  • Overall Hua Hin in Thailand is Great city to live in.
    It ’s a modern city with all facilities that you would expect from a big city back in the US or Europe. Just 3 hours from Bangkok and the International airport.
    There is a large Ex pat community living in Hua Hin and English is widely spoken. Crime is Low and there is a large presence of Police & Army personnel making Hua Hin a very city.
    CONSIDER BUYING ME A COFFEE HERE, PLEASE
    www.buymeacoffee.com/jimandrewsf
    Personally I love the South of Hua Hin. We have the beautiful Pak Nam Pran, Khao Khalok & Dolphin Bay just 25 minutes down Highway 4 and the famous National park. Please check these places out on the Internet and they are easy to find. If you cycle take your bikes as very cycle friendly!
    The only negatives are the driving & stray dogs but hey I can live with that. I have travelled the world extensively and this is my favourite place in the WORLD!
    Please gIve me the Thumbs Up if you enjoyed and drop us a comment below - Thanks! Also Subscribe for more films if you have not yet subscribed.
    As always a BIG THANKS to everyone who has supported me in the making of this small but growing channel - You Give me the motivation to carry on - THANKS!

    Hi Jim, really good information once again. I didn't know the bus station moved. I'm liking the new format production. Great intro/exits as well !!

      Hi Polar Attack Yes Airport Bus moved in January - not sure about new location as North?
      I am using Final Cut pro X now to edit and it's a significant difference from I Movies - Highly recommended if you are a Mac User? Part 2 out today - Best Wishes!

      Lots of people speak highly of Final Cut Pro X. It seems that's the way to go. I'm still a newbie :) once i figure out iMovie i will probably change over. It's just the learning curve is steep enough already. Still leaning the basic commands and short cuts :-))
      I'm looking for your new vlog now !!

      Hi Rogerluli I Think a lot of people look at Chang Mai as cooler, Pattaya cheap, Hua Hin more expensive but safe bet and Island living at Phuket & Kho Samui - Lots of choice. I would def rent property then you have the freedom to relocate and remember March & April are very hot here. If you want to see more on Hua Hin there is an Expat website called Hua Hin After Dark which is a very good forum. Als Thai Visa.com isa general Thailand Forum. Thanks for watching most appreciated - Jim

    Excellent Jim, I visit my friend who is an expat from Newcastle upon Tyne. He loves it when i/we come to Hua Hin to visit him as we bring bars of chocolate, Fray Bentos chicken and mushroom pie, curried beans, corned beef and shaving gel and his Thai wife gives him a weeks evening leave pass...then he goes back to his hermit lifestyle as we go to Pattaya to live the dream 😉.

    Hi Jim, nice video. I spent a few days in Hua Hin last year, travelled from Chiang Mai to Malaysia by third-class train, cheap as chips. Just wondering, have you been to Pattani, down in the far south of Thailand?

      The overnight train from Hua Hin to Butterworth was a right laugh and we stayed at Penang over night.
      Singapore was a amazing and also loved KL in Malaysia. Not done Pattani in the South. I will be doing Burma in June hopefully on th strain. So much choice - Cheers

      Hi John Thanks for watching.
      Just head South on Petkasem Rd and you will see the cycle path on your Left side - pass the Big Tesco on your left and keep going to see you it - around Soi 112 but you can't miss it. Go early in the morning or tea time when cooler. I do cycle with the Hua Hin Roadies sometimes if you like the road bike.if you like the mountain bike I can give a contact as a few groups in Hua Hin. Best wishes!

    Enjoyed the vlog Jim. I've been to Hua Hin about nine times since 2005...great golfing there. Banyan and black mountain courses are quite expensive, but worth visiting. I was at Banyan a couple of weeks ago and it cost about 4500 baht all in including transportation plus another 500 to tip the caddy.
    I retire this year and was planning on spending a couple of months there next winter to escape the Canadian cold 😱. Do you think the price for a rental will be substantially higher for 2 months as opposed to 6?
    Keep up the good work....cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

    • @Jim-Andrews-Thailand
      @Jim-Andrews-Thailand  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Diego - Good question!
      Plenty of places to rent out here but NOV, Dec, JAN are High Season so prices will automatically be higher. Yes ideally they want you sign 6 months but most paces will take 2. You just need to haggle that price a little.
      Check out Room By Room Hua Hin - Good agent and lots of rentals.
      Also Hua hin After dark website - Lots on there. (Ex Pats)
      You could also put a post on this website but I think you may be flooded with offers but cheaper than an agent.
      Yes Ive heard Banyan & Black Mountain are both excellent Golf courses.
      Thanks for the kind words - Much appreciated - Jim

    2 grand isnt cheap..you can live cheaper in the UK and as you know the UK is expensive. I think Pattaya is much cheaper to live. One negative point is..you cannot own a house outright in Thailand if your a foreigner..but you can if you buy a condo or apartment..is this true?

