    Just wondering how this bucket hat is holding up? Most people use cotton yarn to hold the shape, but I have a light 3 weight acrylic yarn Iv'e been wanting to use. Does is get droopy overtime? First time making a bucket hat. Thank you!

      The yarn I used for the hat in this video is a 3 weight acrylic yarn, and it’s held up very well for me - no drooping! Sometimes the brim flies up a bit in the wind, but that happens with all of my brimmed hats haha

    hi!! sorry if this is a stupid question, but if i do round 5 twice (or more) before doing round 6, will it help make the head circumference wider/bigger so that it would fit me? (since 22" is too small for me apparently haha) thank you for this tutorial btw!!

    Thanks for the tutorial...
    This is very helpful, I had to enlarge the picture but it's okay, it's clear enough, the important thing is to know the names of the stitches first. ❤

    Love this so much! I followed your tutorial to make myself a strawberry bucket hat (the holes between the stitches look like seeds) and it turned out SO CUTE! I did have to remove a few rows because it was a little bit too big, but I believe that has more to do with my gauge/yarn, not the pattern itself

      @@quinnbender im not switching colors so i think thats my problem. my project kept having a pointed tip at the top of my circle. ive restarted it 3 times and the same thing happens.

    • @quinnbender
      @quinnbender  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@KnotsByAngie No problem if you don't want to switch colors! Just make sure that at the end of each round you slip stitch across your project into the next chain space (so after you slip stitch into the top of the chain 3 from the beginning of your round, you'll want to slip stitch into the next double crochet stitch(es) and then slip stitch into the chain space to start your next round.) As for the pointed tip, the only thing I can think of is that your stitch count may be off. I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions!

    What's the hook size please?

    • @quinnbender
      @quinnbender  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I used a 5mm hook, but use whatever hook you need to match the gauge ☺️

  • @PURPLEHAZE30000
    @PURPLEHAZE30000 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I plan to use a dk cotton but dont know what hook size for an adult. Any advice? I don't understand use the hook size for the guage.

    • @quinnbender
      @quinnbender  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’d suggest starting with a 5mm hook! Make a test swatch (a 4x4 inch square in double crochet) with the yarn you want to use and the 5mm hook. Compare your test swatch to the gauge provided and adjust your hook size accordingly! If you have more stitches and rows in your test swatch compared to the provided gauge, you’ll want to use a larger hook. If you have fewer stitches and rows, you’ll want to use a smaller hook. Hope this helps!

    What is a "chain space"

    • @quinnbender
      @quinnbender  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s the space between the stitches that was created by chaining in the previous row! (All the holes in the hat between the stitches are chain spaces)

    Hello! Im a bit confused as to how you come out with 12 stitches at the end of RND 1? Can you explain a bit more please? Maybe im just counting wrong but i usually count the edge stitches like if they were single crochets for example.

    • @quinnbender
      @quinnbender  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think you may be counting the chain spaces as stitches, but you should only be counting the DC stitches! In RND 1 there are 6 sets of 2 DC, so there are 12 stitches. Hope that clears things up!

    • @simplyakindasussamurai.11
      @simplyakindasussamurai.11 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @quinntimara I have 18 sets of 3 doble crochets after RND 3, does that sound correct? And thanks for the quick response! 😄

    • @simplyakindasussamurai.11
      @simplyakindasussamurai.11 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@quinnbender okay wait , I believe I see the issue now. Like when we go into the next chain space in RND 2, do we skip 4 DCs and then go into that space, or skip 2 and go in between the sets of DCs? I think I was mainly confused because I haven't worked with chain spaces before haha

    • @quinnbender
      @quinnbender  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When working RND 2, you’ll skip 2 DC stitches and work in the next chain space. Throughout the pattern, you’ll be working in every single chain space, you’ll never skip a chain space. Another way to look at it is that by the end of RND 1, you should have 6 chain spaces. In RND 2, you will (DC 2, ch 1, DC 2) in all 6 of those chain spaces. So at the end of RND 2 you should have 12 sets of 2DC and 12 chain spaces.
