🌟for anyone that ended up too small after row 5🌟mine only made it to 4.5 inches at row 5. for row 6 and 7 I repeated rows 4 and 5. ended up at 6.25 inches
Thank you, I’m going to have to start over bc with the instructions mine fits my 1 year old granddaughter 🥰but it looks cute on her. So for an adult size I’ll have to more rows. Thanks so much
😂😂 I put this video on my list of crochet tutorial to watch since last year 😂 but yesterday PassionKnit Kelsie reminded me to watch it and I'm here. 😊😊this is a great tutorial thank you ❤❤❤
I'm literally just a teenager who loves doing hobbies that "old" people mostly do. I'm an old soul, and I just appreciate these elder people who are kind enough to share their work, and it just kinda make my heart warm:) Thank you for the pattern btw!
I started crocheting when I was around 8 or 9 years old. Nobody taught me. Just looking at mommas around. Don't worry, you are just more visioner than girls on your age ❤
Found you from PassioKnit Kelsie’s channel. Love this hat making it now. Kelsie alternated 2 colors and it turned out so cute! Thanks for the tutorial.
I busted up laughing when "Toby" the cat jumped up there and she just sighed and said, "And so it begins."🤣 I can relate! My cat can ignore me all day, but when i sit down to crochet she is all over me, and the yarn, and the hook, pattern, you name it. Anyway Toby was hilarious. But great instructions, i liked and subscribed.
I’ve made 5 of these so far, making small amendments each time to get the right size. I’m a tight crocheter, and on the hat I am making now I am using a 7mm hook and it looks like it will be a perfect fit. I definitely recommend sizing up a hook size or two, rather than adding more increase rounds so it keeps the same shape. Amazing tutorial, thank you!!!
best tutorial, Ive tried following other supposedly "easy/fast" etc bucket crochet hats of all the millions YOURS IS THE MOST EASY, FAST, CLEAR AND CONCISE!!!! THANK YOU!!! btw the hats look great on you, Lavender is your colour, Toby is cute even when he's annoying.
I’m sorry in advance for asking a question that might already have been answered at some point. To adjust the size of the hat, without switching hook size and/or yarn weight, how could I do the increasing after row 5? Thank you 😊
You could repeat row 4 but that will make the hat very large. Try starting round 1 with 14 dc instead of 12. Then follow the steps for the rest of the rounds.
The hat looks super cute on you. As for Toby.... what an utterly adorable little rascal he is. I have 2 gingers, a male and a female: they're both total monsters but I wouldn't have it any other way. They're my world ❤. Thanks for the video. 😊
Note to self: Make Rounds 1, 2, and 3, and then make rounds 4 and 5 twice to make a bigger hat; Make the rest of the hat as normal❤ Base of the Hat: 0:59, Sides: 6:48, Brim: 14:45
How did you get the last expansion row to work up? By my calculations, it’s not possible. If I start with a cluster of 4, and continue with the pattern of 3, 4, 3, I always end with a cluster of 4 instead of 3. It just doesn’t work up that way. So I’m curious how you get it to work.
glad this lovely tutorial is getting the traction it deserves! do you by chance allow people to sell the things they make from this pattern? i’m obsessed and don’t need the 8 hats i’ve already made 😭
"And, so it begins." 😂 Every cat I've ever had has done that. Ignore ya all day and as soon as you start, they're there. 🤦♀️ Love the way you hid the tail at the beginning. That's how my grandma taught me. This is the first video of yours that I've watched. Gonna subscribe and watch more.
I use my left over yarn, sizes 2 and 3. Using 5mm hook. Made 6 inches on 5th row. Your instruction is amazing. I am a newbie, but I can understand even without written stitch count. WITHOUT STITCH MARKER!! And no dizzy counting! Just flowing. haha it is new to me. Looking at your hand working makes me feel crocheting is that easy and relaxing. Give me confidence I can do it till finish. I made my own, cute three color yarn. Fit my head so well. Love it so much. Thank you thank you thank you . A bunch of love, From Indonesia ❤
I found your channel last Summer thanks to this tutorial and made a few with coordinating granny crossbody minibags but then sort of forgot about it when it was not bucket hat season. Your latest video where you mention it and losing the plushie crojo was a wonderful and needed reminder. I also had to checkout PassioknitKelsie’s version and of course now I need to try one with alternating colors. I also like her change for a less wavy brim. Do you have any suggestions for doing that? My guess is maybe instead of your 7 trick to do 10 or more before starting with the next four cluster. Thanks for sharing Robin!
I went back and watched her video again and paused the video to get a good look at it. She did 2 clusters of 3 than the increase cluster so your thinking of the 10 is correct. So when you start the brim the first round in the regular increase round, then 2 rounds with no increase, then increase round with 10 count, then 1 more regular round and end with a sc round.
