9 years later this video is even more relevant.

I think most people miss the point. It's not about 'unplugging' it's about regaining balance. You don't have to unplug completely, forever! We just need to not forget about slow-time engagements and interactions. We are living in an ever-increasing fast-paced, fast-time engagement society; we need to re-introduce slow-time, contemplative practices into our lives.

I think what she meant was to unplug for some hours and enjoy other stuff.

      'Regaining balance' is a joke

Good video BUT the connection between information overload and the US deficit is not explained. How do you make that conclusion? what are the facts or evidence? I'm interested, that's why I'd like to know. Thank you.

Definitely. People spend so much time on sites like Facebook, Tumblr, and even TH-cam watching/reading really random and stupid things. It's not an entirely bad thing that they do, but I feel like we need cut back on this type of "entertainment" and enjoy more physical entertainment (playing outside, making music and art, interacting with people face to face rather than texting them when they are right beside you). If we're going to use the internet, most of it should b relevant stuff like this

I am currently doing a masters thesis on this very topic and applied to mobile device users groups in co locative online environments more specifically augmented reality based mobile devices :)

Is there a way to see where you found your research and statistics? Specifically, I'd like to see how IOS and multi-tasking led to tanking in the economy.

Exactly. Without even trying to elucidate this, it is just casually stated as a fact.

Good video. Any chance you could edit the automatic closed captions so they are more accurate? Thanks.

Very nice! Is there any way to get the reference for "Americans spend 180 days a year consuming information" ?

This video is the "from the book" example of information overload. I dont remember single information min after watching the video.

Here is a perspective if you aren't done with it... Context + Content = Concept...I am plugged in with my mobile and pc probably 8 hours each day...30 days a month equaling 240 hours each month. I am not overloaded because I use the equation above. Happy Surfing :-)

I liked the video but... Don't you think there was just too much information for a person to take in in such a short period of time? My brain feels overloaded now. Got to catch some air
