In a first, MotorInc appreciated a bike, made by none other than Bajaj, and not for its performance. Says a lot about how well NG04 is made.

i was wondering why you didn't discuss or explain - why bajaj decided to go petrol + CNG instead of pure CNG bike??
      it could...
      reduce complexity
      reduce weight
      reduce cost
slightly increase CNG storage capacity, range & mileage
so why not pure CNG 2 wheeler?
& when you where discussing about possibilities of an CNG + petrol scooter you forgot the point that when customer is purchasing a scooter, they expect good amount of under seat storage space, which is not possible if you put a CNG tank & petrol tank on a scooter. It will also increase weight of scooter. which simply means that its no longer good for elders & female riders.

Bajaj has done their homework very well. I might be overanalyzing but the bluetooth call button seems like a really good idea. Most of the time the delivery guys get a lot of calls when they're on the bike they've to remove phones from pocket or fiddle with their earphones buttons to accept calls if phone is not mounted on handlebar. Giving that call accepting button was a good gesture that I'm sure a lot of workmen will appreciate.

    • @Dkm337
      @Dkm337 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

having a call button on a bike is problematic because of regular presses could make it unusable and how these cokpanies manufacture their button housing because of one button whole assembly needs replacement.
its not about making life easy with a solution. i say by not having a solution at all is a much better choice.
besides people woud rather stuff their phones inside their helmet than to use an app which as to connect to vehicle as well as to communicator. these vehicle app system never works with 100% reliability.

Sorry bro. But I don't think the buttons are that bad. May be you have a bad experience.
I sold my pulsar 180 2013 at 1.15 lakh(11500) kms after 7 years. Buttons were working fine.. and I used button a lot like high beam low beam or indicators or dipper. I have done lot of night riding on it..

    • @Dkm337
      @Dkm337 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@nishantpratapsingh6628 no no its not like that, picture this. buttons of today now come bundled inside, how should i say this? lets say indicator and horn and headlamp toggle and then there is your tactile buttons. there are chances with regular use things will break in a sense where a simple press will not do the action. especially tactile switches they do loose their tactility and connection, overtime. and since these swich clusters usually dont come with replace individual part and replace individually, you have to buy the whole assembly where the indicator may work but you still have to replace it because your horn or call button broke. that is what i was saying. i have 23 year old 2stroke bike things dont break that easily yes but they lose the feedback becase metal connector fatigues over use. my concern is the everything on one control assembly and not being able to avail and replace individual component with tiny screws behind them. and the whole nonsense of mobile app connectivity and their reliability.

I am really happy with what Bajaj has stepped into, not taking about CNG, but about uniqueness and innovation. Pulsur is one of the emotion which I think of as a aspiration, which should some day regain its stature, not by surpassing every other peer in performance( as we have a very healthy competition there) but it should take a page out of freedom in sense of uniqueness and quality engineering. I am not sure if I will buy one in the future as I have moved to higher CC segments, but man I want to see that emotion succeed.

Had a Wagon R CNG in the family for a very long time (2004 dec make, Lovato CNG conversion kit). The only irritating point about that car was waiting in line to fill up the CNG amongst all the cabbies being irked that they are spending their working time not earning money. The CNG line is often the most guarded line. I wonder what will happen when the novelty wears off and they have to stand in the rickshaw line .That is my guess as most stations for at least two years will not bother with a separate pump for a relatively rare vehicle.
    Hats off to Bajaj though.
P.s. Bajaj may not be off when they said cruising at sedate pace can give 115kph. my Wagon R on the highways just sitting at 80kph, gave insanely high mileage. maybe CNG fueling requires less effort to just maintain the engine that is only ticking over at a constant pace. easier to modulate the amount of gas injected resulting in smaller precise bursts through the injectors giving a higher economy

Instead it is giving the customer the best thing possible at the price. As always an insightful and wonderful episode from MotorInc. The best way to have spent my lunch break.
Also, a question that might be a bit stupid and could be answered through a Google search. But here goes.
Aren't ABS-fitted brakes mandatory? I have always noticed how MotorInc has batted for universal ABS and has called the lack of such a system, a deal breaker while considering a vehicle. Does the combi brake in the Freedom, deliver similar braking performance?

