    Hell yeah! That's the way we learned on our 26X last summer- jump in and DO IT! We never sailed before but got the feel for it pretty quick. At first I just didnt want to screw anything up and it was stressful. Now its just total FUN! After a few more times you'll addicted.... Thanks for the vids, cant wait for more!

    Great video guys, loved all the mistakes, reminds me of my first time out, although I made a lot more. All that was missing is falling into the water while dealing with the jib and having someone start the motor to come back for you. Yeah, I was the one who fell overboard. Your attitude is spot on though, if you can laugh at yourself, learning is the easier and adds to the fun of it all. Thanks for sharing, sail on.

    Love this video! I am a new sailboat sailor too, so I’ll be making lots of mistakes when I go out. But it’s all about the experience and it looks like you had fun. Well done and thanks for sharing.

    When you tack, steer slowly and pull all sails tight, into the center line (this is called pinching). Don't release the jib line until the sail luffs (flutters) and crosses the midline. Then, release the windward line and haul in the leeward line. Let the line out as you fall off the wind.
    The mainsail and boom will take care of themselves, so don't haul the boom over, just be aware that it will flip over somewhat violently. Jibes are worse because the swing is longer and has more energy, so always be aware of the boom and your position when you're sailing.

    Just like it says in the Macgregor 26 promotional video, you really can learn to sail a Macgregor in an afternoon. Thanks Guys.

    Sorry, I laughed all the way watching that. Absolutely brilliant, learning as you go. I'm totally new to sailing, and have a 26x, so watching everything you guys do, to learn. Keep up the videos, superb 👍

      @@FrigateChaserFishing only reason i was laughing, was because I know, I would have been worse than that. My first and only time, I put my front sail up, and sat there for 30 mins, not moving 😂. Gave up after that and used engine .

      @@markys9037 Haha. No worries! Laugh away. Always learning. Many mistakes will be made. Especially by us 😂

      What do you think of the possible boat names so far?

    Good job keeping the hatch closed. That's sailing rule number 1.

    I'm about to jump into my first 26x sail and with zero experience other than a lot of reading, videos and, safety courses and like yours with a new jib. Your video has made me aware of a few things that I will incorporate in my first outing. Thanks for your video and wish me luck. BTW I'm in Cape Canaveral FL and will utilize the Indian River to get my first sail under my belt my goal is to use the intercoastal and Atlantic to travel...

    Take a look at the Barefoot doctors they have one and have a lot of experience sailing.
    Especially the keel and water ballast system.

    Hi guys, nice video. Your mainsheet is upside down: the release-cam attaches to the pedestal and the non-release pulley attaches to the boom

    “Breaking Wind” is the most appropriate boat name considering the owners of said boat.

    Knot a crew? Ha ha just kidding. 😂

    Swap the ends of your main-sheet block. That cam cleat should be on the pedestal side and not the boom side. It will be easier to adjust.

    • @FrigateChaserFishing
      @FrigateChaserFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Will give it a shot. We actually added a lower clip on the pedestal so it attaches next to floor. Less stress on helm but that puts the cam cleat pretty low. But will def give it a go. Thanks .

    My fave name so far is 'Knot a Clew' If I was to suggest a slight modification to your other one? 'Zero Knots Given' And always a good alternative: 'Catch My Drift' Of course you might want to keep the name as short as possible when you have to start spelling it out in phonetics on VHF... 🤔

    lift the motor out when sailing...less drag.

    • @FrigateChaserFishing
      @FrigateChaserFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Very true. But we had an issue of the fuel line getting pinched when lifted. Didn’t want to unhook incase we needed it quick. And didn’t want to break it off at the motor. We got it sorted out now. 👍🏼

    Port jib line too short or not released, when on port tack...hence sail shape is not good.
    Where's your cunningham? Rig one. And get those wrinkles out of the Main foot! Arghhhh, Pirates!

    It's painfully obvious that ya'll are TH-cam sailing amateurs. The proper way to film dolphins is to have a pretty girl in a bikini standing at the bow. One hand holding onto the fore stay and the other holding a camera taking selfies while dolphins are swimming in the background. It's practically part of the ASA course on YouTubing. I always liked the MacGregor X and M for their versatility and price. Fair winds out there.
