Wow! What a great video. I have a horse with chronic hoof abscesses that NEVER burst. Heat on the hoof and apparent bad lameness for a good week. I soak for weeks he gets better but it doesn't burst. Soo frustrating. We are going to get the vet out to rule out anything else. Hope your boy is feeling better.
So sorry about your horse. I have a horse that often gets abscesses in the winter, usually in the same 2 feet, which leads me to believe he might have acquired some structural damage in his feet during his life to make him more susceptible to abscesses in those 2 feet. Is your horse barefoot? My vet told me to make sure my farrier trims the bars and sulcasses of the frog out really well as any extra hard tissue in that area can fold over and trap bacteria next to the foot. He also recommended a product called, Durasole. It's loaded with chemicals and you have to use gloves when applying it to their hooves, but it really seems to help harden the soles of my barefoot horses.
Ask away! I'm not a vet, but would be happy to discuss my experience with this problem. The ligament took a long time to heal, but he is now sound and doing well.
Hi mate, after coming back from riding from road with stones,my horse is standing with his left forelimb forward pointing when he is restinginstall,he is not showing any lameness while walking or turning.do you think is it related to navicular syndrome.pls let me know thanks. Also pls let me know the actual symptoms of your horse when he was diagnosed with navicular syndrome pls reply thanks alot.
So. Im going through something similar right now. How is your horse doing now after pcp? Im coming back to this video after watching it before and im not sure if you did shockwave as well? Ive been given options, stem cell, pcp, or/and shockwave. What is working for you? My horse has a 10% tear in his sesmoidean ligament. We thought it was navicular too.
Hi Sara, sorry to hear about your horse's health. Wily has had a few follow-up appointments since I made this video. His ligament is doing well, but he still has scar tissue. He now looks pretty sound both directions on the lunge, but I noticed he looked slightly off tracking right after a few minutes of trot work under saddle, super mild and hardly detectable. Due to the damaged ligament, the vet noticed some instability in the coffin joint so we treated that today with Noltrex, a gel-like substance that is an alternative to a coffin joint injection. We will start him back into work in a few days. We haven't done shock wave on this injury, but I have another horse that had an old suspensory injury we did shock wave on.

I hope you got a vet to your horse?
We rehabbed his ligament. It took a long time, but he is better now.

PCP- no, no mind-altering drugs were used in this video by either me or the horse! Lol!
