    Thanks Michael for another product, how to use it, and even proves that it works. Well done.
    I have cinder blocks in a utility room with pipes, etc. It was funny -- I knew this was to be done in 30 minutes. First timer with this. I started off using a whole bag, tried applying with my 3/8" roller and was not getting that on well, and switched over to a trowel. That worked better, but takes more time - especially with cinder block and items (pipes, electric box, utility bin, etc.) in the way. Long story short -- I recommend most people to at least consider using a 1/2 bag first. My first batch got hard and I had to throw half of it out along with the bucket. My next batches I did half and worked my **s off and was still taking longer than a 1/2 hour - but managed to get it all on.
    Again, thanks for pointing us in the right direction. Like all jobs - there are many variables. I used a hack I saw somewhere and it worked great: To produce a half bag -- lay some strong rope down, lay the mortar so the rope is at the halfway point. cut at the halfway point in the bag after it's placed over the rope. Pull the rope up and if you keep pulling it back and forth it cuts the bag and you have two halves. Also, I used the upper end of the water and couldn't even imagine using less -- especially after 10 - 15 minutes and it was getting harder.
    For some reason I find working with cement/mortar fun. My Grandfather came over from Germany and was a renown bricklayer. I never had the privilege to meet him -- but I think it's in the blood (LOL). BTW -- I think you are a Michigan guy -- I'm in SW Michigan myself :)

    Sorry folks, but waterproofing basement walls IS NOT DONE FROM THE INSIDE. Inevitably, and invariable hydrostatic pressure will build up outside the wall which forces water INTO the wall, and eventually the water pressure will cause the coating to fail. PLEASE DON'T BE FOOLED BY THIS AMATEUR'S enthusiastic optimism. He even said "I've never done this before." And at the end, his hydrostatic test...forget about it. It takes time for the hydrostatic pressure to affect the bond. Don't be fooled. Also, he didn't to ANY PREP to the wall. Whatever the wall is coated with will only stick as well as the wall is prepped. Which means thoroughly cleaned and free from scaling and flaking. And don't be fooled by the criss cross application suggestion. Though that technique will help you get full complete coverage, it won't do ANYTHING for the strength of the bond.

      @@angellas.1314 the walls are doing great so far, the floor is way better than before but still has minor issues only during periods of heavy heavy rain. There is just too much water pressure from below during these times. It is more due to the water table being high and the original floor that was done way back in the fifties. Overall thought it stays pretty dry down there.

    Surprised theterere are not more negative comments. Please do not do this to your interior foundation. Sure you cant see the water, but it is still there behind it with no way to escape. Water ALWAYS wins. Bare minimum if you do this, weep holes into a gutter type system.

      There's a great TH-camr --> Mark Anderson (basement waterproofing) who excavates on the outside. He addresses exactly what you're talking about, patching and sealing cracks on the exterior, then backfills with gravel down to the drain tiles. And he removes the clay soil which is nasty for basement walls.

      This is a really cool idea. So dont take this as me bashing in any way. This may work well with a wall that has a slight seep every now and again. But if your basement walls has visible moving water or pissing when it rains, you will be better off digging it up, setting rigid tile under floor level. Then seal and place a membrane between the wall and clean rock. Its the only method I've ever had success with a leaking basement. Got to get rid of the real issue, the hydraulic pressure. You dont patch a swimming pool from the outside! But this technique definitely has its uses for sure!

      Hopefully you sealed the foundation from the outside by digging all the way around which is the proper way. This method will do more harm then anything else trapping water in the foundation deteriorating it until the pressure is able to get through which it will eventually. Never seal the interior unless the exterior is bulletproof or completely waterproof , or the bill to fix the damage will be much more then 14 grand.

    Love all Rapid Set. I use it and swear by it.
    Folks, this will NOT make your house a boat. Insane is the all of human existence that ignore downspouts properly running away from the house. All roof water needs to be 10 feet away or piped away. I make my living in this concrete type work, but it’s always the ignorance of roof water gutters downspouts and gravity. Now top class builders run the downspout down to the foundation and walk away. Ignorant. The roofing and gutter guys run it right down to the side of the foundation and walk away as if it’s job complete. That is building with cancer. Never finished the job. New learning but it is stupidity. New fix boys like this, ignoring downspouts running the roofs water 10 feet away from the foundation. NEVER NEXT TO IT. This will not make you house a boat. Make sure your downspouts and your gutters are all properly working for the amount of square footage on your roof. I see so many houses the new next homeowners eliminate a downspout is if that would save them money yet three or five years later their entire concrete back porch is sinking 7 inches and they have no idea how it ever happened

    I wonder, if you have a leaky basement, will this only delay the inevitable -- will the wall being saturated begin to deteriorate? If you have a block wall, will the concrete blocks begin to fail. I was always taught waterproofing the exterior is the only way to maintain a dry basement. 🤔

      This doesn't work well on interior walls. the pressure of the water is pushing the compound away from the wall. It will eventually fail. The best way to stop this is to landscape your yard so the water runs away from the structure.

    • @Ethan-um7cp
      @Ethan-um7cp 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      agreed, this will saturate the concrete form the outside in, it will crumble over time, faster than an untreated wall.

    Do u have to do the outside around the house as well to keep water from coming inside the bricks and breaking them down from the outside?

    The pressure at the bottom of the tube is the same regardless of diameter. A 6' tall drinking straw will have the same pressure at the bottom as a 6' tall 6" diameter tube.

    Around here there are no basements but some cellars or 2’ crawl spaces with foundation. Those walls are mostly cinder-block. Q: shouldn’t the outside be coated down to the foundation?
    That said I feel the need for a bunker = future doesn’t look safe (weather/politics).
    Thinking about getting a square pool liner to fit outside the poured walls, the concrete base will be “Inside of the pool vinyl” you get the idea?
    It will be 4 feet below water table at 8’ = sandy silt because we are next to the Arkansas river.a

    Ok, excuse my ignorance, but if the water proof is on the inside, doesnt the wall retain all of the moisture since its coming from the outside? Woudnt that affect the wall more since the moistue is trapped?? I honestly dont know, just asking.

    • @primary3093
      @primary3093 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are 100% right and that's why I'm wondering how everybody on here is just ignoring that fact. Waterproofing needs to happen on the outside first.

    • @mymorristribe
      @mymorristribe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ideally, the water-proofing would happen on the outside. But water trapped in the pores of brick or cement isn't going to mold. So, this material on the inside, just keeps the inside dry. The water won't hurt the masonry wall. If you have some crazy wood wall basement, then you are hosed.

    What about leaky roofs? Can it be applied to wood or only to existing concrete?

    • @MMGJ10
      @MMGJ10 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's a cementatious material that mechanically bonds to masonry.
      If applied over wood, in such a thin layer especially (1/16"-1/8") the wood would swell and shrink in the heat causing total cracking everywhere...
      Not a good idea. Lol

    Does this material still allow the concrete to breathe? My house was built in 1913 and most of the basement is made with large concrete bricks they had salvaged from the OLD button factory. My concern is that if the ancient bricks can't breathe will the Lyme deteriorate faster and make an even BIGGER problem?
    The wall looks like they used some kind of Killz to seal it previously, but I have a few areas where it has cracked and the water is pouring through this year. Bought the house 2 winters ago and had no problem. :/

    This is for artificial waterfalls And ponds built with concrete and mortar. Have yet to ever have any water escape from a pond Coated with this. I think for a gallon of acrylic add mix it’s about $20 but it goes a really long ways. I just brush it on Using cheap $1 3inch brushes.
