When you’re facing wall-crawling enemies, don’t hesitate to retreat with your mech spider to give yourself more time. That's probably what the descend speed upgrade is for.
Played a demo of this a while back, the rotated mine seemed like a interesting concept. One strategy I found was to focus on mining upwards and letting resources fall to the bottom to make it easier to get them back to the spider. Based on this video and the demo I played, I prefer Dome Keeper. Something about the graphic style doesn't quite sit right with me on this one, we'll see though. Looking forward to seeing more.
I'll have to just watch you play this, Odd. I don't dig any kind of games that have a timer. I don't need that stress in my life :) but it's fun to watch you.
Please play more if able to, Re 11:43 Why dash down wall, well your entire base moves! Incoming enemies? Just spray the direction their in and slowly reverse. If bullets coming at you.. move!
Oh, nice, was curious about this one as well as Boneraiser Minions, which I did end up buying after your video, hope you end up tackling it, it's REALLY addictive and has more maps and systems than I expected. This actually seems way more involved than Dome Keeper, the carrot of lore and between run advancement might be the little hook I'd need to get me into this.
Hoping someone else saw it and commented. I'm curious if breakable walls flanked by unbreakable walls like that always lead to rooms, or if there are red herring type situations.
I can't believe two different developers were working on wave defense mining roguelikes at the same time! Nobody saw this genre coming, and now we have two of them at once?!
This game looks really interesting. I like the possibility of finding lore around. Also like how there seem to be cities on the backl ground, it all gets me thinking and a little more inmersed. Maybe that last wave activates because of the "territory" you get in. I mean, it looked like it was taking way too much time to find another mine, so maybe there wasn't any because you reached a sort of end. It might be the acces to a harder "level". That also gets me thinking of the idea of going down, you might find other mines in lower sections, without triggering that "final wave".
Damn, this must have been towards the end of development when Dome Keeper got released. Can't imagine the devs on this were thrilled to see another game that similar so close to their finish line. But hopefully the popularity of DK also benefits these guys due to the similarity. Really cool game!
@@tarao666 It's not. There's no way a team could build a game this polished from when dome keeper was released. If DK was released 2 years ago, that would've still been unlikely, but at least plausible.
@@Ermude10 So, your theory is that 2 teams 100% unrelated made essentially the same game 6 months apart... I'm no expert programmer, but I'm pretty sure a team of 10 people can make a game like this in less than 6 months. That or some kind of espionage/ex-employee thing, because I'm not buying the "coincidence" theory. The core of the game is EXACTLY the same.
@@tarao666 Yes, that seems unplausible given the, ahem, similarities. It's possible though that they were developing a game somewhat similar in concept, and after seeing the success of Dome Keeper made a few, ahem, minor adjustments.
@Ermude10 Funny you should say that, because "it kinda was" released 2 years ago--as Dome Romantic (but with a K, cuz TH-cam doesn't let me?) , a 72-hour game jam predecessor. (Odd has this version tagged on his Dome Keeper vids.) You can still find and play it within your browser over at the dev's homepage.

I'm thinking that the big wave is based on your height. What I noticed is that while the timers are different for the two runs, the presence of clouds and the considerable altitude is similar
the game is really nice but I think they made the "endgame" mines for digging a bit too hard ... the upgrades are difficult to get and it's a bit hard but awesome game!
it kinda feels like you should mine the whole area for meta currency, but then would that make the game too easy or go by too fast, i guess it's up to the player in the end if that makes sense
I have a bad taste in my mouth with this game - cosidering how much it appears they have taken from dome keeper then underpriced it by 1/3 feels very slimey. I would be interested in how the Dome Keeper Devs feel though. Either way, I don't know if I wanna support it - I'll check out the other videos though Odd, Love ya
I would think the Dome Keeper devs are happy to inspire more games like it. It's not a copy. It has it's own thing going on. If you're bothered by this let me know some of your favourite games and I'll tell you which one's they've copied.
I mean, I do agree that game developers really deserve more money and shouldn't undervalue their work, just like any other artists. I know this wasn't really your point, but games are inspired by one another all the time, just like all art and media, and not to spoil anything, but there are many differences. As a species, we discover and we iterate and reiterate on ideas. I love both games so much, though. I admit to this.

Correct. Moving on the wall is a very valid tactic during attacks.

I think the only direction missing now is diagonal

In the first respawn the first mine u missed that secret room. That drives me crazy. What was it 😂

i think both of the final wave was trigger after you went too high up after the cloud..
Oh you think? Is there an indicator somewhere? I should spend way more time mining the sections out then.
I think the descending dash is a defensive maneuver, kinda kite the enemies back.
More please! :) Great video as always.
Even in pixel art they have jiggle physics

I haven't tried it, but I wonder if the moving the robospider down three blocks is for dodging incoming fire, rather than moving to another area.
