      The New Jedi Order really should be more stringent and at times covertly spying on their potentially wayward apprentices all the time... and also their potentially neglectful Masters. Saying this as a guy with military mindsets.

    Great video. It's frustrating when new canon fans who don't really know about EU Luke outside of him not completely failing and being powerful keep saying he was too perfect. He was arguably a terrible master at first. Plenty of students died, turned to the dark side and/or left his academy initially (with Mara Jade, Corran Horn and Kyle Katarn being in the third category). It makes his later success all the more better.

      See I often find the opposite of this lots of Star Wars fans glorify characters like Revan, Luke, and Anakin and never talk about there flaws it’s odd because that is what made me care about any of these characters they had flaws but still were interesting and improved

    • @rcbmmines4579
      @rcbmmines4579 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@enisra_bowman People dislike and even hate TLJ Luke for many reasons. Mark Hamill himself couldn’t see him as his Luke originally and still has regrets over the trilogy even as he praises other parts of it. Sam Witwer also has the same opinion with similar points as Mark. The reasons you pointed out may be true for some but it’s a simplification for the majority, especially actual EU fans.
      ST Luke was tempted to kill his own nephew and apprentice entrusted to him by his sister and best friend, who he’s been training since childhood. He was tempted long enough to actually bring out and activate his lightsaber (this is the final version of the flashback not Kyle/Ben’s), all for things he hasn’t done yet. And then instead of fixing his mistake, he let it grow worse until it eventually did become as bad as he thought it would. And in the end his legacy was completely destroyed with Rey, who he didn’t really train outside ranting about how the Jedi were failures, being the one who has to do everything he was supposed to again.
      EU Luke on the other hand learned from his experience with Anakin. Maybe too much. He redeemed Mara Jade, Kam Solusar and Kyp Darron but failed with Gantoris, Desann, Brakiss, Kueller and Jacen/Caedus. Corran Horn pointed out in I,Jedi that Luke was too invested in the idea that anyone could be redeemed to the point of leniency and complacency with Kyp, all because of his emotional bias with Anakin. That’s a much more natural progression, growth and flaw for Luke from the OT IMO. In the end, he still had temptations with the Dark Side in Dark Empire and LOTF, but ultimately the good outweighed the bad. The new generation he helped create still existed even with casualties and new stories can come from them, instead of simply repeating their story but “better”/worse.

      @enisra_bowman 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@rcbmmines4579 well, ofc. it's a simplification with two sentences, but as if the People that didn't want to like any point of the Sequels and insult others that not hate them are not Simple ones and that was all that one could get out of them when asked "why new bad?"
      But a bit like with the Prequels, we've gone from RotJ Luke directly to Fearful and Depressed Luke like we've got no charakter development of anyone between Ep.2 and 3. and only guessed that Anakin had to become Vader because of the OT or whom some charakters even are since we missed basicly all of the Clone Wars.
      More "Midsequels" might help to clarify the development.

    The Jedi academy trilogy, despite its many plot falls certainly did a brilliant job in showing that Luke even more so in the aftermath of the events of dark empire, is capable of failure and being a teacher, whom is still learning, yet will make mistakes. Which is why he has several students going to the dark Side, with Kyp temporarily and Kuller, being the worst failures in respect of the chaos and damage they wreck across the galaxy as a result of their falls.

    8:39 “Yslamari” is pronounced “ees-la-MARR-ee” I believe
    I love these guys. They are predated on by a tiger-like species which hunts via the force, so they have evolved a way to negate the force locally as a safety mechanism, such that they and everything near them cannot be observed or felt through the force. And this “anti-force bubble” increases exponentially in size, the more Yslamari there are nearby.
    The biggest downside is, they need to live on a specific kind of wood, which lives on a specific planet. So ya gotta have kind of an operation going. But like, Luke described walking through one of these bubbles in the force, and how utterly disconnected it made him feel from everything else, and how terrifying the experience was for him. The emperor hid a base, a BASE, with these things!

Plus the reason why he is so sure in the belief of redemption is because he actually managed to turn one of the reigning dark lords of his time with that person being Vader of course. Not even obi wan could help Vader at that point. What Luke did there was very impressive.