Such a great pattern! I got sent here like many other after watching Kelsie's video. I've been struggling making a hat for my partner as their head is bigger than most (literally speaking lol) Would anyone have advice on how to expand it? Would it be okay just to do one more row on the crown maybe with 4 DC's in a cluster each? Or still keep with 3?
The 5 rows are too small when I use the I love this cotton I guess I have a large head but would I just do two more rows for an extra increase? I crocheted loosely and how I normally crochet and its too small
These hats look soooooooo cute on you! I jope you wear them out for the summer! I followed along and made a black and grey one. I will be making more! I have plenty of yarn to get rid of lol. ❤
I have tried this, I get the increases bit 15:21 right and it measures 5.5”. But when I then do the next rounds with no increases it is too small for my head(I have a tiny head!) I cannot work out where I am going wrong!
Are you using a 4 weight yarn? 5mm hook? Is your tension super tight? It could be a lot of things. It fits my 22 inch head so maybe try relaxing your tension.
5mm hook, lily’s sugar and cream cotton yarn. My tension seems fine because when I measure it, it’s 5.5” at the correct point. I know it’s me, I just don’t know why! I will try it again with a 6mm and see what happens 😊
I did it again and it’s turned out perfectly. I must have missed some increases. It’s a lovely tutorial, very clear and I can’t wait to make some more. Came here after watching Passioknit Kesie. Thank you both
Can anyone help me? Whenever I try to crochet a hat, it’s always way to small and I have to give it to my doll. I’m using the same hook size and pattern. However, I did use acrylic yarn instead of cotton yarn. Is tht the only issue?
Acrylic yarn should not matter, the weight of the yarn will. Everyone's tension is different and you may just need to go up in hook size. Here is a link to a video that goes over different sizing solutions th-cam.com/video/jyuHsNFHE1Q/w-d-xo.html
Okay Robin, I’m getting ready to start this bucket hat. Just found out about this video when I watched your latest. Maybe my crojo will come back. I’ll let you know.
You should wear hats you look marvelous darling 😊...really hat turned out good. I made one along with you, Thanks so much for sharing, (I don't wear hats either, but I'm going to start)
you should be a hat person, as you look really nice in it. so wear it. I love hats so I am going to attempt to make one, after I finish my Christmas Stockings. thank you for the video and your time.
I did everything like the tutorial, just with the color change of passioknit kelsie, but my hat stays flat. Can anyone help me please? I don't know what to do 🥲
This tutorial was so fun to make (i used 5.5mm crochet hook, because i wanted my bucket hat to bigger) and i will crocheting more those hats. So HUGE THANK YOU for easy + fun tutorial i enjoyed a lot.

Hi besties, I hope somebody can help me figure this out. I'm an intermediate-beginner, so I need your expert advice!!! I have a BIG head and the original pattern didn't fit. If I need to make it bigger without affecting the shape, should I add regular rows (three double crochets) or add the increase ones (alternate four and three double crochets)??? Thank you so so much
@@KnottingHookCrochet thank you so much for the response 🩷 I made it with lily sugar n cream and used a 5.5 hook and it was a little snug but stretched just the right amount! I’m obsessed
@@MsDannie83 I would recommend to try it on your head as you go and trust the process a little bit. I was scared because my measurements were not accurate to the ones in the tutorial but I kept going and trying it on and also being conscious of my tension, because I tend to be a very tight crocheter. I made it with a 6.5 mm hook at first but it was a little too loose, so a 5.5 mm worked perfect for me. Good luck (:
you don't say at the beginning of the video how much yarn you will need for this...?? anyone make it yet know ?? if you used a 4 weight? she just shows skeins.. i can look it up but she doesn't say she used the whole skein of both or one or 1/2 or any amount.. i can watch all of it to find out I am guessing.. or hoping.. I don't want to start this without knowing ahead
just made this hat in the span of maybe 1.5-2 hours, off and on, and omg it's the fastest little thing. so cute. I didn't change the colors I just went straight on with one color. for those wondering when you don't change the colors it uses almost the entirety of one "I love this cotton" skein when you do the one-row longer version so you only need to buy one skein for this project. Amazing, just love it.
On the last expansion round I keep ending up wrong. With 2 4s next to eachother. I double check I follow you to a t, and still end up wrong. I've even counted how many clusters you have and I have and still end up wrong. I have OCD and it is super bugging me.
I followed the written pattern together with the video, love it! However, I increased a few rounds but it’s still small for me.. I guess I have a big head 😂
I love this tuturial! I love the simplicity and beauty of the granny hat! Is it possible to do a moc up for a child size so I could try mommy and me hats!! Please please ❤
