    If only 10% of the tutorials on youTube were this engaging, articulate, well paced, listenable … and therefore actually educational. Kudos and THANKS!! If you're ever so inclined please make a video that goes in depth on Motion keyframing.
    I come from a Flash, Actionscript, Adobe Flex perspective and the transition to Motion has proved more challenging than I expected. For instance, though I've found relatively simple ways of keyframing the positioning of the right edge of a rectangle in Motion, I get tangled when changing the initial position of the rectangle, when adjusting the transformation origin point, and the x.scale that moves the right edge.
    I encounter odd surprises when editing my keyframed animations so I want to develop a deeper understanding that informs my workflow, and adopt best practices to avoid painting myself into corners.
    BTW your comment about Motion's capability to respond to MIDI events is really enticing!

    Thank you for the best introduction to Motion. I've had the app for years, and never played around with it. Now I will roll up my sleeves and express myself

    Thanks so much for the survival guide, which was in the end more comprehensive than many other videos out there which only confuse and move too fast. This was brilliant!

    Thank you so much for a clear look at the Motion interface and how to start using it's inbuilt capabilities . Nothing else has inclined me to actually go in and start trying to use the app - always been too much information in too short a time. Having owned Motion more than ten years, may actually be able to start using it.🙂

    Thank you for this video. I knew nothing about motion until watching this, and I'm sold. I'm sure AE will give me finer control, and a more detailed set of tools, but for what I want, Motion looks just right for me.

    Hi, I just installed Motion and am pretty confused. I have an existing Final Cut project and want to enhance (scale, movement, color saturation, etc) using key frames on a clip in that project.
    I don't see how to apply those effects to the clip using Motion while in Final Cut. Do I have to export the clip to Motion somehow?
    If so, it seems I won't be able see how the clip works in the Final Cut project as I go. I'm sure I'm missing something very basic. I'm on OS 12.6, Final Cut 10.6.4, Motion 5.6.2 Thanks in advance!

    Where did you get the butterfly?

  • @GregConquest
    @GregConquest 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This looks great, but "right out of the gate", you import a video clip that none of us have access to (butterfly.mov). The tutorial stopped right there for me. Later on the video, you do mention Motion's library on the left, but when I import a *bee* from there, the object shows up differently in the layers section. I want to follow along in your tutorial, and then expand from there, but I can't. I have to figure out how to get another video clip to import, and I don't even know what that type of video clip is even called. Video clipart? Edit1: I found a clip of a butterfly on a green screen on freestock, and I keyed the green to an alpha channel and exported it as ProRes 4444, saved it, and then imported it here, but then the "Option -- O" you refer to at 5:25 doesn't work.

    This is an absolutely brilliant introduction to Motion! After seeing your explanation on how behaviors eliminate the need to manually keyframe objects I feel like I have a foundation I can work with and I'm starting to see the potential for this application. Thank you so much for this wonderful video!!!

    Question: when you add a new object (e.g. butterfly), why does the Timeline show two objects? (i.e. Butterfly on one line, then another Butterfly on a second line underneath it?

    I’m trying to create a beam of light that rotates just like the one in this link: th-cam.com/video/xQXEq88BivQ/w-d-xo.html I tried making a 3D pyramid and lowering the opacity, but it just doesn’t look right... especially when I start to animate it. Any suggestions? I’m trying to add it to a lighthouse shot that I took to make it look like the lighthouse was lit. Thanks!
