I've never seen this movie, but this didn't make sense. If the boy owned everything then killing him wouldn't matter since the property would go to the grandmother and if Katherine owned everything then she can do what she likes. Historically, "natural" children had no right to inherit anything, unless the husband had a will and specifically gave the house, money etc to the child. The house may or may not even go to Katherine. I assume that Katherine owned the house given the ending, so if the kid was causing issues then Katherine could just kick them out, or at the very least keep living with the guy and tell the grandmother to suck it if she complained. She's already living in a scandalous situation. To find out her dead husband had a child before they were married wouldn't make the situation more scandalous.
That part got me too because the boy would've been considered a bastard and until he matured/or proof provided, Catherine would've been the lady of the house. She could've sent the grandmother away.
This is a retelling of Leskov’s 1865 short story “Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District.” The story is perhaps best known as it is retold in Shostakovich’s 1932 opera by the same name. I have to say, it’s somewhat surprising to see such a quintessentially Russian work set in 19th century England.
The movie teaches us a lesson that is understand the value of the people around you, otherwise you would be lonely through out your life like katherine.

I loved that they had someone like Sebastian and Ann to contrast Katherine's psychopathic nature (i believe sociopathic may be more accurate) Anna was devastated from Boris' murder despite his terrible treatment of her but this is a murder where we feel is justified. Same goes for the husband. And It wasn't until they killed Teddy that things went too TOO far. Sebastian's breakdown was definitely what cemented that. Since the whole movie went on with Katherine getting away with these murders because both Boris and his son were terrible people, we've grown somewhat used to it. Though Teddy's murder was a shock, it was Sebastian's crying for me that made me realize the lack of humanity Katherine had for her own goals.
The fact that when a person does something wrong n u r just tend to be a witness and just because they assume that you r a threat Can actually destroy your life is crazyyy!! That's the sole reason why none cares to indulge in anyone's buisness cause they have to live their whole life in fear. Also the fact that the death of an animal makes people's heart ache than a child says a lot bout people's mentality and how much they value a human's life. Cruel world- then and now!
The killing of Boris and Alexander felt like women can fight back in a so called dominated world, the horse and kid was just utterly unnecessary, she twisted Sebastian’s mind and you could tell the trauma she caused him I will admit Alexander not touching her is kind of a relief because then no rape is involved in this movie

