If only 10% of the tutorials on youTube were this engaging, articulate, well paced, listenable … and therefore actually educational. Kudos and THANKS!! If you're ever so inclined please make a video that goes in depth on Motion keyframing. I come from a Flash, Actionscript, Adobe Flex perspective and the transition to Motion has proved more challenging than I expected. For instance, though I've found relatively simple ways of keyframing the positioning of the right edge of a rectangle in Motion, I get tangled when changing the initial position of the rectangle, when adjusting the transformation origin point, and the x.scale that moves the right edge. I encounter odd surprises when editing my keyframed animations so I want to develop a deeper understanding that informs my workflow, and adopt best practices to avoid painting myself into corners. BTW your comment about Motion's capability to respond to MIDI events is really enticing!
Thank you for the best introduction to Motion. I've had the app for years, and never played around with it. Now I will roll up my sleeves and express myself
Thanks so much for the survival guide, which was in the end more comprehensive than many other videos out there which only confuse and move too fast. This was brilliant!
Thank you so much for a clear look at the Motion interface and how to start using it's inbuilt capabilities . Nothing else has inclined me to actually go in and start trying to use the app - always been too much information in too short a time. Having owned Motion more than ten years, may actually be able to start using it.🙂
Thank you for this video. I knew nothing about motion until watching this, and I'm sold. I'm sure AE will give me finer control, and a more detailed set of tools, but for what I want, Motion looks just right for me.
Aah what an amazing tutorial... I wish tutorials on apple motion still continues.... From this channel Also this video worth more than 1M likes 😍 Love to see more on apple motion Keep it up bro
Hi, I just installed Motion and am pretty confused. I have an existing Final Cut project and want to enhance (scale, movement, color saturation, etc) using key frames on a clip in that project. I don't see how to apply those effects to the clip using Motion while in Final Cut. Do I have to export the clip to Motion somehow? If so, it seems I won't be able see how the clip works in the Final Cut project as I go. I'm sure I'm missing something very basic. I'm on OS 12.6, Final Cut 10.6.4, Motion 5.6.2 Thanks in advance!
This looks great, but "right out of the gate", you import a video clip that none of us have access to (butterfly.mov). The tutorial stopped right there for me. Later on the video, you do mention Motion's library on the left, but when I import a *bee* from there, the object shows up differently in the layers section. I want to follow along in your tutorial, and then expand from there, but I can't. I have to figure out how to get another video clip to import, and I don't even know what that type of video clip is even called. Video clipart? Edit1: I found a clip of a butterfly on a green screen on freestock, and I keyed the green to an alpha channel and exported it as ProRes 4444, saved it, and then imported it here, but then the "Option -- O" you refer to at 5:25 doesn't work.
Thank you very much for this video ! I bought Motion to own a motion design software, but I felt like years ago when I was learning After Effects with high difficulty... You saved a few months of my life !
This is an absolutely brilliant introduction to Motion! After seeing your explanation on how behaviors eliminate the need to manually keyframe objects I feel like I have a foundation I can work with and I'm starting to see the potential for this application. Thank you so much for this wonderful video!!!
This was very good, thank you. Question: when you add a new object (e.g. butterfly), why does the Timeline show two objects? (i.e. Butterfly on one line, then another Butterfly on a second line underneath it?
Duuuuude! Apple needs to pay you. Or I will gladly. I can't believe how much you covered in one video! I feel so empowered now. I'm registering on your site and everything is free?! At least give a donate button. Update: when I try to signup it says "Hi Spammer!". Your spam detection seems to be broken.
When I add Sequence Text to my text and then adjust some of the parameters, it seems that it only applies to some of the characters in my text (even though they're all part of one text box). Any idea how to fix this?
Wauw! This is the first Apple motion video where I didn’t get bored 😂 good job explaining the different features 🙏🏻 Ps: I like the echo on your voice 😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Like subscribe check ✔️
@@Moviola i have a quick question though. I have figured out how to loop an overlay video for use on video footage however I cant see it. It just says effect source and I don't know how to fix it since I am new to apple motion. if you can please tell me what I can do to fix it, I would really appreciate it. 😣
I’m trying to create a beam of light that rotates just like the one in this link: th-cam.com/video/xQXEq88BivQ/w-d-xo.html I tried making a 3D pyramid and lowering the opacity, but it just doesn’t look right... especially when I start to animate it. Any suggestions? I’m trying to add it to a lighthouse shot that I took to make it look like the lighthouse was lit. Thanks!

Amazing work but it wold be great if you show the preview of the final project at the start of the video
Excellent introduction to Motion. Thank you for not imposing on us an annoying musical track track.
Great intro, finding good tutorials for apple motion isn't easy, so thanks.
Here is an incredible set of tutorials. I love them. Simon is brilliant: th-cam.com/channels/7c46tWEb2grLQ95OGLxBJQ.html
congrats on such a nice presentation of motion! clear and concise! thank you 🙏
I've seen a bunch of Motion tuts and this is the best. It told me about the tools to make productive in a short, concise and pleasant way.

You're welcome! Be sure to check out our After Effects Survival Guide on this channel. Enjoy!
Good intro. Well worth watching.

I loved the work, Please do a series to show love for Motion.
Thank you a very accessible film and well articulated. So many tutorials are difficult to hear due to poor mics and lazy delivery !
Excellent explanation

Just what I needed. Personally, I like concise to the point. I find very distracting when “Experts” keep rambling, talking, etc..... so THANK YOU
Great tutorial. Thanks a lot
A fantastic tutorial! Thank you so much!
Underrated video, it should have more views and likes
Where did you get the butterfly?

right!
Thank you for the best overview to motion!
Great video, but as others have mentioned providing a link to the butterfly.mov so we can follow along would have made it even better.
Mate, thanks so much for this! I've learnt so much just from this one video!
Great tutorial. I'm surprised that it only has 2k views.

You didn't include a link to the butterfly.mov. Dislike for that! 👎
