My husband hates this song because she used this guy selfishly for her own reasons. It's a great song, but you have to feel sorry for the poor young guy.
LOL! Lots of reactors are kind of shocked by this song, especially the fellows. The woman wanted a child, which her man couldn’t give her, so apparently, she engaged in these one-night stands until she encountered this one guy who did give her a baby. “So we found this hotel. It was a place I knew well.” There had been others. Ann and Nancy were never huge fans of the song because they didn’t agree with that kind of behavior. We fans love it, though! Glad you liked it.
@darktitan6308 I saw it as saving his ego and their marriage, you know how sensitive you men are LOL! She knew it was his fault, he was probably blaming her LOL!
Totally goofy lyric, but so what?? It's all about one of the most powerful, capable rock bands of all time with vocals that could scrape the paint off the ceiling. VOCALS, percussion, guitars - - the production is untouchable.
Ann Wilson has one of the greatest voices in rock & roll and in the beginning, nobody expected that from her or knew she possessed that voice. Ann and Nancy Wilson are rock gold.
It is one of my favorite songs from "Heart" they really can tell a good story and sad at the end because they recognize themselves especially when he saw his child. That was the "point." Truly sad but beautifully expressed by Ann's beautiful voice and Nancy guitar playing. Love it still after almost 40 years.
Congratulations to Jay & Amber for their 1400th Video!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Man, Heart could really belt it out, couldn't they! I look forward to future reactions of "Heartless", "Dog & Butterfly", "Never" and "What About Love". How can you not love the Wilson sisters?
This song has the simplest of meanings. She was married to her love. He was not able to give her a child. While driving around, if she saw an attractive man, she would pick him up for a night of lovemaking. As the song says, she took him to a motel she knew well. This wasn't the first guy she had taken there. Once she got pregnant, she was satisfied.
I find it interesting that Heart did not like this song and stopped performing it. I thought it was one of the best story telling songs ever... I always liked it.
Basically she picked up a random on the street in the hope of getting pregnant because it was the one thing the man she's 'in love' with couldn't give her! Amber says it's beautiful, yet calls Lionel Richie's 'Hello' creepy LOL
I love how lovely Amber is enjoying the record, sonically, and Jay keeps on stopping it in disbelief hahaha!! God, I love these two! Great record by Heart, written and produced by Mutt "cheater" Lange.
I always request that song on the few reaction channels I'm subscribed. Never gets played. I think the songs by bands that didn't get much airplay are the best, for instance "Lady Luck" by Journey, "Little Miss Lovin'" by Chicago, "Night Flight" by Zepp, the list goes on. I also wish there were reactions to the band "UFO." They were amazing.
What I see some women get desperate over not having children. However, it is sad for the man that gave her that child. That must have hurt him not being part of that child.
Yes it is.. I just saw Heart at the Allstate Arena and they didn’t sing this one, I looked on TH-cam and I guess Ann doesn’t like singing that song because she thinks it’s creepy, I have to disagree with her on that one
I loved watching Jay's expressions. 😄 This is a very scandalous song, one that Ann has admitted makes her very uncomfortable to perform, and dislikes it due to its message. Yet, it's one of their biggest hits. 🤷
Ann Wilson has referred to this song as part of their sellout era when they comprised their values to sell records, The song was written by Shania Twain's ex husband Mutt Lange and while Heart had some reservations they gave in and recorded it. Recently Ann has rewritten some of the lyrics to change the narrative since she always said she felt very uncomfortable performing the original version. Interesting video with new version th-cam.com/video/nc97E9AnhRU/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=AnnWilsonofHeart
Thank you so much for your comment about the song "Stranded". I thought I had heard every song of Hearts, but I’ve never seen or heard this song. I had to go pull it up as soon as I read your comment & came straight back here after watching it to Thank You!! ✌️☮️
I love the look on Jay's face as he's listening to the second verse and understanding the plotline... and then the third verse when it all comes together.
Such a powerful song... I grew up listening to this song as my dad was a Heart fan. When I married my husband his life dream was to be a dad. We found out 2 yrs in that he was steril. This song was brought up to me several times but luckily it wasn't our solution as a relative got pregnant with a baby boy she couldn't afford but didn't want to abort. Our son started pre-K this yr. He knows he's super lucky to have been born with bonus parents. A stable mom & dad who take care of him & a mom & dad who visit when they can. I'm so happy you guys reviewed this beautiful song.
