My favourite insanity effect are the ‘false islands’ with the houses and their little glowing windows. Exactly what a stressed and frightened person may crave to see in the dark of night.
Nice fishing trip, Odd. You may want to go back and hunt for the other ending because it will help explain the questions you had at the end. Might not be enough for another video but is worth checking out for the closure. It is arguably a more satisfying ending than this one.
Agreed! If you want to learn more of the story... let's just say there are still some islands you have not explored yet. You don't need to complete any of the sidequests you've found to get the "good" ending
I loved watching you play this game, mostly because of how relaxed it is but also seeing you experience the mystery and discovery. It's always cool to see people trying to figure things out on their first go of a game that doesn't give everything away right away, though I get how it can be un-enjoyable if there are backseaters in the comments lol
I thought this series was rushed a bit which was sad as it was really enjoyable. It’s peaceful and relaxing to have on & gameplay is rewarding in about the same sense as getting panini stickers for the World Cup, that type of reward system. Plus it works well with your voice generally and self-deprecating humour when you crash. Saying that I think it’s now a one-and-done until the DLC comes out.
You are extremely close to the other ending. As a Lovecraftian themed game, this is one where I actually loved the endings because they made sense for one (lol). Personally, I love the game because of the Lovecraftian theme combined with the calming fishing side. The notes when you put them together make a *lot* of sense, even the one that seems like someone just threw words at the paper. The main character is grief filled and absolutely insane when you think about who he is, what he's done, and what he's willing to do to get his wife back regardless of the consequences that he knows will happen. The lighthouse keeper keeps alluding to this the whole game that you *know*, and he does but has split himself into two new personalities which you read. I won't give anything else out in case you play through the other ending, but if you do it does make things clearer if you reread the notes in order from oldest to newest and consider what people have told you, no matter how crazy it sounds.
So funny watching Odd play an insanity play-through by accident... I get that he doesn't just play one game to finish so things will be forgotten, but one of the first things you are told is to not fish at night and to go to sleep when you see the eye. It was also funny how he mixed up the enemies from the last 2 zones.
Thanks for playing the game, Odd! I always enjoy watching your stuff, even if seeing you never sleep gave me anxiety. To answer some of your questions... The not moving monster was the wormy guy in the twisted strand. It does work on the lava one too, but only if none of her babies are under you. You can use banish on them. Stress causes birds, tentacle, stuff crawling on your ship, weird red hurricanes, and fast shark. If you ever wanted to come back and complete all the tasks/catch all fish, I’ll happily watch.
You want to know why people watched this? It's got atmosphere, intrigue, and adventure. That's what keeps people glued to the screens. Also it evokes emotions, we watch people play games to "feed on their emotions", pardon the creepy way I said it. I've watched countless playthroughs of Alien Isolation and Soma (and some Amnesia Rebirth) for the emotions it evokes in the people playing them. Of couse, others might have other reasons for watching, but this were mi reasons, on top of the usual reasons of quality videos and good commentary.
This is the 3rd game I bought from watching your play-throughs and probably my fav indie game experience. Did not* expect a horror fishing game to be so immersive and even relaxing. While there's limited replay value, I imagine it'll still be great to dip back into the Dredge vibe now and then :)
Why I liked this series: It's pretty simple and straightforward, you get immersed into single player story based games so quickly and easily, you are easily the best content creator for being immersed in games. You really become the protagonist so easily, it's hilarious watching you say something and having the protagonist repeat it half a second later. It doesn't feel like watching a streamer, it just feel like watching the game because you get into it so well. Dredge isn't a hugely story based game, but the story that is there is really fun to see you puzzle your way through. Plus the game is just relaxing, its nice to see something that doesn't take me to the edge of my seat all the time lol. This was just a fun immersive gameplay series, and that's what I really enjoy about your channel.
In regards to what draws me in with your long series, it would have to be the fact that you engage with the game, the systems, and the story on a far more serious level than many Let's Players. I'll watch other channels if I feel the game is a good mesh for them to 'bounce off of' and be entertainers but if I'm truly interested in a game for its own sake, you're my go-to guy for the guided tour that lets the game shine rather than jumping in front with wacky youtuber hijinks. You take it slow, you fully engage, you think about what you're doing, you let the game show off its charms.
This series was awesome!! The ending legit creeped me out!! My favorite line was “not sure if this is the bad ending based on the vibes I’m getting here”. Well Jean Gray just came out of the ocean and a giant skull worm thing emerged from the depths of the ocean and the entire town is on fire. I’d be willing to bet it’s the bad ending haha 😅. Can’t wait to watch the next series! Cheers!
