It is a fun ride. Hua Hin is about 200km southwest of BKK. This was a Local Train which stops at all the stations along the way. The trip took about 4 hours (although Thai trains may be delayed for a variety of reasons). There are also Express and 1st/2nd class trains that don't make as many stops, but their windows don't open, because they are air conditioned.

The First and Second class trains are a bit more (about $12 US). I like the Third Class trains because the windows open and you can get good pictures. On 1st & 2nd Class trains the windows don't open (because of Air Conditioning) and are tinted which makes taking pictures impossible.

I done this journey back in 2002. Will do it again this year.