      Hi Kevin Yes Great city for retirement and a base for traveling around Asia.
      I still return to Uk quite bit especially in March & April as very hot so i think I get the best of both worlds. Holidays and retirement out here are complete opposites so if you do relocate keep yourself busy with hobbies etc otherwise tendency to go mad LOL. Hi Jim, so hapy I found this video and your channel. We are planning a trip to Thailand next June and Hua Hin was suggested to us by some people we know. Our plan was to rent a house in the city and stay for a month. Do you think Hua Hin would be a good destination for a family of 4 with 3 children (aged 7, 10 and 37)? Will we get bored and run out of things to do? Or are the other locations you recommend more? Thank you for your help!

      Yes to a degree Thats it
      Don Mueang Airport was the old airport which mainly covers Domestic and just a few overseas and very small.
      The main International Airport is Suvarnabhumi (Very Big & Modern) covers overseas and also some domestic. Most people use this one as access to it is easy.

    The government stopped minibuses from using Victory Monument as a 'bus station' in Oct 2016. Rocks on the beach? Yes, at and near the Centara and Hilton. The rest of the beach south of there is rock free. Polyclinic closed in 2013 because of competition from the new branch of Bangkok Hospital.

      Hi Francesco Yes I believe there are several Internationall schools in Hua Hin (YAMASAARD School) for one but I really have no sound knowledge if they are good or not.
      The best resource website in Hua Hin is - HUA HIN AFTER DARK - If you register with them - Create a User name - Look for the forum called 'ASK THE EXPATS' and they will normally give you good answers there. Another website is THAI VISA FORUM - Look for the HUA HIN FORUM - Ask there but the first website will be better. I hope that helps and Good Luck with the move!

    As far as I am aware, the name of the city is pronounced as in Hwaa or Waa Hin - rather then Hooa Hin! We can compare this with the name of Huawei, the big Chinese tech company - which is pronounced "Waaway" rather than "Hooaway".

      beyackabiotch - Yes the dogs can be a real nuisance and I don't see things changing. Sadly I've given up running on the roads out here now. Dogs and driving are my main gripes out here but overall great place to visit or live. Best Wishes - Jim

    Just come across your vlog and very enjoyable , would a couple on late 40s enjoy this place as we are not into seedy places lol for a holiday cheers

      YES For sure. The majority of expats living here and visitors are in their 60 - 70s. Hua Hin is not seedy at all - rich clean modern Thai city which attracts Bangkok at week ends.
      Have look at some of my films on Hua Hin and other stuff and hopefully you will get a feel for the city. I have done most parts of Thailand and for me its the best city out there. Best Wishes Jim

      Hi Reggie Yes Taxi's are a real bargain if you can haggle them down!
      That said Airport Bus at 300 Baht represents excellent value.
      All Good stuff - Thanks for watching - Cheers

    2 thousand pounds a month......bloody hell, you can have a "good lifestyle" on that money just about anywhere in the world.

      Yes totally agree with you depends what you want. Thailand has become more expensive since I made this film with the strong Thai Baht!

    1,500-2,000 pounds (2000-2800 USD) per month??? others say with 500$-1000$ you can live a basic mixed Thai/Western life style, 1000$-2000$ can give you a very comfortable living, above 2000$ you can live like a KING in Thailand

    • @Jim-Andrews-Thailand
      @Jim-Andrews-Thailand  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes agree all depends on your lifestyle and where you live, many factors come into it. £1500 with a conversion rate of 43 to the pound only gives me 64,000 baht per month. When you take out rent, bills, car, travel, food etc soon goes believe me! The whole point about retirement is enjoying yourself so I really think you need to be £2000 up but appreciate everyone is different! Thanks For watching & Best Wishes Jim

    Hi Jim would six million baht and pension last me ten years at least from Scott New Zealand

    • @Jim-Andrews-Thailand
      @Jim-Andrews-Thailand  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Scott that sounds like a decent amount. I think 70,000 Baht per month is adequate for all living costs. You can do cheaper but it all depends on your life style ( eating out, golf, travel, family committments, etc). Location also key? Maybe try 6 months? Best wishes

    • @Jim-Andrews-Thailand
      @Jim-Andrews-Thailand  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes possibly, all depends on your lifestyle really. If you rent you will have the flexibility to move around. there are cheaper cities than hua Hin such as Pattaya but Hua Hin is a lovely safe city!