Thank you for playing dredge! I hadn't known about it before but i played it for three days straight after your first vid about it 😂 I really like these games because theyre story and lore driven, i got the good ending initially because im nosy and kept talking to everyone between quests haha And to be fair a game where you can play during the day and ignore the spooky night stuff if you want makes the game very friendly to people who are easily scared by horror games, but you can still get the spooky nature of the story I think a lot of people are also drawn to series that have a world you want to learn more about, like what do the other towns out there look like? you see ruins of the old towns and want to know more but the game only gives you snippets of what happened! And stuff like the cloaked figures, the corrupted fish deliveries and the researcher give you just enough to want to know more about the world as well
Thanks for the playthrough Chris! I think it's a great idea to revisit when the DLC comes out, and maybe try to get the other ending too at that time. I always enjoy watching you work stuff out, and this game is such a great vessel for that. But let's be honest, I obviously primarily tuned in for your mad boat piloting skills!
What I've really liked was: the story, the mechanics and of course your personnality. That game got me intrigued everytime. The progression was really well made and the puzzles was a nice addition. Thank you for playing.
The best playthroughs are the ones you are super into believe it or not. The mood is infectious, and if you're not enjoying the game, it doesn't matter what it is. And vice versa.
Despite the "spooky" aspects, there's something cozy about it. Like a nice fall day with a decent breeze and you have to break out a sweater for the first time.
I love the story structure of this game, and frankly your free-form way of approaching it, no spoilers or reading ahead, just digging through it like I would/am. I purchased this game based on the beginning of your play-through (episodes 1-4), and have enjoyed doing things you did not do as well as the content you showed. I have been watching your episodes after I finish those sections of the game and I love to see the differences in how we approach things.I just finished it, got a different ending, loved seeing your different ending. As always your presentation is awesome and I look forward to the DLC run as well!
Thank you for the playthough, Odd! I feel it was a bit rushed unfortunately. You are my favourite youtuber because of how thorough you usually are. Still loved it and your personality so much! Thank you!
I think most of your viewers have the same core interests (XCOM, strategy, turn based, etc) but we like watching you play some of these because we vicariously get to play them through you.
I think I enjoyed watching this series because of the pacing - it’s sometimes unpredictable but always relaxing :) The sound design was also excellent, everything was balanced towards immersion so I eventually got ‘hooked’ ^_^
It was a fun series, but I feel like because of the other games you were not able to dive into the story and the lore of the game, which personally is a shame; I was really looking forward to that. I hope when the DLC comes you can maybe start fresh and do all the story/side stuff. Thanks :)
I'm glad you finished this game Odd. I think I enjoyed it because it was relaxed and mysterious, and didn't require huge brains or twitch reflexes to play and comprehend. It wasn't loud or in your face (not that that's a bad thing since I'm also watching Showgunners) and was just a nice chill game. It kinda reminds me of dayz playthroughs if that makes sense. Also, and I mean this with the utmost respect, I love the fact that you finished the game without figuring out that panic was the eye thingy, and the more open it was the more bad things happened, like the monsters and the crows.
Sorry for the comment spam but you did ask at the end for why we liked you watching this game... from the perspective of someone who has fully completed the game (all achievements, all side quests, caught every single fish and their variants). For me,. it's the joy of someone figuring out what is going on story wise and sharing in the joy of your "aha" moments (even though you played the whole game without figuring out the sanity meter - which drove me nuts!). It's also interesting to see how you handled your boat upgrades... but the most entertaining thing of all.... the sheer amount of hull damage you took!!! Though to be fair, in mangrove and devils I crashed my damn boat ALL THE TIME. This game also proves you don't need to be a AAA studio with amazing ray traced graphics to make a great game. This has a nice cosy gameplay, a very pleasing art style and a story that unwinds in a way that keeps you interested. It's a joy to play and even more of a joy to watch someone else discover that joy.
Thank you Mr Odd. Another great series. Few people play a good story game nearly as well as you. Also, why I loved this series. I played this through, loved it. It was really cool seeing you experience it for the first time. Since the game was (or at least this ending) was so short, it was the right size to do twice, without having to "do" it myself the second time. Also I love your reactions to the mysterious things. And of course the story. I played Subnautica similarly, although I saw you start, played it myself, then watched you finish it. Very enjoyable. Also great to have on background while I work. Thanks again Mr Odd. I am going to edit this once again. In a game that is similar to this, that has that "first time you play it, hits so hard" type of game: If you haven't played Journey yet, do it on video. Its not super long, probably just one video. Anyone who has played it, and watches you, will love it. Amazing game. IMO.
