- This week I finally tested out the Mynt3D Super 3D Pen, and I'm glad I didn't wait any longer! Learn what this 3D pen can do while we make some awesome sphericons.

Mine is 29.99 (i know im slow)

My main event is 2x2 and i average 7 or 8 seconds and my pb is 4.37
I love that you show your silly mistakes showing what went wrong and then show or at least tell us how you fixed it! Awesome stuff. Ive been wanting a 3D pen but after watching your videos I now DEFINITELY want one!

Some Corrections:
- Most computer USB ports will be underpowered for the pen, but any USB battery pack that can output 5V, 2A should work to make this portable
- As some commenters pointed out, Mynt3D also sells a 'Professional Pen' that is mostly the same but easier temp. control and an OLED display for an extra $20 (Amazon link : amzn.to/2zW4KCE). I'll be trying it out soon :D

I've had a mynt 3d pen for a couple months now and have been using it relatively frequintly . It has never clogged once and has a great speed variety. I am really happy with this company for making there designs simple and durable.
hey there, after three years what are your final thoughts about this pen? I am considering buying it and I would like to know if its a good beginners pen

I've got a Mynt3D pen however it's the one with the screen on it! Fully adjustable temperature vs that odd screw thing.
It is the only 3D pen I've used but so far I've had no issues with it. Would definitely recommend and the price point is pretty good.

Cs_321 the tip of it is if that’s what you are asking! The plastic is hot too because well, it’s heated! I use it at 190c if I remember right, not fun touching that!
Good to know! I've accumulated so many filament scraps, and a pen would have saved/improved quite a few prints by now. I've been hesitant because so many of his died so easily, though

This was a great review as well as an equally great tutorial. I am considering a 3D pen in the near future and will recommend this video to anyone else with an interest in one too.
Too awesome I just got my daughter the 3doodler and for myself the mynted super pen. She loves hers she ie really into micro art and sculpting a true artist on any Medium but once the Super pen arrives we can really see how she shines.
I'm so glad I got this pen a while ago. For my experience it's awesome. Haven't had a clog eather.(i also uses only pla)

I am glad you like this pen. That's my favorite. I do have the pro version with the temp buttons and display. Did you hear if they are thinking of discontinuing the older one for this cheaper version? I hope not. It's nice to be able to tweak the temp a few degrees up and down for PLA from different manufacturers. Worth the extra $20 to me.

I bought the mynt 3D pro pen a few years ago now and I still love it to this day, it’s a bit better because it has a screen that tells you what the temperature is, however it’s a bit more in price
i think it would be really cool to do a painting using the sphericons to apply the paint with the way they roll

The slightly more expensive pen has a display on it where you can see where the temp is at and there are physical buttons to change the temp, its super nice

THANK YOU!!! My son got a 3d pen for Christmas. I also use it and noticed the temp was off. I was so confused on how to change the temp. I must have went too far because it’s making bubbling sounds lol Thank you for showing how you change the temp of that particular model. Santa should have got the display temperature one 😅

U should try Mynt3d professional. White version and with LCD screen showing temperature that can be adjusted per degree Celsius. Very good 3D pen and loving it so far.

That’s the “old” version pen from Mynt lol .... just buy RP800A from AliExpress! It’s got OLED screen and changeable tips!!
Oh, you could unroll the mesh of a face/head and stitch it up - that'd be cool and an awesome base for a mask!

Hi! Many thanks to your efforts to make the 3d pen more "user friendly" just as you did. A question: in drawing lines (less jerky) could be useful to use a ruler? Some rulers have the "opposite side" (the one without numbers) which is somewhat "rised" over the drawing surface, so it won't touch the PLA or the drawing point during the use. Have you ever tried to do this?
I haven't tried using a straight edge, but I can imagine a metal ruler working... if it can be pulled away without sticking to the filament.
The flexable one should be filled with a type of very soft putty that forms to the change. That or a type of sand.

This pen seems to be the exact same as my "RP600A 3D printing pen V4", right down to the packaging. I bought it 3 years ago, and it was labeled "Victorstar", although the brand name doesn't appear on the box or the manual. I remember that the same pen was sold through various "brands" back then. I didn't use it too much, but it does seem to be rather reliable; I had very little problems (if any) with clogging.
I'd eat my shorts if it's not an rp600a. from other comments they have a more expensive model with screen and temp adjust. the rp800a? I'm not even going to look up the model to see I'm so sure. he got hosed on the MYNT3D story. Local distribution rights from copyright enforcement I assume. You can still buy all the pens, nothing stops the China train. If he's American, he got hosed even worse. the rp800a is only worth $40-50 CAD. Make Anything - pop it open and check. made by Jer Education Technology. slide the screwdriver in the slot, just pop open the end, then slide fingernails/something along grooves to the other end.

I received on yesterday and he has been playing safely the pen, can you advice what is the name of the tag the square or rectangular thing you punching on the pegboard. What is it called, so i can buy it for his and he can store all his art on the board it self.

I have 4 of the original Mynt3D pens. It looks like this is the same except for the temperature control. Mine have temp Up and Down buttons with an OLED display. Much better than the screw you have on yours. You got screwed! I'm glad I bought mine when I did!
That flexisphericon would be super cool if you filled it with something on the inside... like a stress ball sort of thing!
When you use the pen do you have to hold down on a button or it automatically comes out after one push of a button?
I got a 3doodler on sale on amazon last year for $12, works great for me, I just don't have a ton of 3mm filament

Yes! I have the OLED version and it runs great off my 2A power bank. Thing draws about an amp so smaller ones won't work.

I'm new to 3D pens. I love your sphericons! I have 2 dumb questions... Can the Mynt3d use TPU filament? How are you bending them using PLA? My filaments cool hard. What am I doing wrong? Please help, thanks!
I've had success printing TPU on my mynt3D pens. You may just have to slow it down and use abs temps. PLA is quite brittle but when it's a single thin layer it can bend... Some old or cheap PLA might not bend as well without snapping
Hey love your videos :) Why don't you like abs for the 3d pen? I find that pla melts to much (on the low setting) with my 3doodler and causes it to clog all the
time
Abs creates some toxic fumes and has a hard time sticking to things

Hey Devin... Great job on the vids. So I consider you my local expert.... but not really local, I guess. I have a question. If you have ever worked with fiberglass resins you know that most of them don't really stick to plastics. For example the material that cutting boards are made of. They are great for making molds. Will PLA have the same characteristics? I would like to make some 3 D pen things as a kind of positive mold and the uses fiberglass to get a negative mold, if you follow. Your thoughts????

Hi John. I have done _very_ little work with fiberglass so I'm not certain. I imagine the texture of the surface made with 3D pen would have too many small ridges and layers that the resin would grab on. Maybe you could sand it really smooth and use mold release, but that's a lot of effort and maybe not the best way to achieve your desired result. You might be better off carving into HDPE (cutting board) with a dremel tool or 3D printing
Are you using TPU as your flexible filament?
Hey devin, quick question, would a 3D pen be good to glue prints together? Preferably invisibly, wondering if it would cool down to quick to do that...
You can up the heat so the plastic takes longer to cool down, but ideally you would design the print to have cavities you could fill with plastic or something like that with the parts already in place, rather than trying to stick them together quickly. So kinda
