Just recently noticed that the latest version of DDU didn't fully uninstall, still showing in Windows 11 after safe boot removal, my AMD 24.1.1 driver. Removed the AMD software from Windows Settings Apps, and then reran DDU to get it fully Uninstaller. May just be an anomaly on my system. Thanks for your time and efforts to share this with us all.
Nice Kraber hipfire! Always done driver updates via DDU -> Reboot -> New driver -> Reboot Tried DDU'ing both from Safe Mode and normally, never observed any difference. Also I will never accept any other way of getting into Safe Mode other than mashing F8 on boot lol.
Great point about new drivers not playing well with existing overclocks. My 3090 has been prone to that particularly with my older systems. Thanks for the Vid!
I'm new to the gaming PC world and recently had issues with black screen crashing and MSI loading screen of death. Followed the steps in this video exactly, no issues so far. I think I missed an update on November 12 and that was the problem. Thanks for the content! If there's any chance you could add slowed down or slightly more detailed versions of videos for newbs like me that would be great. That said, I still figured it out lol
Mmm, I'm using a gaming laptop with a broken internal display, and it used to work fine with a secondary monitor, but I tried updating the GPU driver and now I don't have any display in normal mode. I can access safe mode and it displays on my secondary monitor, so I could use DDU to remove the updated driver (which I think is the source of the problem), but I'm afraid the step in which you restart in normal mode to install GPU drivers might not work because I wouldn't have a display. Is this what's going to happen? If so, how else could I fix my issue? I'd really appreciate any help :')
Oh ! I wouldn't know, Just been using all AMD for 20 years with Linux. Drivers have always been included in the kernel except around 2010s when you had to download catalyst to install.

hi! hoping for a reply. i’m not that much of a computer user and was trying to trouble shoot a graphics card issue, i was told by a tutorial to uninstall the gpu driver from device manager. is it over for me? thinking i’ve done something wrong i can’t seem to find any answers, your video says that i shouldn’t of done it but why? hoping for a reply :(
There's nothing wrong with that, you can still enable safe mode and use DDU to uninstall your drivers the proper way. Uninstalling through the device manager simply doesn't result in a clean uninstall, which is why it's best to do it through DDU.
@@RATechYT thank you so much i fixed the problem now, all i had to do was reseat the GPU. but i wasn’t worried i did something irreversible to the software but im glad to hear that’s not the case
@@bosiorne2292 I don't have any experience uninstalling/installing integrated graphics drivers, but I do believe that the process should be the same as shown in the video.
i just built my new pc, i’ve had 2 issues: one being the fact my graphics card driver keeps disabling, keeping my from playing. i have to go to my computer management and re-enable it only for it to disable by itself later. i tried this and it still hasn’t fixed it. im at a loss
Just recently got the amd rx 7800 xt, but I’m getting only 250 fps on valorant. I know worse GPU’s can easily hit in the 400’s. Could my CPU be the cause of the low fps?
@RATechYT nice vid mate! One question , do i really need to use DDU if i am going to update my gtx 1060 to a new rtx4060 or can i just clean install the new nvidia drivers (using the nvidia driver installer) since they are both nvidia cards?
6800 new user and noob, had black flickers/crashes but trying this method if this works. Will update in a week. EDIT: It actually may be due to having different displays using the integrated GPU of my CPU…and other using my 6800. Will update again.
I have never had any issues with drivers on the nvidia side of things, on amd though... ddu everytime at least with the rdna2 and 3 cards. heck I have an OS disk that spans from 2012 and 3770k that had win 7, then upgraded to 10, which had about 10-12 systems with plenty of amd and nvidia gpus and when I do come across an issue I use my second disk to see if my old bloated os installation on that sata ssd is the issue. More ofthen than not I actually have more issues with my clean os disk than the bloated one which is funny, and yes that includes having issues with am5 platform and rdna2/3 gpus. funny.
I didn't have any issues with either brand, even after trying multiple cards from them on multiple platforms and two different SSDs with Windows 10 installed. Can't say anything about older versions of Windows though.
@@RATechYTamd driver just sucks, when I had am5 it did not recognise the igpu of the 7600 even though I picked the proper driver from amds site. @@Pillokun You can experience artifacting, crashing, stuttering etc with Nvidia drivers as well as mentioned towards the end of the video with evidence. I am just honest, amd drivers sucks and I even hate the look of the amd gui as I never can find anything and one cant even change res or refresh-rate of the monitor without going to the custom menu.
