When I first moved to the DFW, I lived in Austin Ranch. Great location! I would also add that 90 percent of the stuff that he is mentioning in this video didn’t exist when I lived over there lol! Grandscape, Nebraska Furniture mart, Top Golf, so many of the restaurants and apartments, were all fields that I use to jog past lol! This was circa 2011.

I've lived in The Colony for over 20 years. It was relatively affordable a decade ago, but now, it's around the same price point as the surrounding cities.
I would say that the best part is how convenient it is. Unless you live in the Tribute or Stewart Peninsula, I can get anywhere in the DFW area within 35 to 45 minutes (using toll roads & not during rush hour).
As he mentioned, Grandscape is pretty much what we have in terms of "wow" factor. I avoid it because it is always packed. If I do go, it’s mainly to watch a late-night movie with my family.
The biggest con, in my opinion, is the amount of drunks on the road! It seems like not a weekend goes by without someone knocking over a light pole or causing a major accident.
    Personal note:
    - The lake is nasty! You couldn't pay me to swim in there. 🐊
    - Paying 300k + for a Fox & Jacob is a joke!
    - Crime? Eh, it happens, but honestly, it's a safe city.
    - Grandscape is overhyped, and so is NFM. Why do we need so many furniture stores??

For anyone not from north Texas and wanting to relocate here, The Colony is in general a lower class city. Most of the neighborhoods were built with very inexpensive homes to attract people who wanted to live in the suburbs, but couldn’t afford Plano, Carrollton, Richardson, Garland, etc. In fact, a DFW home builder in the 1970’s, Fox and Jacobs, became famous for essentially creating the city when one didn’t exist. Sure, there are newer neighborhoods and some still actively building new homes. But there is no escaping the fact that the vast majority of the city and the neighborhoods were built very cheaply. The Colony pretty much ruined the reputation for the home builder Fox and Jacobs.