So glad I watched this sparknotes style version than wasting the full length of the film being disappointed by the story plot.
To leave the entire world behind for someone it’s not the right thing for a person
Why does this guy care about what Katherine does? he doesn't care about her.
Power and control
I couldn't even push myself to finish the movie. I know the acting is really good, but it was a struggle after seeing Teddy getting suffocated to continue. Also, just seeing Anna get walked all over pissed me off.
I only feel bad that she blamed Anna. Sebastian is the least she did what needed to be done to protect herself! She killed the child because of her love for him and he betrayed her by confessing! She saw a way out and took it 👩🏾🦯. Idc what anyone else has to say otherwise
So you don’t feel bad about her killing the innocent child? He “betrayed” her by confessing because he felt guilty about killing a KID…..that’s what any sane human person would feel if they did something like that what was they supposed to do kill innocent people and live their life happily ever after lmao
@@shaylashay8903 What I do know is that people do a lot of bad things because of love! She killed the child because of it! Yeah he felt guilt but he’s the one that pushed her to do it(he might not have MADE HER) but his words did! So like I said! She saw her way out of going to jail and she took it!
@@kelenadavis2490 oh please only people with mental illness can justify killing or doing other horrible stuff in the name of love. She did it because she's evil and crazy, that's it.
@@KikiKiki-eq2wg sounds like a YOU opinion 🤷🏾♀️. And I said what I said sooo
@@kelenadavis2490 Just shut up you sound stupi9 🤦🏽♀️
Although what she did was terrible, you gotta admire Catherine for how smartly she handles situations with her fast thinking
I mean she put herself into those situations so it's kinda on her to think of her own escape plans.
I don’t understand, she falls in love with a man who played a part on sexually assaulting Anna?
Dammit I did not realise this was Florence Pugh. I love this movie and I could not shut up about it when I watched it. Man this girl has talent.
very interesting. good story. could b very disturbing to some people. mentally disturbing also. but I found it a very good and interesting story. very moving very touching. damn good story. im glad for this day and age.
Sorry, I don’t like her. Like I get she was treated like shit, but she really became a murderer.
When are we going to accept that childhood trauma creates psychopaths, and start being more careful with the way we raise our children? Almost every known murderer we know about had a traumatic childhood...
@@bellebonebag8096 trauma isn’t a good enough excuse for murder. she literally took the lives of multiple people… one of them being a child. she should know way better
@@ivywt If someone raises their child in the mafia, murdering people for a living, can you blame them for thinking it's fine to do those things? I mean, she already thinks r4pe is normal. Her "husband" never bothered to ask for consent from her. And her own father raised her to be a babymaker. So why is murder so bad?? Is murder worse than r4pe?
Her childhood was fcked up. Therefore, she is fcked up. It's simple.
@@bellebonebag8096 but we’re not talking about the mafia. we’re talking about catherine and her shitty actions. yes, what she went through was horrible, but taking it out on other people isn’t going to solve her problems. if anything she’ll just create more of them which is something she doesn’t want
I don't know what sebastian's and Katherine's game plan is though, honestly. Any guest they would have in that house would question sebastian's appearance because everyone knows who the master of the house really looks like...
She's is the definition of Selfishness
She.. or the society back then? Think about the f***** up live she had to live. I think she just went crazy
EXACTLY! Very selfish!
Florence is rocking every lead role she's in,
The justice system in todays society is not the best, but it is FAR BETTER than in those days. I agree that living in the 21st century is far better than living in those days
It's like some dark Wattpad story.
O Hell Macbeth who shall be king… don’t you all know the story? It’s written by Shakespeare and it’s called Macbeth. I like the way this movie used the story in a different setting!
I was thinking this very thing - after all, it's based on Macbeth and Lady Macbeth was ruthless.
I think this movie is based on a Russian novel, not the play
@@fulichak6499 which Novel?
I wonder who will inherit all the money and assets of this family at that period of time (Victorian era?), the widow or a male closest relative of her late husband?
This story dipicts the story of Macbeht and its themes in a more modern day approach.
Welp! What did she expect?? You do and things to get what you want. It will catch up to you! Theres no rest for the wicked. I mean.... I know during that time, it's not easy for girls and women. And I don't blame her getting rid of her father in law and husband. All the rest was wrong. She should've stopped there
So you're justifying murder?
Jeez justifying murder now we, they didn't even physically harmed her.
@@Keniz99 actually, they did physically harm her
@@Keniz99 why not go get fresh air and stop being mad for misogynists instead? Slap is considered physical harm, wether it be man or woman.
@@shubhmishra66 Yes, murder is justified in some cases. Even the courts justify murder. You see, theres this thing called the "death sentence". When someone commits a despicable, selfish crime, and the prison doesnt want to waste valuable tax money feeding and bathing them, murder is the ideal option.
She said gotta save myself smh
Isn't she the same actress who acted in the Black Widow movie as Natasha Romanoff's sister?
Wait..she kills the horse..not cool😢
Was it cool when she killed a human child?
I laughed when she fell over shooting it
@MoKa no it was horrifying..that girl psycho!!!
What about people she killed?
@@mo.ka.9661 no, of course not. Did anyone say that? Do we have to list everything that is possibly worse first?
This girl is cruel and weird at the same time
Anne and the little boy are the only ones I feel sorry for in all these😢
I've never seen this movie, but this didn't make sense.
@@ellie_sarabellum I just watched the movie. The boy had papers to prove he was the legitimate heir.
That poor innocent horse 😭
This is a retelling of Leskov’s 1865 short story “Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District.” The story is perhaps best known as it is retold in Shostakovich’s 1932 opera by the same name.
I have to say, it’s somewhat surprising to see such a quintessentially Russian work set in 19th century England.
It's an amazing movie I really liked it
The saddest part of that story is that way too many more often than not become the villain of their own story.
In more ways than one.
All the sadness for a horse, but not a small boy.... I wonder why.
The little boy is black, that's why.
The movie teaches us a lesson that is understand the value of the people around you, otherwise you would be lonely through out your life like katherine.
Holy shit
Sooo listen
In our school if we pay 2 dollars we can get a 1 book everyday called Kinnari kids
3 years later
I put my phone to charge and I decided to open it