@@arjunkovoor9488 Hi. The government, as per usual, didn't quite write the rule well enough/diluted it deliberately.
Hence, CBS is enough for regulatory compliance.
And no, ABS (even pretty basic) is far superior to CBS. CBS merely ensures that beyond a certain threshold, the front brakes will start to also be applied along with the rear brake giving you a better chance of not fishtailing. But you can easily, and absolutely will still lock-up your wheels with CBS.
Even front-only ABS is better than that. And absolutely nothing like ABS front and rear. As the good folks at Motor Inc rightly hammer it home, it is a must-have (the irony of me waiting for an ABS-less Ather as I type this is something I'll try not to think about).

I might buy this bike just for the sake of its novelty and start living with it ASAP. I love the way it looks and your perspective almost paints the whole picture for me, a test ride will complete it. And to talk about the scooter part, I think it might not be happening. Since Shumi has mentioned that the CNG tank needs some open space to cool down as it runs really hot. Scooters have more body work covering them, so yeah it is just my guess with your info, they might work around it with a cooling system but, then that is going to increase the weight and equipment required. Also any info on when it is available?

If there was one reason needed to convince that a product like this, needed a product review format like Motorinc First, this is it. You can ride and ride the bike all day long, but once you saddle off, you sit and talk and get into the weed of things of why something just works. Great work guys.
On bajaj freedom, mighty impressive to have such a disruptive product, and getting so much right in the first try. This has the potential to change the commuter segment, design of bikes, fueling infrastructure, and Bajaj's reputation. And this is going to go abroad, bring in engineering accolades as well.

Every now and then Bajaj comes up with an unconventional but verryyy appealing design. Like the V15.
I always hoped that they'd translate the V15 to V400 or something. Making the gear a little short and the 373 cc engine a little calm. Would've made a lot of sens.e

@@motorinc it would have been much better than the ns400z. The whole point is that indians don't always look for speed. They look for identity, authenticity, a well tuned engine and comfort. People love the ktms, REs and all those for these reasons. Bajaj however fails to identify this. They always think performance is what made the old pulsars a hit.

I would love to test this bike, despite it not being my kind of bike. I love that Karthik brought up the fact that the workmen bikes shouldn't be just boring and plain! I love the innovation that Bajaj, out of all the brands, to come up with this! I hope that other brands in India use this technology to develop their own kind of motorcycles, with different shapes and sizes! OMG I loved the Honda Grom reference too!! Overall, really looking forward to this bike dominating the 100-150cc family bike market! Kudos to Bajaj

8:56 Finally.... One of the very few channels that has the courage to address this long seat issue and condemned on the speech of Rajiv Bajaj.. 4 people riding on a bike is illegal & it's really unsafe & dangerous (ofcourse not all the 4 is gonna wear helmets) thing to do on public roads which may lead to accident of other riders on the roads. And the story that he narrated about how he felt when he was travelling in his car and he saw a middle class family with a children bla bla bla was really unacceptable. Kudos to you guys for speaking it loud. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I'm really proud & happy to be a long time follower of Shumi & Karthik.. ❤️❤️

I really hope this becomes a commercial success, and doesn't get branded as a delivery guy motorcycle
We still need to figure out the alternate fuel approach for motorcycles and this could be a step in the right direction

Bajaj has been testing Wind/Platina CNG, Electric Scooters, and Electric Qute since the mid-2000s. One problem, though, is that Vanaz already has CNG kits for Activa and Jupiter. The combined range is less than a 10-13 ltr petrol tank bike.
Why was twin rear shockers not possible.. would it have made more space for the tank and may be reduced the height of the seat .
How is the auto transition of CNG to petrol and vice versa feel.. is it the same as you manually switch..
Also, I feel filling CNG won't be that much of a hassle because if you go any petrol pump you would need to wait 10 mins generally.. this might be a little longer. But visits to refuel whether petrol or CNG will be more frequent.. may be almost twice given the power and torque are close to a 100 cc bike... Say it gives a efficiency of 50 kmpl and with a 10 ltr tank, 500 kms is when you would do the next refuel.. here it's just 300+ combined.
    Really good video.. nice explanation.
