  • We have a little dry spell so I'm going to use the 3pt. Frontier rotary cutter to mow down some thick areas around the house and down the driveway.

Thank you. This was helpful and so are all the comments. My two cents, reclaim all the ground you can. My little property was grossly overgrown and I had to tackle most of it in the past with a winch, hand tools, weed whacker with saw blade attachment... only recently did I get a small, 4' bush hog and I'm almost always backing into areas between trees and backing down the sides of the drainage creek to clear weeds.

When your using your brush hog put the front bucket down at grade level that way when you find a stump or large rock you will find it with the bucket instead of the brush hog.

I usually drop my loader down to a couple of inches above the ground to clear the way for the Rotary cutter. Just don’t go fast.

Another nice video. Would not worry too much with brush hog, They are made to handle the rough stuff. The blades should swing so if they hit something harder they will just swing back.

As Ben said brushhogs are tough. You really have to hit something to harm them. Next time try lowering your loader way down and use it to feel for any dangers. That way you can avoid any high rocks or stumps.

If you have a quick hitch you can leave it on and just undo your lower pins just like you do to put your backhoe on. Unhook the top drag arm from the tractor. Leave everything attached to the quick hitch and slide it out of the way.

I agree 100%! Caution is one of the best tools a working man can have, especially with high dollar equipment. If you get the info for the top hook on the harbor freight quick hitch let me know please, I just bought one for my 1025R a few days ago, got it around 85 bucks with coupon. Looks so much cleaner after the mowing, great job!

You'll get more comfortable with the rotary cutter. If it has a slip clutch, make sure it is free at the beginning of the season. If it uses shear pins, get a box of grade 2 bolts of the required size at your hardware store. Either way, if you hit something a bit more than it can handle it will be fine.

If you will drop your bucket about 2in. Off the ground it will hit any object before mower gets to it.

I'd be nervous at first myself using the brush hog . Hate to think of hitting something even though people say it could take . Wow . Pretty soon 1,000 subs eh . That's because you make good videos . How's that fix on the land slide at your other cabin working out ?

So far so good. They just had 4 inches of rain in a short period last week which washed out a main drag not far from us, but ours is holding up.

I bought the harbor freight on for about 110 dollars and it works just fine. You do need to buy the after market top hook.

I don't have the link but if you search tractor time with Tim's older video's he has a video about it and he gives you the link in the video.

Would anyone knowwhy my brush hog and mowing deck shuts off when I back up?

    • @ataleofthreecabins1025
      @ataleofthreecabins1025  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

There are 3 selector on the PTO, if you select rear only the brush hog will stay on, if you select the center and rear it will shut off when going in reverse unless you hold down the yellow PTO switch when going in reverse.

    Is that a 5ft or 4ft cutter

  • @coffeebert6644

You need a side sickle mower than you can drive along the edge and not worry about the terrain or your tractor driving thru the tall stuff
