This game is incredible. I'd love to see a sequel in the vein of Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, but in 3D.

Best moment in the game. It is truly perfect.
While I basically love absolutely everything about the game, the thing that I like the most is how much more fun the combat of the game feels compared to the past titles thanks to how good it feels to pull out a perfect dodge and then counterattack the enemy if you're doing it without an ability (Not to mention how sick it looks to do that with the hardest bosses).
Btw this was a really great video and you deserve totally way more subscribers 👍

This game is the stuff of dreams. Like, damn this game was goty 2022 for me, there were so many hype moments in this game. This game has its faults but since it’s HAL we’re talking about, I’m confident that they’ll make an even more phenomenal game with the new engine they’ve created. Other than that, I love being a Kirby fan. Thanks HAL for one of many masterpieces, for more happy memories, and more to come.

I died twice fighting Chaos Elfilis the first time. I was using my Morpho Knight Sword.
I think you pretty much hit the nail right on the head in terms of the final verdict. forgotten land is an excellent game and put kirby in such a good place, but there's still so much room to grow. along with more abilities with bigger movesets in the future, I'm also hoping for a more exciting gimmick, more story moments, and more varied music. plus I'll always hold out hope that the speedrun modes return

"More varied music". I mean, four composers, including the notable Hirozaku Ando and Jun Ishikawa, all with unique styles, collaborated to create this game's OST, so I'd be surprised if it wasn't varied- and high-quality.
I'm surprised to have heard this criticism of Forgotten Land's music quite a number of times, honestly. Personally felt that it's (currently) Kirby's peak of musical performance what with even the majority of stage themes being remarkable, even after recency bias (also Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit is GOATed ).
I'm quite disappointed that you didn't ask me to read out the paragraph about Time Crash. Jokes aside, a feature length review by you is just what I needed!

I’m surprised it took them this long to do a full 3d Kirby game. They essentially tested the waters already with Kirby’s Air Ride and the city mode in that game. KATFL though was a great experience, and a well deserved entry to push the series forward from here on.

Absolutely fantastic. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had the minor nitpick of missing the pause screen ability guides, lol (also, Ice. I cannot tell you how many times I've tried to do the aerial ice attack from the 2d moveset only to realize its not in this game. They've gotta bring that back...)

I was somewhat hoping you'd talk about how powerful the perfect dodge can be. You're at least limited in attack power when trying to dodge through hovering, but with the roll it's *boosted* instead. Is it too strong? I planned to demonstrate it by defeating a boss blindfolded, and ended up uploading my 6th successful attempt on Morpho Knight this way last week.
I can agree that it's incredibly abusable depending on how experienced player is, but considering a dodge existed within the previous entries, which could also effectively trivialize the boss with some exceptional timing, and you still apparently have a hitbox after performing a successful dodge, I'd say it really isn't bad; however, do wish that the games made dodging exclusive to the air to give more significance to guarding or evasion by movement.
The normal dodge is still balanced enough because one has to do it well for it to be that effective. Despite having less DPS than the hammers, Morpho Knight-dodge makes it broken because it takes any skill out of the system. Meanwhile, ice is way weaker because of how it is designed as the stone-equivalent of the game, especially with how some fights are designed around dodging and distance.(And even then, it wouldn't be so bad if Ice didn't give Kirby Ice physics when walking and the last boss in the game requires plattforming.)
@@lpfan4491 Do it well? The requirements for a 'perfect' dodge are very low, in the aforementioned video I got hit half the time and still did it. Additionally, Ice is typically used by speedrunners to beat Elfilis, solely because that guard is so *strong.*

This was one of the first 1 hour & half+ video that I watched from start to finish, if it was an premiere video i would like it even more, but is just a nitpick, I liked the guest apparitions and the opinions at the end are beautiful. Also I love this game.