Hi Odd! I've been watching your videos since Machine for Pigs, and I have to say, I really, really enjoyed watching this series! You asked us to tell you what you liked in so few words, so to answer you: I loved how it was on theme for your channel, but it was a different vibe from a lot of the normal games of the same theme. It was a short series (which I really enjoy yous long plays too!) So it was easy to keep up with and binge. And the game itself was very simple to understand, the story was SUPER good, I really loved all the encounters and felt the same way you did every time you caught a new fish! Thank you for finishing this game. Even with it being the "bad" ending, it was very cool and also gave the story closure. More indie horror games like this while doing AAA games really helps switch it up. Love your channel!
My wife asked me how I could watch this kind of video back when the first one came out. The only response I could think to give was it "romantisised melancholic solitude." I've really been enjoying ShowGunners and Tape to Tape, but I always looked forward to the next episode of Dredge and I've got to say that I'm sad it's over, but I'm glad I was here for it.
It was an interesting game. Chill, no combat etc but some interesting stuff in the background. Just a nice change of pace from the turn based or other just combat stuff.
Good art, good music, cozy but very spooky, and you were enjoying playing it. Games that are a fun premise with a eerie background really appeal to me. Thank you for playing!
It was a great, relaxing mystery to watch. I loved the art and the feel of it all. Also, I took a shot every time you crashed your boat. Thanks for the buzz.
I just simply love your commentary while playing the game, and also seeing you play diverse games. There are some youtubers I love but they are stuck in one game and are never discovering new games.
I loved the art style, and the way you might almost mistake it for a comfy fishing game in the initial stages, if you had no prior information. I also have a soft spot for Lovecraftian cosmic horror, still a little bummed we never saw the end of the Sinking City back in the day, so anything you play with that kind of bent will hold my interest. Love your work mate, loads of great stuff in the last few weeks, just have to find time to get caught up on everything. Look after yourself.
That's the coolest part of this game, that the hints are subtle. He's aboard but you can't see him in the hold... because you *are* him. Whenever you talk with the collector, in retrospect it's obvious that he's actually a figure in a mirror but most of us wouldn't spot that until afterwards, going back and looking for it. So well done.
yay finally Odd! thank you ❤ Edit: the letters you found in the bottles explained the story and timeline a bit more. And why I love this series is because I love the game (completed it before starting watching your playthrough). Also it's such a chill game to watch. The viewing experience is exactly the same like the playing experience. it's nice to just watch you fish, dredge, find new things, crash and go insane :)
Thanx for this series, bud! An open world adventure, with smooth and clean graphics, and an epic story that slowly builds to scratch the "completionist itch"? Yes, please ^^
Few words to encapsulate: I like the thalassophobia (fear of deep water), I like lovecraftian horror. I like the mundane veneer of it being about a lil fishing boat.
I hope you can revisit the game some day and get the second ending. This may give some more insight as to what's going on. As for the ending. I'll try not to spoil anything, but I'll say that to get it you have to talk to the lighthouse lady at certain point.
This was such a fun game! Thanks so much for playing it for us. And id love to see the other endings and you finnishing off the other quests you had if you feel like it!
Thanks for this play through! I enjoy watching them, but don't often play myself (my muscle memory for game controller buttons is a little more NES speed - and I also struggle with video game induced motion sickness). I liked this one so much that I stopped watching in the middle to play it through myself on Switch. Nice mix of story and chill gameplay (mostly - screw you Gale Cliffs).
Congrats you just doomed the world. Don't feel bad, we all do it. You can play the other ending simply by not giving the watch to the Collector and going to the Lighthouse Keeper instead. A quick ending from where you are. Must admit you are the first person I've seen to choose both the bad ending first and not realise who the Collector really was or whose wife she really was. The first DLC is now available and it certainly helps finding and remembering various locations. Thanks I hadn't seen the ending with the collector accompanying you.
I only started watching your channel last year but I just wanted to say thank you for the play thought content you do I love it. And I love games but don't always want to sit down and play so it is nice to just watch someone else. But thank you for this series it was great 😁
So, I personally watch pretty much every playthrough from you, so no specific reason I watched this. I played the game myself when it launched and it was just a cool chill game (most times). I had hoped for more story, but cant have everything. I personally would love for you to do some real story heavy indie game again, thats how I landed here back in the day, but unfortunately you seem to enjoy these little games like Vampire Survivor, Domekeeper etc. much more right now. There is nothing wrong with these games or your playthroughs of them, but I would love to set the vibe again (RE4, Jedi Survivor etc. dont count there).
