True masters of trance like JayB never get enough attention and credit for this amazing talent. I wonder how many of top DJMag's DJs are actually capable of performing live...
Ryan Dunlap It's all subjective really. I personally place a lot of value on performance in music. If I made my own electronic music I would physically play all of the synths and either record acoustic drums and or play an electronic kit. I realize that's not very practical and a lot people aren't able to do that even if they wanted to, but I just don't see any reason why the production/making of/composition of electronic music should be different from any other genre where acoustic instruments are used, but to each his own. :-)
Ben Funk Exactly, it's subjective. I came up on synths/workstations/samplers in my teens and didn't actually make the switch to computers until '06-'07. What I mean is that so many people benefit from both, and I assume JayB can confirm that. It really comes down to what you're comfortable with. I mean I've seen some people doing unbelievable stuff insanely quickly in trackers. And in experimental genres, or if you're someone like me who swore off presets from the get-go, you spend years making mistakes and stumbling upon stuff until you hit a point where you can imagine a patch/track and know exactly how to create it, and even then most of the fun is discovery. And so much of that would be absolutely impossible without software. I produce IDM and in the last few years I've been getting back to hands-on stuff, only really for performance, but buying Push in 2013 to basically have an RGB Launchpad totally got me back into basing tracks off the feel of hand-playing; though I noticed immediately how much you miss out on those accidental syncopations or polyrhythms that occur when you're manually inputting notes. So again, blending both or just the bottom line that there's no right way is the point I'm trying to make, that's all.
+Ben Funk There's nothing wrong with using a DAW. It adds a layer of capability that can't be beat. My current rig consists of 4 workstation synths - by themselves, or MIDI'd together, they can do quite a bit, but connected to Sonar they can do *anything*.
It is very difficult to play anything live without lots and lots of practise. However, the complexities of trance make it even harder, as people have stated. You are absolutely amazing and so skilled. I love watching your videos in a genre that still has an amazing amount of followers! Keep going JayB!
Your tracks never cease to amaze me, because they're all on my phone so I can listen to them everywhere. Your trance dreamscapes are just so powerful and all-encompassing. Seriously, I love you. (In a mostly nonsexual way. Mostly.)
I have to say, this is the way, how trance music should be to created. Not only step sequnecers, but live music as well. This is really good peace of work.
Actually I don't have any idea. ;) The stand for my S80/UF7 is certainly a K&M and very similar to the 18950 model. The 3-synths stand is probably an early model of the Jaspers 3D / 3S series.

I indeed worked with two cameras. The editing happened in Final Cut Pro. It works like e.g. in Photoshop with several layers and you just resize one video and move it into the corner of the virtual canvas. The rest is manual synchronization.
JayB. you were born to play Synths. I think you are incredible. I bet you could turn a Casio VL tone into an Oberheim with your programming skills. Just love listening to you. I know what you look like now. Always thought you were black for some reason, doesn't really matter to me. We are all brothers I say. Well done. Great stuff. Greetings from Sheffield UK. A new huge fan, and confirmed Synth addict.
How come this video have so few views?! It should have at least a milion. I'm Instantly a subscriber. You got some really good skills man I Love it love it love it!!!
saugeil ! Beste Elektronische Musik kommt aus Deutschland. War schon immer so ! Ich hab damals schon deine erste und zweite Live Performannce in den Favoriten gehabt !
Awesome!! I Love It!! Great selection of boards. I had a Yamaha AN1x years ago, but I traded it in to upgrade my studio. It had great analog effects. I also have the rack mount version of the Korg X5D. I still have it today, even though I don't use it as much as I used to. My current setup consists of 7 Yamaha and Roland keyboards and modules. Again, awesome setup and song!
Oh would I love a download for this. Also while it may seem horribly cliche at this point, 2200 subscribers is nowhere near enough, considering your musical ability!
Still coming back to this masterpiece in 2023.
This guy is what the electronic music scene really needs. In fact, he is incredibly good at what he is doing, especially sound designing.
Still coming back to hear this classic even after you first put it up😊

Maybe less of ten… he s genious
JayB I don't think people realise just how hard it is to pull this off, good job my man!! :)
so damn hard ….
This is better than 95% of the trance tracks that have been released in the last 3 years and you're playing it live. You are amazing.
still so good after all this time!
Forget clicking in DAWs! This is the way you make electronic music!
Ben Funk Does it have to be one or the other??
Ryan Dunlap I prefer clicking. ;)

There is just something deeply satisfying about watching a man play 5 keyboards at once
A living and walking synthesiser 😱
The audio (and MIDI) routing happened in Logic Pro. That's where I also did the sidechaining and MIDI sync with both the Sirius and the QY100.
I never get tired to listen him play , exellent
Best way to build a studio. Place the synths around you so you can't get out and you have to play them! ^^