Kirby may had a rough transition to 3d but kirby air ride is good.
I've been a kirby fan since i was 6 and a 3D game is something ive always wanted, playing this game has finally anwser those wishes and its quickly become one of the (in my opinion) best kirby games to come out in recent memory it has its flaws sure, but im exicited to see what this new dimesion does for the franchise
This game has the single best ost of any game ever. It’s just truly incredible. I would have understood if xenoblade took the award in 2022 because nobody takes Kirby seriously, but GOD OF WAR?!? Absolute crime.

Well, that was a lot longer than I was expecting. There were more nuance and counterpoints than presumed too, but... every level? Really? Well, I'll try to be more brief. Kirby of the Forgotten Land is easily one of my favorite games, but calling it a masterpiece from the beginning is almost certainly overstating its value:
One of the core tenants of a 3d game (1:45:00 and some reviews) is open movement, but most levels are riddled with invisible walls. There are some great secrets as well, but they're all less deserved when the paths to get to them only work in that area, such as Kirby not being able to stand on a set of pipes in one section and being required to for secrets in others. Plenty was carried over from other Nintendo games when it was unneeded, too. The main traits that separate Elfilin from Olivia, Huey, and all of the other inactive self-destructing sidekicks in modern games is that Elfilin does even less. The final push against Elfilis proves he has power, so why do nothing but float by Kirby and talk about the scenery outside of battle? HAL could have at least tied it to Mouthful Mode like some of the others to their games' gimmicks. Speaking of which, saying MM doesn't matter was odd. It's not in every level, but dominates trailers and climactic scenes, including the final attack where you indirectly praised it, which isn't good considering it might be the weakest Kirby mechanic. First of all, how? Kirby's journey to the new world is clearly meant to imply it's an effect of either said travel or the area, but it's not enough. Not being able to fit around an object doesn't work since Kirby is stretched the same amount no matter what is used, and some of the enemies Kirby can inhale are bigger than items such as the Cone and Vending Machine. Even if that wasn't the case, it doesn't explain how Kirby controls each item from the outside, or flying as Big Rig in the hold B section. There is indeed an argument to be made regarding Mouthful forms adapting to the level instead, but previous such as the Robobot Armor do so better. What does have an explanation? Mario Odyssey's Capture. Given other parallels like FL's nuts functioning the same way as Odyssey's rocks, it's more likely that was the source than not.
These two points are only under a quarter of what I was going to bring up, but given the current length I'll wait until you see this to consider writing more. Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a good game, great even, one I've 100%ed and recorded for, but *not* a masterpiece. There are even aspects about why it's good you seem to have overlooked.
I get your points but to me the incredible level of polish and the outstanding level design make it up for me, I even said at the end that I would love a more open take, but I get a more linear route was the better option here to get that same level of perfection, also you missed the point of me saying MM doesn't matter, what I meant is that MM is so cleverly integrated to the level design that it really, it doesn't feel like a "gimmick", it has no comparison with other gimmicks of the series, and that's why I love it
@@SonicoVT I didn't miss your point on MM, I disagree. Plenty of Robobot sections do what mouthful mode does better, whether as a level focus, for bonus items, or optional secrets. Even if we were to disregard everything taken from other games and assume there were no issues in the gameplay, Elfilin should at least have the gap in his ear filled when becoming 'whole'.
P.S. RIP Dedede. I like to keep up the Donviento/Imposter memes, but that's because he really got the short end this game. Phantom Forgo Dedede was harder to no-hit than Chaos Elfilis, but the character himself... no accomplishments when first arriving, caged his own people, forced to be a controlled boss yet again, somehow became a pig instead of a potentially more vicious penguin, a fake disaster so he can't be there with Kirby to face Fecto Forgo, never playable...
What if I'm seeing both games are masterpieces tho? 🤔

Nintendo is made up of a bunch of optimization WIZARDS, mostly due to the fact that most of their legacy developers have stuck around for decades. They’re made up of the most experience developers in the industry, and half laboratories can’t compete. It’s far too high a bar to compare to.