Just finished the game today before watching this. If we have learned one thing from Odd's driving of the boat, it is to *never* ride with him if he is behind the wheel of a car. 🤣🤣🤣
The end! What an amazing game, I do wonder if you didn't work with the collector at all if you would get a better ending, poor island guys are doomed. The last scene with the cthulu dude rising out of the depths was awesome!
Well, the attraction of this game is of the same root as that of games like, e.g., 'The Darkest Dungeon'. Some kind of mystical post-apocalyptic world / community as a setting. Lovecraftian-mythos streak which manifests itself fairly early in the game. Music and sound which can make or break that sort of a game - and in this game sound and music are excellent in quality and cleverly designed. Also, the 'mundaneness' of the horror / mystique, also, the mythos of 20s-30s era (same as in Indiana Jones series). That said, could somebody explain or point me to the place in play-through, is there a resolution or explanation for the Mayor/dockyard worker storyline? Also, can you meet Leviathan in-game? And what happens if you go into the fog?
Well, I do not know how TH-camrs work, but I would definitely prefer dedicated playthroughs of fewer games to playthroughs that spread across different games.
Ah man I was hoping for a way better ending, it just feels so abrupt and included absolutely zero elements (dredging/fishing/inventory management) from the game. That said, you did so well and kept the entire series super compelling. Also a BIG HINT who the "collector" is at 50:23 Thanks Odd!
Hmm as far as I could tell just from your videos, i did suspect some kind of timeline weirdness, especially with interactions with the Collector. There are some definite "its all in your head" vibes throughout the way that people interact with you and the things you come across, so I can see how one might be able to put it all together with a few more hints from sidequests that you didnt go through. I'm not sure there's much value in doing it again on yiour channel. It was fun to watch but there isn't enough left for another playthrough to be entertaining to watch.
Great vid, thank Mr. Odd :) Spoilers ... ... You are right in both account as the woman at the end is both the collector's and your character's wife. When you do the other ending, you discover that the collector is your character. If you look closely when you go visit him, you will see that he stands not in a doorway but in a mirror frame ;)
I mean, I've watched this to completion on a couple of other channels already, so there's really only one reason why I'm watching it again on your channel, y'know? I like how you react to and explore these sorts of atmospheric games. But I kinda got the vibe you weren't really enjoying this game so much. I dunno.
My favourite insanity effect are the ‘false islands’ with the houses and their little glowing windows. Exactly what a stressed and frightened person may crave to see in the dark of night.
Upgrades hull
"Do I now have a space for my light?"
He clearly does
"No."
Nice fishing trip, Odd. You may want to go back and hunt for the other ending because it will help explain the questions you had at the end. Might not be enough for another video but is worth checking out for the closure. It is arguably a more satisfying ending than this one.
I have played through both endings, I would still watch Odd play the other ending.
Agreed! If you want to learn more of the story... let's just say there are still some islands you have not explored yet. You don't need to complete any of the sidequests you've found to get the "good" ending
Spoil the ending here for the rest of us
@@datmomoagain8963 find videos about "dredge explained" if you want it spoiled. They have both endings.
I loved watching you play this game, mostly because of how relaxed it is but also seeing you experience the mystery and discovery. 35:00 the crows... the random tentacles appearing out the water... the red swirly mist.,... the random rocks.... the boat-fish.....
I thought this series was rushed a bit which was sad as it was really enjoyable.

It was a great, relaxing mystery to watch. I loved the art and the feel of it all. Also, I took a shot every time you crashed your boat. Thanks for the buzz.
Shame it is over. Thanks for having played this!
Great series, hope you come back to it when the DLC is out
I just simply love your commentary while playing the game, and also seeing you play diverse games.
I loved this series. The story was good, the mechanics were new with every new island chain, and the upgrades were attainable and didnt take grinding.
Youre confused? You unleashed Cthulhu is what you did! Bravo... Classic Odd...

"He's aboard our vessel... I don't see him"
Man, if only you knew the truth in that statement... Shame you didn't go for the good ending.
So well done.
yay finally Odd! thank you ❤
Edit: the letters you found in the bottles explained the story and timeline a bit more. And why I love this series is because I love the game (completed it before starting watching your playthrough). Also it's such a chill game to watch. The viewing experience is exactly the same like the playing experience. it's nice to just watch you fish, dredge, find new things, crash and go insane :)
pro tip - Atrophy ability will ALWAYS get you at least 1 purple fish - so you can drop bait and atrophy to 100% guarantee purple fish
Thanx for this series, bud! An open world adventure, with smooth and clean graphics, and an epic story that slowly builds to scratch the "completionist itch"? Yes, please ^^
Well, in simple terms you just realeased the Eldritch hoorors upon the world. So basically everyone's dead Jim.