I'm dying, he's is sooooooo offended! LOL He is so confused why she just ditched him! I grew up with this song, this was so fun watching you guys be surprised by it. And I love that I keep seeing videos with you wearing Def Leppard shirts, I was obsessed with them from middle school on. They were my band. Love you guys. And hope you had a happy birthday!!!!!!!
I remember seeing an interview of Ann one time and she said she hated that song and was pressured to do it. I went to Wiki to see what it said and confirms it. "In the liner notes of Heart's album The Road Home, Ann Wilson commented on the band's dislike for the song, stating, "Actually we had sworn off it because it kind of stood for everything we wanted to get away from. It was a song by 'Mutt' Lange, who we liked, and it was originally written for Don Henley, but there was a lot of pressure on us to do the song at the time."[4] Ann Wilson has made a number of comments on her dislike for the song, calling the song's message "hideous" in an interview with Dan Rather.[5] In that same interview, Ann mentions that she's surprised at how many of their fans, especially in Australia and New Zealand, want to hear the song to this day when Heart plays live. Although Heart does not perform this song any more due to Ann's dislike of it, Ann did eventually perform this song on her 2017 tour, though her version of the song had a few changes."
These Dreams is another slower one that Nancy actually leads on. I can't recall if you did that one yet or not but it's another of my favorites of theirs.
While not the Heart song I was truly hoping for, ('Never') it's still an awesome song with a heck of a twist in the story. Also happy birthday again Amber! :D
Nancy always said she hated this song I never understood why. In my opinion one of their best song's. Even though the girl went hoein that night. We've all done it.😊
TWO THINGS: 1) This happened to my brother around the same time this song came out! He was dating a gal he had known from high school who was separated from her husband, but after a few months, she went back to her husband. Years later, I took and Ancestry DNA test and discovered my brother had a daughter he didn't know about. Turned out, her mom was the gal my brother had dated, and she'd actually been separated from her husband because he couldn't get her pregnant! CRAZY. 2) Am I the only one who just realized, 30 years after the fact, that the line "We found a hotel; IT WAS A PLACE I KNEW WELL" meant that she had been REPEATEDLY picking up guys and having sex with them in her effort to get pregnant?! She was likely looking for and sleeping with guys that looked like the man she actually loved, but it took multiple hook-ups before she finally got pregnant!
First time I've commented on a Jay and Amber video, although I've been watching about a year now. I'm cracking the hell up at Jay's reactions and Amber's counter reactions. I keep thinking back to the very first video I saw from them, which was Meat Loaf's "Paradise ..." and the way Jay was trying to keep from bursting while Amber just got more confused. She turned the tables on him here. So funny.
This is the best reaction video I’ve ever seen you guys do. Jay, I was dying with laughter at your reaction The entire time. Back when this song came out people were having the same reaction. I remember when Mason Dixon on Q105 played this song on the show for the very first time, He actually stopped the song while It was playing. Thanks for the laughs and the memories.
this song was written by 'Mutt' Lange who was a huge producer back in the day (and married to Shania Twain),was originally written for Don Henley ,who declined to record it, it was eventually recorded by Dobie Gray ,but with a totally different storyline ,the lyrics were changed by the time Heart did it on 1990 album Brigade, Ann Wilson says she Hates the whole premise of the song and rarely if ever performs the song anymore, even though it was a huge hit for the band....
Amber and Jay, you guys will eventually find that for _some_ (but not all) of us older folks, there are two camps of Heart fans, 70s Heart and after 70s Heart. just like there are two camps of Doobie Brothers fans, the Tom Johnston years and the Michael McDonald years. I prefer the "Tom Johnston years" of the Doobies and I just cannot stomach the "after 70s Heart". You have to have been around back then when the transitions happened to understand what I mean. For some of us, it runs deep. Especially with Heart.
Good point. And I have to agree with that. I've seen some threads where people actually draw some definite lines between which eras they stand with, And you're right, Especially with Heart. I would say with the Doobies, many Tom Johnston fans (myself included) definitely respect Michael McDonald and his music but they just prefer the more rock oriented style that Tom Johnston had. But with Heart, it's definitely more divided.