I loved that they had someone like Sebastian and Ann to contrast Katherine's psychopathic nature (i believe sociopathic may be more accurate)
Anna was devastated from Boris' murder despite his terrible treatment of her but this is a murder where we feel is justified.
Though Teddy's murder was a shock, it was Sebastian's crying for me that made me realize the lack of humanity Katherine had for her own goals.
lust or love. she kill for that reason
Poor horse lmaoo like what was he gonna do TELL PPL?
This wasn't love but lust
The fact that when a person does something wrong n u r just tend to be a witness and just because they assume that you r a threat Can actually destroy your life is crazyyy!! That's the sole reason why none cares to indulge in anyone's buisness cause they have to live their whole life in fear.
Also the fact that the death of an animal makes people's heart ache than a child says a lot bout people's mentality and how much they value a human's life. Cruel world- then and now!
Abortion has caused people to be desensitized to babies dying, sadly.
There is nothing scarier in the world than an unloved woman😔
Or person in general
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
This is a sick story to its very core... I doubt that the director of this movie is unwell....
That pure baby inside of Katherine will also meet a gruesome end

I watched the movie without watching the movie 😂😂 Just kidding, this looks good, right up my alley. Have to watch the movie now ❤️ Thanks for sharing
Sebastian got what he deserved. Felt sorry for anna
Seems like Indian news paper reading session 😅
The killing of Boris and Alexander felt like women can fight back in a so called dominated world, the horse and kid was just utterly unnecessary, she twisted Sebastian’s mind and you could tell the trauma she caused him
I will admit Alexander not touching her is kind of a relief because then no rape is involved in this movie
Before she reincarnated as Black Widow's sister
Ive saved hours just by watching this channel!❤️
Lol. Me too
This shows real dystopia world
I like the movie and the interesting ideas it had. The commitment to the bad or "bittersweet" ending is another choice I very much enjoy as well.
I hate both of them, vile and evil killers that slaughtered an innocent child and animal to get their way.
I don't like the concept of the movie
The girl who kills 3 people shouldn't be able to freely live in wealth
I’m sure it’s happened plenty before irl.
People kill and live wealthy all the time, it isn’t too common but it isn’t a surprise
She shot the horse that beyond evil
I think you mess by calling her a poor girl!
Where can I watch the movie please I have searched TH-cam,HiTV, Viki and even Google
Will, this was the best 8 - minute movie I've ever seen... Catherine was the true devil 😮. She should have just let Sebastian stay in the house. 🤦♀️
Poor child
Oh Sebastian looks very fine to me, I wouldn't mind him stopping by now and then lol
The barbarism, brutality & misogyny that was normal back then is insane. You literally couldn’t trust your own family-everything was life or death & so degrading. 🤦🏻♀️

Morals, keep no secret of evil actions. Ann should have exposed Catherine earlier.
I did not get the weighing Anna piece - were they planning to rape or was it a game , did she give her consent to be part of the game ? Why was she trying to explain to Katherine , shouldn’t she be angry , hurt with the treatment and also be grateful to Katherine for saving her
Macbeth! We are doing that at school 😂, but lady Macbeth, the plotter and killer
she a wicked women and i hate this the cheat and the father and husband but killing a child the boy didn't even do anything
I hate that she killed the poor horse
