    Are you actually going to improve the welding on the rear subframe ??, i get its now a rat look build but it looks a mess tbh. Also not sure on the rectifier cover. Would have been better to move it completely i think, but hey its what you want at the end of the day.

    I presume this will be certified by an engineer before it is allowed on your roads?

    • @christommo
      @christommo 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It only needs an MOT as per any other bike and it will be good to go on British roads.

    • @robdefire4747
      @robdefire4747 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have thought a country so big on Health and Safety would have had that covered. It wouldn't be allowed on our roads.

    • @christommo
      @christommo 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rob Defire . I think that they assume a motorbike is easier than a car to inspect by an mot inspector .Possibly because the majority of bikes don’t have much in the way of body work, so it’s easier to see defects in the chassis. Either that or the government can’t see anyway of making any more money out of it!

    • @robdefire4747
      @robdefire4747 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christommo over here it has to be certified by an engineer to prevent home jobs hurting people. The next owner may not have knowledge of how badly a job has been done and have a component fail causing serious injury. Our normal inspectors are not trained to that level.

    • @christommo
      @christommo 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rob Defire .That would be the best way. If people trust their own work that’s ok but the next owner is taking a big chance like you say. My welding is good enough but not good enough for me to trust it on my Ducati frame. That’s why I’m leaving the fabrication to an expert. A good looking weld can still be crap but a crap looking weld is definitely going to be crap !

    Year ago I did something similar putting flat plastic under a GSX 1400, first time messing with a bike, bricking it until I got it finished, you should invest in a dremmel for this sort of work, plus they are handy as hell about the garage. Keep up the good work...

    Why slide the drill bit in and out and swing it around after the hole is drilled? If you need to clean up the holes use a countersink and/or deburring tool. Also they're aluminium BRAZING rods, not welding rods. Irony is you talking about common sense.

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blimey, had a bad day mate... moving the drill bit around helps clean the burr off the inside so that the rivnut has a clean internal face to press against, a piece of swarf jammed inside can destablise the rivnut and, of course, it's brazing, or even soldering, hence the question mark in the title of the main video... keep smiling mate, don't get stressed, it's just You Tube... have a good weekend (maybe a beer or two).

    • @garfunkle187
      @garfunkle187 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Moonfleet41 I get why you were doing it, but as I pointed out there are better tools for the job, rather than just mis-using the drill bit. Also, that question mark doesn't make it ok to keep using incorrect terminology and hence disseminating incorrect info to your audience. FYI it's soldering, not brazing, determined by the temperature involved. Did you ever even explain to your viewers the difference between welding/brazing/soldering in regards to melting of base metal and temperatures? I'm not trying to be a pedant, I just believe in passing on the most accurate info you can. Also, why don't you actually weld that stuff? I know AC tig machines aren't cheap but a spool gun isn't too costly and would be a good addition to your shop and videos.

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@garfunkle187 Many have said the same line "why don't you just "buy" a cheap TIG welder etc etc... easy throw away comments when you're in your armchair mate... in reality, ive spent thousands over the last 6 months administering this move to the new unit and upgrading equipment, tools and of course buying the donor bike for this project too.. I have looked into a spool gun, its a second row option over a proper TIG machine, ('scratch start' with an arc welder is a waste of time), so im saving the funds and will get there eventually, but as you rightly said, AC tig machines aren't cheap, and i want a good one that i wont have to "upgrade" later.. Im just a hobbyist with a dayjob mate, it's taken me a lifetime to get where i am here today, and when i can afford it.. ill get into TIG welding properly. but until then, life goes on, and ill make do with what i have.. have a good weekend mate, and thanks for your engagement..