You guys should react to more Heart… "Dreamboat Annie", "Heartless", "Without You", "Devil Delight", "Kick It Out", "Little Queen", "Dog & Butterfly", "What About Love", "Never", "These Dreams" 🎸🤘
I always loved this song. It's so heartbreaking. Her desperation to have a child leading her to have anonymous one night stands (she never expected to connect with him, 💔). But the young man's side of the story is heartbreaking too. In my head cannon I always saw it as him having fallen in love with her as well, 💔. After she ghosted him harshly, he stayed at the hotel (maybe she referenced she was familiar with it as they were driving) and became employed there in hopes that one day he would see her again. When he does, he sees a future they might have had but never will, 💔. All around, it is such a heartbreaking song. 😭
My all time favorite Heart song. Love the story and the video is perfect for the song. Happy Birthday Amber!!! ROTFL...the expressions on your faces is just priceless. Didn't expect that ending, did you?
The story is that, the guy she was in love with could not get her pregnant. His little swimmers were no good. So she goes out driving looking for a guy to get her pregnant. That's what she meant by, "the one little thing you can give me that the guy she is in love with can't" And happy birthday to Amber!☺️
Sweet Reactions! Happy Birthday, Amber!!! 🤘💜🤘 Here's a fun fact about Ann Wilson. At the prime age of 72, she will be performing at this year's Wacken Open Air Festival, in Germany. Known as one of the largest Heavy Metal festivals in the world.
I saw an interview with Ann a few months ago. She was asked of all the songs they have recorded, which was her least favorite. Ann said "All I want to do " because of the story line. She said, I mean who does that? But, it turned out to be our biggest hit!!!
I absolutely loved watching Jay's reaction! I was anxiously awaiting his reaction to the reveal lol Another one of my favorite songs of all time.......
This is one of the most played songs in my personal playlist. such a powerful song and story. I would also like to point out that the folks from Halestorm do an absolutely amazing cover of this song! also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMBER!
I am so so proud of you two!! Amber says “today we’ve got Heart” and Jay - “The Wilson Sisters!” You have learned sooo much since you started the channel. Great job! ♥️
Anne really wasn't keen on them recording this song when it was offered to them (describing the message as "hideous") but she makes a really good job of it! Not one of my favourites but I do still get goosebumps at the "saw his own eyes" bit.
"In an interview with Dan Rather on AXS TV, Ann and Nancy Wilson discussed this song. Nancy: "All I Wanna Do" is a song that was written by a really famous producer-songwriter, Mutt Lange, who went on to do country music. And you could hear in that song the formulaic thing that was going to become country music, that he was up to already at the time. It has a great hook, it has a great sound, but for Ann, not her favorite song to sing. It's about the lyrics. Ann: Once again, it's about the problematic lead singer. Has to be authentic, has to believe in the words she's singing. Nancy: Even though we changed the gender of the song around, which became so shocking that they banned it in Ireland because it was song about a girl, a wanton lassie, who picks up a hitchhiker guy. Ann: Like, you're a hitchhiker, I don't know you so let's get in the car and exchange fluids and now, get out. I mean, that's hideous. Nancy: It's an interesting thing about songs like that, though, because unless you're Ann Wilson and you have to stand there and deliver this message that's in the words, you know, most people when they hear something that they love they're not thinking into all the corners of the song. They're just feeling good and listening to it." (Songfacts)
I've seen Ann in an interview and this is NOT her favorite song to sing live, or even be famous for! She cashes the checks but kinda has bit of singer's remorse for it! LMAO Jay's reaction was SO much like mine when I really paid attention to the story of it. 😅 My favorite Heart songs you still have to do are : Nothing At All, Never, What About Love, and These Dreams.
Happy Birthday Amber!!! 🥳Nice, I don't know why but I get emotional over the part where she shows up with baby. Halestorm's cover of this is what got me listening to them. I ❤️ Lizzy. Awesome reaction guys.
Great video to go along with the story told. Emotional, powerful, timeless. An older Heart song I wasn’t familiar with. Glad I got to see it with the two of you. Big smile and a tear in this reaction.
I saw an interview with Ann Wilson years ago about this song. It wasn't one of their songs, it was a song the studio bought off a songwriter. Ann and Nancy HATED the song, they thought it was actually quite disgusting, the story it was telling. The studio forced them to record the song and do the music video. Ann said that once they did that, they never sang the song again, either as a new recording for a "greatest hits" album or live.