Def would love one last ep of this with more sleep 😂 the eye causes bad stuff like birds
This was great to watch because it was easy going and truly something new and different. Kind of sad it’s over. Can’t wait for the DLC.
Yay, I am happy for you. Thoroughly enjoyed this playthrough.
This was such a fun game! Thanks so much for playing it for us. And id love to see the other endings and you finnishing off the other quests you had if you feel like it!
Love this one. So different than the others you have going. Thanks for the post even if they aren’t consistent. All good!
Soulslike fishing game, chill if you know what you are doing and oddly satisfying inventory if ur good at tetris stuff 😂
Hmm. I generally love to see the story unveil and how you react to the story. I want most of the stuff that way
The game had good storytelling and interesting puzzles and monsters, all on top of the fact its a Fishing Game!
"I won't spoil you the good ending, though."
*immediately proceeds to spoil the good ending*
I only started watching your channel last year but I just wanted to say thank you for the play thought content you do I love it. And I love games but don't always want to sit down and play so it is nice to just watch someone else. But thank you for this series it was great 😁
i'd love to see you finish up the game :3
Holds on to a "lucky ring" from a guy who was cast away, your hilarious Odd 😂
Was wondering when's the next Dredge video and here it is - right after work. Thanks!
Odd: "I won't spoil what the good ending is..." (then proceeded to spoil The Collector twist in the good ending.)
This ending doesn't make much sense without discovering "the truth about the collector".
Could you give it a try and play other endings as well?
Finally! I enjoyed this series would of been nice to see you try and find the rare fish I have no idea how hard that is though. Cheers
The end! What an amazing game, I do wonder if you didn't work with the collector at all if you would get a better ending, poor island guys are doomed. The last scene with the cthulu dude rising out of the depths was awesome!
Yes, odd, play again and deliberately do everything, this time let us help. It’s you, by the way, making it fun to watch.
What a happy little lunch time surprise!
Famous Chris Odd sayings: "FRICK!!"
I hope your wife does the driving irl! It's so fun to watch you bashing into things while you are trying to fish
Well, I do not know how TH-camrs work, but I would definitely prefer dedicated playthroughs of fewer games to playthroughs that spread across different games.
I think the birds scatter away if you blow the horn.
I did different ending and you would be surprised on the other ending. Spoil alert!!!!!! the fisherman IS the collector!!! So fricken cool man.
You definitely missed a few answers along the way. Hope you will come back to it.
I prefer to think of it as a crab maw. They’re very cute 🥰
Odd seems to hate hitting Reverse Gear and likes crashing to everything.
50:41 You mean you never installed your big light.
Ah man I was hoping for a way better ending, it just feels so abrupt and included absolutely zero elements (dredging/fishing/inventory management) from the game. That said, you did so well and kept the entire series super compelling. Also a BIG HINT who the "collector" is at 50:23 Thanks Odd!
amazing gameplay 👏🏻
Hmm as far as I could tell just from your videos, i did suspect some kind of timeline weirdness, especially with interactions with the Collector. There are some definite "its all in your head" vibes throughout the way that people interact with you and the things you come across, so I can see how one might be able to put it all together with a few more hints from sidequests that you didnt go through.
I'm not sure there's much value in doing it again on yiour channel. It was fun to watch but there isn't enough left for another playthrough to be entertaining to watch.
Great video
I enjoyed it because it's simply not a style of game i play but like watching others play
What's that hull made of, papier maché?
...Task failed successfuly.
Great vid, thank Mr. Odd :)

You are right in both account as the woman at the end is both the collector's and your character's wife. When you do the other ending, you discover that the collector is your character. If you look closely when you go visit him, you will see that he stands not in a doorway but in a mirror frame ;)
i got a different ending. instead of going with the collector, go talk to the lighthouse keeper.
Damn! But wait?
(exactly my reaction at that ending)
you desstroyed the world
I mean, I've watched this to completion on a couple of other channels already, so there's really only one reason why I'm watching it again on your channel, y'know? I like how you react to and explore these sorts of atmospheric games. But I kinda got the vibe you weren't really enjoying this game so much. I dunno.
No offense but... did he miss the monster :O
Did Odd not see the giant monster?!?!
2:21 Looks like lumber...
5:20 ...
Dope game, cool ending though
Too bad Dredge is done.
They have a DLC coming.
