So much for the glorious three-part harmonies in the studio version... That said, this live version still put my arm hairs on end.
" I will somehow be somebody's someone....someday!!!
Milwaukee macca arena 1983 Great show
Such a pretty song. Love Triumph!
❤ Rik and the boys
Rock on Triumph is Awesome
A classic!
Huge triumph fan here. One thing I notice is Gil Moore's tempo speeds up and slows down in live performances, especially if he's singing.
Exc point. He absolutely DOES do that. After owning every studio and live album and having seen them countless times live, I can attest to that. I also don't care. Great performances live.