That's what I heard as well. The Wilson sisters did not like the image that the promoters wanted them to portray in the 80"s. Big hair, sexy looking clothes.
I understand because of the lyrics but yhe song is rockin' beautiful, but I will give deference to the amazing Wilson sisters, they rule. Sorry, Annie, though, this song rocks!!!
This song is about her wanting a child so bad, she had a one night stand with a stranger in order to get pregnant because her husband was sterile.
That would make sense but how can you be that certain?
And most people miss that incredibly important detail. Being the guy used (no matter how or why) and then learning of it accidentally is crushing.
@@Drumaier Because the lyrics tell you :-) Listen again to the final verse…
My husband hates this song because she used this guy selfishly for her own reasons. It's a great song, but you have to feel sorry for the poor young guy.
@@Drumaier really not that hard lol
I heard this song a lot and even sang along before I actually paid attention to the words -- Wait. What??? It's whole little novel in a few verses.
LOL! Lots of reactors are kind of shocked by this song, especially the fellows. I'm in love with another man but he can't give me what I want. A child.
@darktitan6308 I saw it as saving his ego and their marriage, you know how sensitive you men are LOL! She knew it was his fault, he was probably blaming her LOL!
That a father that will never see his son for the rest of life. A boy that will never know who his real father is for the rest of his life.

When he does, he sees a future they might have had but never will, 💔.
All around, it is such a heartbreaking song. 😭
One of the best written song of all time.
I know how much you love Heart so you should check out Nothin' At

My favorite song by heart. Love the expressions on your face is watching this when I knew it was gonna be like that so cool thanks.
The story is that, the guy she was in love with could not get her pregnant. His little swimmers were no good. So she goes out driving looking for a guy to get her pregnant. That's what she meant by, "the one little thing you can give me that the guy she is in love with can't" And happy birthday to Amber!☺️
so there is a song called Superwoman by Karyn White (from 1988), i think you would both like it
You can never go wrong with listening to Heart, I love all their music❤
Totally AWESOME , BEAUTIFUL SISTERS AND BAND. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMBER. Every guys dream
Damn, Amber. You're ripped! Martial artist? - greetings from Denmark.
I saw an interview with Ann a few months ago. She was asked of all the songs they have recorded, which was her least favorite. Ann said "All I want to do " because of the story line. She said, I mean who does that? But, it turned out to be our biggest hit!!!
amazing song great video
I absolutely loved watching Jay's reaction! I was anxiously awaiting his reaction to the reveal lol Another one of my favorite songs of all time.......
Who knew that Jay was so prudish!
This is one of the most played songs in my personal playlist. such a powerful song and story. I would also like to point out that the folks from Halestorm do an absolutely amazing cover of this song! also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMBER!
I remember this song coming out around my freshman year of college, and it was SCANDALOUS, lol! It was the talk on campus for weeks. 😂🤣
I am so so proud of you two!! Amber says “today we’ve got Heart” and Jay - “The Wilson Sisters!” You have learned sooo much since you started the channel. Great job! ♥️
Great song the lyrics are so unexpected and that's what makes the story so powerful.
Anne really wasn't keen on them recording this song when it was offered to them (describing the message as "hideous") but she makes a really good job of it! Not one of my favourites but I do still get goosebumps at the "saw his own eyes" bit.
Heart refuses to play this song live.
they do it but have made minor changes to the lyrics

LMAO
Jay's reaction was SO much like mine when I really paid attention to the story of it. 😅
My favorite Heart songs you still have to do are : Nothing At All, Never, What About Love, and These Dreams.
Happy Birthday Amber!!! 🥳Nice, I don't know why but I get emotional over the part where she shows up with baby. Halestorm's cover of this is what got me listening to them. I ❤️ Lizzy. Awesome reaction guys.
Great lyrics, great song.
You can’t go wrong with any Heart ❤️ song they’re all 🔥🔥🔥
This is my favorite 💜❤️ song.Happy 🎂🎈 birthday
Great video to go along with the story told. Emotional, powerful, timeless. An older Heart song I wasn’t familiar with. Glad I got to see it with the two of you. Big smile and a tear in this reaction.
Great song-great lyrics-definitely told a story.
I heard the same thing. Even though Ann’s heart (sorry for the pun!) wasn’t in it, she pulled it off well.
And that guy in the car is way cute...
They may have hated the song but doesn't show in this performance. Rockin good.
